Jul 25, 2008, 5:32pm (top)Message 1: elbakeroneOkay since July seems to be the month of HogX domination in the Early Reviewers - let's share! What did you get? What were you hoping for? And then of course share your giddiness when it arrives and your work of art review when you're finished! I've been picked for Shade which I'm pretty stoked about! The other ones that I know I requested - and will probably read eventually - were Bitter Sweets, The Charlemagne Pursuit, and Sleeping Arrangements....and there may have been others that I've forgotten too. Message edited by its author, Jul 25, 2008, 5:36pm. I got Babylonne by Catherine Jinks. This is my first month participating in Early Reviewers, and I was so surprised and thrilled to actually get a book! Several of July's selections look interesting -- my mother would like A Constant Heart, so I may get that one for her eventually. For myself, I might see if the library gets Dedication, Sleeping Arrangements, and The Good Thief. I'm interested in the buzz about American Wife, too, but not sure whether I want to read it or not. (I did read your great review, el!) Jul 25, 2008, 5:45pm (top)Message 3: pollysmithI haven't gotten any for this batch altho the bonus batch is still coming but I have received A Dog of a diplomat The richest season The Sky Village in the past This is a great idea for a thread, el! :) I think I asked for three different books. I only joined last week and wasn't really expecting to get a book this soon, so when Abby wrote me about snagging a book, I had to go reread what it was about. I can't wait to get my hands on it! I snagged Jane Elliott's The Little Prisoner. I'm both excited and a little bit scared to read it. I will be receiving I Am Number 4 (which will not touchstone). There weren't as many this month that piqued my interest. Last month there were loads! I did get Robe of Skulls last month, which I enjoyed. Polly, have you finished The Sky Village? That was one from June in which I was highly interested. Jul 25, 2008, 6:54pm (top)Message 6: pollysmithI kinda got bogged down in it and haven't finished it yet, I'll work on it. Jul 25, 2008, 9:08pm (top)Message 7: biblioholic29I got The Charlemagne Pursuit this time. Other books that looked interesting to me were A Constant Heart (which would go along wonderfully with my current Tudor obsession) and The Good Thief. Shade looks pretty interesting too. I joined ER in March and I've gotten Summer Blowout (I posted my review today, compski tells me it's a "hot review" now) and Secrets of the Hollywood Girls Club. I'm really excited to have a non-chick lit book this time! I only requested a couple this time, and I got Blackbird, Farewell, my third ER book. Mystery, hoops--right up my alley. I'm delighted. This was only my second time making requests but I will be getting The Good Thief so I will let you all know how it is. I have only ever requested the 2 or 3 I find most interesting. Jul 27, 2008, 1:40am (top)Message 10: LettaAvanellboth rissa and I got babylonne. my forth month getting a book in a row. Jul 27, 2008, 3:24am (top)Message 11: aglaia531I really wanted Babylonne - enough that I added it to my amazon.com wishlist - but I ended up with Dali & I, which also looks good. Funnily enough, immediately upon joining bookmooch and paperbackswap, someone offer an ARC of Babylonne and so I'm getting that one, too! YAY! Jul 27, 2008, 12:44pm (top)Message 12: rissaI find it funny that foggi, letta, and I all got babylonne, this is my first ER book because I only signed up this month. Jul 27, 2008, 3:58pm (top)Message 13: Kerian#11 laia: I'm glad you're still able to get the book you really wanted this early! :) #12 rissa: What I find more surprising is that two sisters got the same book. I know if my sisters were active LTers and in Early Reviewers that we read different enough books that we'd never get the same one. :) Jul 28, 2008, 8:10am (top)Message 14: biblioholic29I was actually more surprised that there hadn't been any duplicates until Letta posted. I know my first time out el and I got