Were you surprised to find Kathy still alive?

I hoped she was alive. I didn't think the author would kill her off....too much guilt for Tyler to cope with in the future.

Not really. Why kill a hostage that he could still use to put pressure on Tyler or Sam? He's not one to get rid of someone that could still be useful. I suspected he might have just shot right above her as a scare tactic or shoot one of her extremities (I thought a leg).
