How does Arabella bear up to being abridged? (sorry about the alliteration!)

Is Georgette Heyer's language early 20th C. or a stab at recreating Regency English?

I listened to this dramatisation a wee bit...I tried, but was constantly interrupted! It didn't sound particularly Regency in language but it was still quite nice, from what I heard.

:)
