I just finished reading Mann's The Black Swan, which is a short novel written by a mid-century man focused on a central character who is a middle-aged woman going through menopause. I'd be interested in perspectives of other readers (particularly women) about whether the psychological musings of the main character read true to them -- was Mann limited by his gender in writing this one?
