Has anyone ever received a book that is bound upside down. That is, the FS colophon, when looking at the book pages, is on the top edge and upside down. If i have the colophon on the bottom and right side up, then the pages are upside down. I'm debating whether or not to request a new book. BTW it is "I am Legend".

Happened to me years ago. Back then they asked you to send them the title page of the defective volume before they issued a replacement. Now they replace it on your say-so.

... and then you can list the faulty one on eBay as a rare error. People do.

Thanks everyone. I think I will write to FS to ask for a replacement. Not sure about the ebay thing.

I've seen this a few times with Folio books - which makes me worried about their quality control. The most annoying
one was a Beatrix Potter set 1 which I got sealed on Ebay for my niece. Then found it had one book bound upside down.
(I did wonder if the seal was not original and the seller knew about the fault)

I do believe I've one somewhere. Odd if it's especially a Folio problem, as they've used a multitude of binders: I wouldn't expect the FS to inspect every volume sent out on their behalf, such faults shouldn't escape the bindery.

I have an odd variation - a book with only the title page upside down. I bought it direct, back in the 1980's, and didn't notice until quite some time later when it reached the top of my TBR pile. It still has a place in my library.

I also think it's something the binders should notice and replace, but that's clearly not done. The same with damage to the gilding, creases in the pages (on a larger scale in a limited edition I got) etc. I understand that they don't see every flaw, but suspect they do notice in some cases and send the books on anyway since that way it isn't their problem / expense. Those creased pages in particular were very obvious.

My Cthulhu LE arrived with a damaged Solander box that had a pink sticky arrow pointing to it. The QA person had noticed and marked it, but it was still dispatched.
Replacement arrived after I sent FS a photo.

Again, thanks everyone for you replies. I have contacted FS and their wonderful customer service has issued a replacement volume, which has already been despatched.

Happened to me only once for The Seeing Stone. Bought it on sale for, I believe, 9 GBP, basically because I could. I didn't bother asking for a replacement and kept it as a curiosity.

Sounds like the Folio Society sent out to this buyer the special Australian edition by mistake...

I have a copy of The Duke’s Children LE with this error. I asked them about it and of course, they sent me a replacement. I thought I would have to send the faulty one back but they said I could keep it.
The replacement made a beautiful birthday gift for a friend.

>15 Susanne-24: ... yeah I gotta say, FS has some of the best customer service. Out of all my orders ... I've had several that either never reached my door at all or had some damage due to horrible packing. But they have always resolved the issue and ... for the damaged ones. They always say just give them away or donate them ... which always makes for a better world to live in ... someone else gets the chance to expand their minds (and don't really care that it's not aesthetically pleasing due to damage).
