Jan 18, 2008, 8:33am (top)Message 1: klmartin83Here are some links to a few websites that have compiled book lists based on the show: http://chilton.smithereen.net/rorylist.h... http://www.listsofbests.com/list/697 http://home.comcast.net/~foreverasthemoo... You may have to copy and paste these into your browser; I don't quite know what I'm doing as far as posting links goes. I propose use the tag "Rory Gilmore" in these books :D I once started out on the admirable (if not uber-geeky) task of watching every episode and making note of every book and/or author referenced. I got through about half of the first season... However, I still have my notes, and now that there's a Gilmore group here, I may have to resume my adventure. (Now if I can just find the time.) Anyway, thanks for starting the group! I'm glad to see there are some other Gilmore groupies here on LT! So let me end by saying, Oi with the poodles already... ;-) Jan 20, 2008, 3:57pm (top)Message 4: klmartin83That's something I thought about doing as well; I know they used to have a link on the old WB website that had all those books documented but now that the site has changed it isn't there anymore. Keep us posted on how it goes or if you want any help, let me know what seasons need doing:) Jan 23, 2008, 5:30am (top)Message 5: socialpages#1 Thanks for the web sites. I will definitely check them out. Fortunately, a lot of what Rory reads is also in 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die. I'm working my way through these as well. I just wish Rory didn't read such large books. What a great idea for a group. Jan 23, 2008, 5:30am (top)Message 6: socialpages#1 Thanks for the web sites. I will definitely check them out. What a great idea for a group. Feb 5, 2008, 4:09am (top)Message 7: rorygilmore First MessageI started a Rory Gilmore library here a while back. Some of them have notes about what episode the book appears in, but I didn't start doing that till my second viewing of the show, and I only noted it for books I'd missed before. I know I'm still missing a bunch. I think I also added the books that were on the WB's website, but I can't remember if I ever got around to it, or if I was just planning to... Like socialpages, I also wish that Rory did not read such large books. Normally I can get through a book pretty fast but some of the Rory ones that I've read/am reading have been semi-daunting. This is especially so with ones I've checked out at the library; I can't stay with a book long enough to get through it before the due date! oh my gosh, this is fantastic; I'll have to start tagging right away. I loved Gilmore Girls, but never thought of listing the books she read. I'll have to keep checking in here to keep up to date :-) Feb 8, 2008, 4:30am (top)Message 10: socialpages#7 rorygilmore your library collection of Rory's books is wonderful. I will be referring to it often. Have you read all the books? Feb 8, 2008, 10:20am (top)Message 11: ryvre(I'm the one who posted from the rorygilmore account. This is my regular account.) #10 - I wish! I think I've read about 20%. There are a few that I tried to get through, and eventually gave up on. I wish I had Rory's perseverance. If anybody notices books that I missed, let me know and I'll add them to the library. Apr 3, 2009, 7:54pm (top)Message 12: audreyfan21I can't believe I found this group! I can't believe someone started a group like this. Rory is who made me want to read classics. I'm reading Pride and Prejudice and Romeo and Juliet now. Apr 4, 2009, 4:23am (top)Message 13: socialpagesWelcome audreyfan. I guess everyone in this group can relate to Rory's avid reading and book obsession. I read Moby Dick because of Rory - it was her first Melville too. Do you remember when she's working during the school break in the Stars Hollow bookshop doing their stocktake and she ends up spending more money on books than she earns? I hope you are enjoying Pride and Prejudice, it's one of my favourite books. Apr 17, 2009, 10:11pm (top)Message 14: fasciknittingI've decided to start the series over and pay closer attention to the books read, referenced, and lying around. It's a scary undertaking and I'm sure I'll miss some! I'm keeping a spreadsheet with the info and will definitely share it with ryvre to post in rorygilmore if I find anything that may have been missed. Rory is definitely inspirational when it comes to reading! There are times when I'm sitting around and doing nothing, I'll say to myself, "What would Rory Gilmore do??" and then get a hankering to pull out a book :) According to the Best Book List I've read 33% of Rory's library - still a ways to go. The good news is, many of those books are on my list. I like the mix of classics and moderns and the fact that it's not all American and English literature - diversity: that's what reading is all about!
