> 46 I'm trying to be patient waiting for mine, too. As far as the time it takes for books to arrive, it varies WIDELY. Mine have come pretty timely in the past - I'd guess within two weeks of Abby's notification - but some people are still waiting for March ER books, and some of the ones from last autumn took even longer to arrive. Give it another week to ten days before getting worried!

Publisher: National Geographic
Packaging: Manila protective mailer
Other: Nifty "Advance Reader's Edition" icon on front cover art. Letter of congrats from LibraryThing. UPS, as per their usual level of service, left it flat on my front stoop in the rain, not even inside the unlocked "screen" door - good thing the mailer was waterproof!

Started reading it today and making review notes, enjoying it a lot already. I usually give away books I've read instead of storing 'em - will probably donate it to CTCA (where I go for cancer treatment) library after reviewing. As I'd hoped, this is a good book for keen travellers who can no longer go "just" for fun.

Packaging: Manila cushioned mailer

This week-end is booked but I look forward to starting this come Monday. One review challenge will be to work around the fact that it's a National Geographic book filled with low quality black/white images that looked scanned on a copy machine! I'm assuming that's because its an ARC, but it definitely will make review of that aspect of the book challenging.

#s 51 (becky_quilts), 52 (klmnca), 53 (Rarcar1), 55 (virginiahomeschooler) and 60 (jhedlund)...

Thanks for answering. It does make me feel a little better that there are others waiting. I had begun to wonder if people were getting the books and not posting on this thread. (I am not paranoid!) LOL

Nice to hear from all of you!

Still waiting on The Black Tower by Louis Bayard. Not very worried though, William Morrow tends to take about 2-3 weeks to send out books.

Yikes! These messages that you all haven't received your The Wednesday Sisters yet are killing me! My publisher did give away 150 copies, which means someone somewhere had to package and label all those books, so please be patient. And I'm on Library Thing, so do feel free to ping me if it looks like everyone else is getting their copies and you aren't (or for any other reason, for that matter!). I'd really really really hate to have anyone who wants to read miss out on account of a processing snaffu.

If it's any consolation, I just received Novel Destinations yesterday. Which I am quite enjoying!

Thank you all so much for your interest!

I've already read the Intro and skimmed each of the chapters, which are intriguing descriptions of very unusual travel destinations, mostly first-person experiences, including tips and advice; some include costs of hotels and food.

Re: The Wednesday Sisters, I actually picked up a (free) copy of this at the Texas Library Association conference a couple of weeks ago, so obviously there are copies floating around out there somewhere. I grabbed it quick, since I had gotten matched with a different book (but this was one of the ones I requested). Unlike most of the ARCs available at these conferences, this one wasn't in a huge stack of multiple copies, but instead was in with a bunch of varied surplus books at a particular booth that the rep said they had leftover copies of. Strange, huh?

There are LOTS of books that haven't showed up at all yet; although the fact that some copies have, for that title, I'd still give it another week before worrying or bothering Abby.

I know we all want our books -- I want mine too -- but slightly slow doesn't necessarily mean missing.

> 112 lorax - I agree we should try to be patient, but wigster102 was asking about a book that another person reported getting (in message # 39) *15 days* before wigster posted the question. To me, that's a long enough delay to warrant a pleasant inquiry to Abby. BTW, I appreciate you starting the "still missing" thread for the April batch, that was a great idea.

> 113 Abby - I didn't mean to create YET ANOTHER e-mail or comment to you, as I know you get plenty of them already. I'm not worried about my own book because no one has reported receiving it yet, but since wigster102 asked, I counted the days since the earlier post, and gave my opinion. Forgive the intrusion into this thread. Is there a form that we are supposed to fill out when we receive a book? I notice you all have info about the book, packaging etc. . . And by creating "touchstones" that gives us a link to a discussion thread about that particular work or author? (I'm not seeing this in the FAQ so your advice is appreciated.) Thanks! Chris

No form you need to fill out. It's just nice to see when the books start to trickle in - especially for those of us that have been waiting a long time & are beginning to worry. The touchtones are just fun :)

Well, since it's July already, I'll ask again. Is there anyone else out there that never received Love Marriage or am I the only one?

Jul 4, 2008, 7:02pm (top)Message 184: Kanellio

Does anyone know when the Early Review July books will be put up? I didn't get one single book from the June list. I just wondered?

183- I think you should bring it up to Abby, especially if no one else is saying that they didn't receive it. I got mine a long time ago. :(

Aug 26, 2008, 5:56pm (top)Message 187: bluesalamanders

Oh, my gosh!

My doorbell just rang (my doorbell never rings) and yippee! it's UPS with a book-sized package for me. I haven't ordered anything recently, so naturally I assume it's my August ARC of Zoe's Tale, shipped extra-super-duper-fast. I rip it open to see...

Powerlines! The April ARC that never came! And it's not an ARC, it is in fact a full-on brand new hardback copy of the book. Nice!

And with it, because this makes so much sense, is couple of pages of computer printout with a summary of the book and a few reviews by other people (you know, famous ones). Ok then.

Aug 29, 2008, 8:39pm (top)Message 188: Uninvitedwriter

I received an advanced reader's copy of the Emily Post biography last week.
It came in a hard-pack padded envelope.

Funny thing is, I distinctly remember being told I did not get any review copies in July. Not that I'm complaining. It came with a note asking to post the review at LibraryThing and to email it to them also.

Aug 30, 2008, 6:33am (top)Message 189: JGoto

Wasn't that a Bonus Batch book ? But you should have gotten a note from Abby either way about that, too.