the same book. Jul 28, 2008, 8:14am (top)Message 15: karenmarieI got The Fire by Katherine Neville, which is a sequel to The Eight. I'm thrilled. The touchstones referenced incorrect books, so I took them out. Aug 1, 2008, 6:00pm (top)Message 16: foggidawnSquee! My book came today! Now I really have too many things I want to read right this minute. :-) Aug 3, 2008, 3:08pm (top)Message 17: rissagood to know foggi, letta and I should be getting our copies in two or three days then. Aug 3, 2008, 3:33pm (top)Message 18: MDLadyI got Babylonne and it looks really good. Can't wait to start it! Aug 4, 2008, 2:02am (top)Message 19: Kerianfoggi and MDLady, Congrats on book arrivals! I hope you guys enjoy your books! :) Aug 5, 2008, 9:03am (top)Message 20: Jim53My copy of Robert Greer's Blackbird, Farewell arrived yesterday. I'm currently reading The Devil's Hatband, Greer's first novel, which features the same character, a bail bondsman who plays detective. My experience with other series is that it can be frustrating to start in the middle and miss out on a good introduction to the characters. I'm not gonna read all of the series, but I figured it would be worthwhile to read the first one. In addition to meeting the characters, that will also enable me to compare the new book with the first one. Aug 5, 2008, 9:08am (top)Message 21: AudacityOh! I got one, too! This is my 4th or 5th ER book. Wife in the North, by Judith O'Reilly, should come in the mail soon! Aug 5, 2008, 12:54pm (top)Message 22: MarensrMy book came on the day of my move. I am already over halfway through The Good Thief and I am really enjoying it. I will post my review when I finish. Speaking of which I will have to figure out how to change my address for ER as well. Aug 6, 2008, 2:21am (top)Message 23: rissaletta and my copies of babylonne got here today. Aug 6, 2008, 2:43am (top)Message 24: KerianHi, rissa! Wouldn't it have been funny if they had arrived on separate days? ;) Aug 6, 2008, 5:55pm (top)Message 25: biblioholic29My copy of The Charlemagne Pursuit came last week. If I go to the beach I'll be bringing it with me. Aug 7, 2008, 8:42am (top)Message 26: LadyNStill waiting.... Aug 7, 2008, 11:56am (top)Message 27: kirbyownsAlas, I didn't get one from the bonus batch either. Aug 7, 2008, 1:14pm (top)Message 28: Kerian#26 LadyN: Me, too. I hope you get your book soon! #27 kirby: I'm sorry you didn't get one. Maybe next time. Aug 7, 2008, 2:31pm (top)Message 29: KerianYey! I got my book! Okay, I need to stop jumping. Oi, what to do? I'm already reading a book! Now I have to wait, or put the other one down....ack. Aug 7, 2008, 2:38pm (top)Message 30: elbakeroneI still haven't gotten mine either... #29 - Depending on how long your ER book is and how much you have left of what you're in the middle of, I think it's fine to finish whatever you're reading now and then read your ER selection next. Unless you're in the middle of War and Peace...... ;) Aug 7, 2008, 2:49pm (top)Message 31: KerianI hope your book comes soon, el! It looks like that's what I'm going to do. My mom took the book from me to read the back cover before I could even catalog it. Since I'm already in a book and I could tell she was dying to read it (anything nonfiction), I suggested she read it first. It didn't take much convincing on my part before she ran off and disappeared with it. My mother's very happy. ;) Not even cataloged. Does she not know how addicted I am to cataloging?? Aug 12, 2008, 9:33pm (top)Message 32: foggidawnI finished Babylonne! Here's my review. I thought it was good, not great -- it's set in the 13th century, in what's now southern France, and I for one could have used a bit more background information before diving in. However, I liked it better than I liked Pagan's Crusade (an earlier book by the same author) so I think perhaps her writing style has improved somewhat. Message edited by its author, Aug 12, 2008, 9:33pm. Aug 12, 2008, 9:46pm (top)Message 33: KerianGreat review, foggi! Aug 13, 2008, 7:14am (top)Message 34: LadyNI'm still waiting..... Aug 13, 2008, 3:41pm (top)Message 35: MarensrPoor LadyN. Soon. I have finished but I need to write my review. Bad me. I am supposed to have internet at home tonight so perhaps I'll get it posted then. Aug 14, 2008, 1:13pm (top)Message 36: KerianI finished my Early Reviewer book on Tuesday but still need to write a review, too. All I've written is merely on a piece of paper right now. I'll try to get it done soon! Aug 14, 2008, 2:46pm (top)Message 37: LadyNWhen I got home I thought I saw a book parcel on the mat.... "Oh goodie" I thought "My ER book is finally here!!"