Any thoughts about the events in the prologue and the murder of Norman Openheim? Will this have any effect on the start of the archaeological project?

I suspected that it had something to do with his wartime experience in Bereton and more specifically with Marion, who I thought may have a grandchild "avenging" her for being abandoned. I don't know how the murder fits with the San Miguel and or the ship that Drake brought to the area.

It's more than likely two different events rather than one. I don't think the people of the area during the war were real happy with the American's being there and I can't say that I blame them. I don't think Marion was the reason that Norman was killed. I believe we are going to find that it has more to do with Dorinda than Marion. She is certainly a piece of work. The archaeological project on land will have to be put off until the site is cleared of evidence.

I felt like it had to do with the war because Norman was specifically targeted. But it's possible he was just in the wrong place at the right time.

I think we are being led to believe that Dorinda is the cause of Norman’s Murder but I think the author is making this suggestion as a red herring and trying to lead us in that direction but i’m not buying it. I think the murder has something to do with wartime events.
