Last night around 4:30am, we started having problems adding from Amazon.com (USA) as well as Canadian and Mexican ones. This affected the whole site, as well as the app.

We spent the morning trying to track it down. It turned out to be a problem with our Amazon accounts and how they were tied together (Amazon Affiliate, Amazon API, etc.). The problem was ridiculous—we've been an affiliate for 11 years!

After lots of to-and-fro and form-filling, we were able to fix it. It is therefore now working for Amazon.com (USA). But getting it working for USA hosed all the OTHERS--Amazon.co.uk (Britain) and the rest.

We are working on the problem. We'll post updates here.

Here's where we're at at the moment. Most of the Amazons are back up and working properly, but here's what's not back up to speed at the moment:

Not working at all:
- Amazon Canada
- Amazon Brazil

Sometimes working:
- Amazon Italy
- Amazon Mexico

Our working theory right now is that we have data propagating through a large and complex Amazon system. That is, Amazon has the data and knows the data, but they have a kajillion servers across the world. This seems borne out by some of them being intermittently working.

So we're monitoring it, and will check back hour by hour as things go.

Update:

Canada, Brazil, not working.

Mexico working for "all media," but not books.

Italy working, as far as I can tell.

I'm trying to add books and getting nothing at all from Amazon, either by title or ISBN.

Which Amazon? UK is working for me. So is Germany.

>6 laytonwoman3rd: Can confirm searches for "harry potter" on all Amazon.com sources are failing for me (no results found). I've let developers know! We're a bit short staffed today but hopefully will be able to look into this soon. Stay tuned.

I'm also in the US and having trouble adding with Amazon today. "No results found" for Little House On the Prairie? I don't think so! lol

Okay, we've posted this for now. All Amazon searches now use Overcat.

We are working the access issue generally. It's annoying as all heck.

Glad this is sorted now, I have since successfully added a book I could not add yesterday and which was not in the Overcat catalogue; and another new book has also worked.

Yes, we're all sorted now. Amazon searching is restored.

We are, however, going to analyze gaps in OverCat, and try to fill them. OverCat handled the full load pretty well, but I want it to handle the gaps better.

>14 timspalding: Amazon searching is restored

For the most part, but searching for a movie from its work page's Quick Links section causes Amazon to return either no results or if there are editions found, selecting one returns an Amazon error page.

Examples:

- no result:
The End of the Tour Film, 2015 by James Ponsoldt (Director)
https://www.librarything.com/work/16807324/book/123769092

- Amazon error page:
Intolerance: Love's Struggle Throughout the Ages Silent Film, 1916 by D. W. Griffith (Director)
https://www.librarything.com/work/5874635/book/126359645

Note: both searches return correct results from the Add Books page.