....but it was a stoopid hotel brochure for another apartment in the block. So.... Still waiting... Aug 22, 2008, 4:39pm (top)Message 38: MarensrOh I am sorry LadyN. That stinks. Here is my review of The Good Thief if anyone is interested. In retrospect I think it lacks detail but the fun of the book is the plot so I see no need to give that away. Oh well. http://www.librarything.com/work/5364148... I think the link works. Message edited by its author, Aug 22, 2008, 4:41pm. Aug 22, 2008, 4:44pm (top)Message 39: KerianHi, mar! Your link works. Good review! :) If my work doesn't have me come in today, I'll post my review for my book in a few hours. Results are in for this month's Early Reviewers. I'm not getting a book this time. There wasn't really anything I wanted. I had only requested one book. Message edited by its author, Aug 22, 2008, 4:45pm. Aug 22, 2008, 4:45pm (top)Message 40: MarensrAh yes. I didn't get a book this time either. I figured it was because I was tardy with my review. Aug 22, 2008, 5:31pm (top)Message 41: kirbyownsI didn't get one either. *sigh* Here's to next months. Aug 22, 2008, 5:55pm (top)Message 42: foggidawnI'm getting Cul-de-sac for August -- I was surprised. There weren't many I was interested in this month either, but Cul-de-sac should be interesting, if it lives up to the praise Watterson (of Calvin and Hobbes fame) gave it. (edited to fix touchstone) Message edited by its author, Aug 22, 2008, 6:07pm. Aug 22, 2008, 6:55pm (top)Message 43: pollysmithI'm getting 'forgotten Fashion" which should be a laugh! can't wait! Aug 23, 2008, 12:57pm (top)Message 44: LettaAvanellI'm getting Circus Queen & Tinker Bell: The Memoir of Tiny Kline. Aug 23, 2008, 2:23pm (top)Message 45: rissaI'm not getting anything, but that's okay because I don't know that I would have time to read and review something, I'm still working on reading the last one. Aug 23, 2008, 3:42pm (top)Message 46: lefty33I'm getting Guilty by Reason of Stupidity. Hopefully it'll be funny. If it's not I am going to be completely bored. Foggi, Cul-de-sac was one I had requested. I thought that one would fit my library more than the one I got, but the algorithm works in mysterious ways! I'll be interested to hear what you think of it when you've gotten/read it. Aug 26, 2008, 6:54pm (top)Message 47: LadyNYippee! I snagged an August book. Still waiting for the July one though... Aug 27, 2008, 1:43am (top)Message 48: KerianI'm upset with them that your book hasn't come yet! I hope it comes soon! Glad you get one for August. Aug 27, 2008, 7:53am (top)Message 49: lefty33My book came already! Like 2 days after finding out I was getting it. That is the fastest I've ever gotten a book in the mail from anything, let alone ER. Aug 27, 2008, 8:21am (top)Message 50: biblioholic29I'm having a really hard time getting into my July book. I think it has less to do with the book and more to do with I have other things that I want/need to do when I'm at home right now. I'll have to buckle down soon and get it done, I think I can read it in a day if I don't do anything else. Aug 27, 2008, 4:49pm (top)Message 51: elbakeroneI finished Shade yesterday but I'm still gathering my thoughts for my review. I really enjoyed it - I know a lot of people don't like Christian-fiction so it might not be for everyone but I thought it was a pretty smart suspense novel and was hooked right from the start. (By the way, I'm more or less back from all the crazy family drama that's kept me away from LT for the past few