Two actual purchases (followed by a pulling back into non-spending mode):

* A Law Unto Herself by Rebecca Harding Davis (19th century American lit)
* Pandora's Box: A History of the First World War by Jorn Leonhard, trans. by Patrick Camiller (brand new, big fat history book from Harvard UP; a review called it a "thrilling" read)

One ARC, Vox by Christina Dalcher, to be published in August. Imagines a world in which women's voices are limited to a certain number of words per day.

I couldn't help myself. At a bookstore with a friend who was buying Democracy in Chains by Nancy MacLean, I succumbed to the lure of Fantasyland: How America Went Haywire, a 500-Year History by Kurt Anderson.

Chose 3 out of a whole stack of ARCs that appeared today:

* Born To Be Wilde by Eloisa James (pub date 8/18; historical romance)
* Ahab's Return by Jeffrey Ford (pub date 8/18; historical fiction based on classic lit)
* The Lost Letters of William Woolf by Helen Cullen (pub date 10/18; contemporary fiction with a fantasy twist ... ?)

Three more ARCs, although one is book 3 in a series so I'll need to start with book one (which is out at my library):

* Record of a Spaceborn Few by Becky Chambers (pub date 7/18; space opera series originally self-published)
* Hope Never Dies by Andrew Shaffer (pub date 7/18; umm, this is a mystery starring Obama & Biden...ummm)
* Three Things About Elsie by Joanna Cannon (pub date 8/18; contemporary thriller, I believe)