weeks. I missed you guys! *hugs* And when are they gonna announce bib as Queen Supreme of the BD Review contest????) Message edited by its author, Aug 27, 2008, 4:51pm. Aug 27, 2008, 4:54pm (top)Message 52: KerianWelcome back, el! We've missed you! *hug* I'm glad you liked your ER book and can't wait to see your review. (I've been wondering if we shoud simpy start a thread like last summer and ask bib to give a speech for her review being #1.) Aug 30, 2008, 1:48pm (top)Message 53: LadyNStill waiting for July's book! Hurrumph. Aug 30, 2008, 6:52pm (top)Message 54: cmbohnI'm supposed to get Murder on the Eiffel Tower for August, my first one in a while. I'm very excited! And bummer for LadyN. Hope it shows up soon. Did you double check that they have the right address? Aug 30, 2008, 7:38pm (top)Message 55: LadyNHI cmbohn. They do have the right address. I guess they're just being really slack. I'll wait and see when my August book arrives. If that comes first I'll ask Abby if she can poke the publisher of the July book. I just don't want to bother her, she must be so busy all the time. Sep 10, 2008, 12:24pm (top)Message 56: elbakeroneWoah! Out of nowhere I got Steve Berry's Charlemagne Pursuit in the mail from Random House yesterday! I had requested - and really wanted it - from the previous batch but I got picked for Shade (which was cool cause I liked that a lot) so I was resigned to just wait for CP to come to bookstores but they must have gotten extra copies to send because it arrived yesterday!!! I think the only thing better than free ER books is free ER books that you didn't even know you were getting!!! Message edited by its author, Sep 10, 2008, 12:24pm. Sep 10, 2008, 12:33pm (top)Message 57: biblioholic29Urgh...I'm having a really hard time getting into that book. I've had it well over a month and haven't gotten past part one. Part of this I'm sure is that I've spent every free moment watching Doctor Who and Torchwood. I need to suck it up and finish it. Sep 10, 2008, 7:04pm (top)Message 58: LadyNStill waiting.... Sep 10, 2008, 7:53pm (top)Message 59: foggidawnI got my copy of Cul De Sac yesterday. It was fun -- I read it in an evening and reviewed it the same day. Sep 10, 2008, 10:26pm (top)Message 60: Kerian#56 el: An unexpected birthday book! That was so nice of them! Congrats! :) #58 LadyN: I hope it you get it soon! :( Sep 11, 2008, 8:13am (top)Message 61: MDLadyYesterday I got The Sitting Swingin the mail. I'm really looking forward to reading it because it's out of my norm. Who knows, I might enjoy it. Sep 11, 2008, 9:44am (top)Message 62: Jenson_AKA_DLBabylonne was the reason I joined the ER club, but of course I didn't get it *sigh*. I loved Catherine Jinks' Pagan books, they'll probably make it into my top reads of the year. I actually did score an August ER book, much to my surprise, but haven't received it yet. Any Given Doomsday by Lori Handeland. I'm looking forward to it, I've read some of her werewolf books and they were very good. Sep 11, 2008, 10:19am (top)Message 63: LadyN#60 - THanks K - me too! I also have an August book I'm waiting for too!! Sep 11, 2008, 10:20am (top)Message 64: pollysmithI'm waiting for two books from the august batch Sep 11, 2008, 10:49am (top)Message 65: elbakerone#60 - I was joking with Tony that he could've opened the package and wrapped it up for my birthday and I would've had no clue how he got it for me! #62 - I'm supposed to be getting that one too. I think it looks good! Sep 11, 2008, 12:58pm (top)Message 66: Kerian#65 el: KIK. That would have been a perfect gift! You have you very nice gifts, though. :) Sep 16, 2008, 10:27am (top)Message 67: megkrahl#62,65-I got Any Given Doomsday, too! My first ER. I can't wait to get it! Message edited by its author, Sep 16, 2008, 10:28am. Oct 8, 2008, 9:50pm (top)Message 68: lefty33From September's batch I got Dewey. It bothers me that they say "cat who touched the world." It should be that. Oh well. Hopefully my opinion of the book won't be tainted by the title. ;) Oct 8, 2008, 10:12pm (top)Message 69: KerianI had asked for Dewey and am not gettting it, but my mom bought it two weeks ago so I'm glad I'm not getting it. I'm going to read her copy. It looks like such a cute book! I did manage to get an Early Reviewer book this time. I'm getting A Friend at Midnight. The title sounds a bit scary, huh? It's not a scary book, though. The title confuses me. Oct 8, 2008, 11:03pm (top)Message 70: MsDonnaOnce again I didn't get one. Oct 9, 2008, 6:05am (top)Message 71: LadyNDidn't get one this time, but since I'm still waiting on two, that's no bad thing. Oct 9, 2008, 8:51am (top)Message 72: pollysmithnothing for me this month, oh well! Oct 9, 2008, 10:39am (top)Message 73: kirbyownsNothing for me this month as well. Oct 9, 2008, 11:24am (top)Message 74: lefty33Last month loads of HEers got ERs. We must be making up for the overload this month. :/ Oct 9, 2008, 12:33pm (top)Message 75: MarensrI am getting The Pets but I am sort of horrified because I forgot to update my address with ER but my forwarding should be in place and I will talk to the resident of my old apartment. I hope I get it after being so absentminded. Hmm touchstones aren't right for that. Oct 9, 2008, 3:59pm (top)Message 76: kirbyjackSnap! I got my first ER book! Runaway Radish Oct 9, 2008, 6:06pm (top)Message 77: elbakeroneNothing for me this time but I'm much more intrigued by the October batch that just went up..... (I also still have The Charlemagne Pursuit on my TBR list). Oct 9, 2008, 7:42pm (top)Message 78: Espeon200I didn't get anything, but Foggi has gotten her third book in a row. Apparently the Early Reviewer selection machine likes her reviews. Here's to the Oct. list. Oct 9, 2008, 11:10pm (top)Message 79: foggidawnYes -- I got a kids book (not a surprise, of the three or four I requested, I figured it was the one that best matched my library, though not necessarily the one I wanted most). I can't remember the title, some sort of mystery featuring Humpty Dumpty. I'm excited, of course -- but this probably means I won't see another ER book for months and years. Oct 10, 2008, 1:30am (top)Message 80: KerianWe'll keep our fingers crossed! That book description makes me think of The Big Over Easy. Have you read it, foggi? LadyN, I really hope your books arrive soon! Oct 10, 2008, 6:05am (top)Message 81: lefty33Foggi, this is my 5th in a row. I'm glad I keep getting them, but I feel like someone is going to notice soon that I've gotten my share of free books and never give me another. I'll just keep enjoying it while it lasts! I'm pretty sure my sister (mindylou) got that the Humpty Dumpty one too. Oct 10, 2008, 6:21am (top)Message 82: LadyN#80 - K, Me too!! Not that I'm short of books, I'm just eager to read and review, and feel like I'm really part of the programme! Oct 10, 2008, 9:40am (top)Message 83: biblioholic29I didn't get one, for the third month in a row. I'm pretty sure this is because I still haven't managed to read The Charlemagne Pursuit. I'm going to have to force myself. Oct 10, 2008, 11:22am (top)Message 84: 06nwingertI've been requesting ER books since June and haven't gotten one- yet. But I just placed my requests for the October bunch, which look absolutly amazing! Here's to October. Oct 10, 2008, 4:18pm (top)Message 85: rissaI'm getting Baby love: An Affectionate Miscellany Nov 5, 2008, 5:09pm (top)Message 86: KerianI still need to read A Friend at Midnight as well as an Early Reviewer someone gave me, Shade, but I am going to be receiving Mistress of Mellyn now, too. Fans of Jane Eyre and Rebecca are supposed to like it. It is mostly tagged historical fiction, gothic, mystery, romance, suspense, and British. Nov 5, 2008, 5:32pm (top)Message 87: compskibookThis is the first month I tried. I signed up for about five, but I didn't get any :( ETA: I wonder if it is because of my overdue fees for Brisingr! I don't remember what it was about, so I hope I was thinking straight when I requested it. Nov 5, 2008, 9:44pm (top)Message 90: KerianOf course, compski! It's a conspiracy. They are on to booklovers and are trying to get everyone to pay their overdue book fines. How will some ever pay the libraries all off? Nov 5, 2008, 9:52pm (top)Message 91: foggidawnI snagged Cracked Up To Be -- sounds interesting! I feel slightly guilty for snagging another one, though I did skip the bonus batches in recent months. This looks like one I'll really enjoy, though, so I'm excited to get it. Nov 5, 2008, 10:43pm (top)Message 92: 06nwingertDon't worry, compski. This is the fourth or fifth month (I don't remember exactly) that I've signed up for ER books, but haven't gotten any. Nov 6, 2008, 8:47am (top)Message 95: kirbyjackI'm getting this: http://www.librarything.com/work/6362663 Yeah! This is my second ER book, although I haven't received the first yet. Nov 6, 2008, 11:54am (top)Message 96: biblioholic29I'm getting Broad Street. It pays to write reviews. Nov 12, 2008, 7:54am (top)Message 97: LadyNStill waiting for both my snagged books to arrive.... I've given up. :-( Dec 4, 2008, 1:18pm (top)Message 98: biblioholic29From the November batch I'm getting A Rose by Any Other Name: A flower's entanglement in love, war, politics, show business, poetry, folklore, fashion, sports and other matters, sacred and profane which I'm really excited about! I'm going to have to try to get through Broad Street this weekend so I'll be ready to go when this one comes! Message edited by its author, Dec 4, 2008, 1:18pm. I'll be interested to see what you think of it. Dec 4, 2008, 1:21pm (top)Message 100: rissaI didn't get one this time. I still owe a couple of reviews. Dec 4, 2008, 1:28pm (top)Message 101: foggidawnI didn't get one either -- I think there were only two or three that I was interested in this time, and with the holidays, I don't have a lot of spare time, so I'm thinking it's for the best. The one you got sounds really interesting, though, Bib. I'll look forward to reading your review once you finish it. Dec 4, 2008, 1:50pm (top)Message 102: KerianI didn't get one this month, either. Dec 4, 2008, 1:52pm (top)Message 103: readafewI got Without Warning I almost didn't request it. I haven't gotten any for a couple months prior though. Dec 4, 2008, 3:00pm (top)Message 104: kirbyownsI didn't get one this month. I've recieved The Best Mariachi in the World from last month and finished my review. I'm not 100% happy with my review, but it's what I could think of at the time. I might revise it a little later. I'm still waiting on my book from the time before. Something about a turnip....can't remember. (Actually, I've been requesting ER book for 6 months; so, in other words, I've yet to obtain one). I even stepped up my reviewing and giving thumbs up, just in case. Oh well. There's next month. Dec 5, 2008, 12:49pm (top)Message 109: LadyNNothing for me this month either. And my previous two have now both been written off as non events. At least that won't affect my future chances, but I'm disappointed at not having had new books to review... :-( Jan 6, 2009, 9:31pm (top)Message 110: lefty33I'm getting one from December's batch! Though at first I got a note saying I wasn't. I think it's because the messages for the normal batch and the bonus batch got sent together or something. I'm getting Rich Like Them. It sounded funny, but it's not a kid's book (yikes!). We'll see. I did really enjoy Early Bird, which was about a guy who retired and moved into a retirement community in Florida at the age of 28 or something. Maybe it was early 30's. That's what I thought of when I read the summary for this ER book, so I hope it's entertaining. Jan 6, 2009, 9:37pm (top)Message 111: biblioholic29I'm getting History of Now. I'm a little annoyed though because I usually immediately go reread the description on the ER page and it's down right now. :( Message edited by its author, Jan 6, 2009, 9:38pm. Jan 6, 2009, 9:42pm (top)Message 112: KerianI was also at first told I wasn't getting one from this batch but then later got another note saying I am. I'm getting Never Tell a Lie and think some people around me in RL are going to roll their eyes at me since I have such a thing against lying. (Ones to protect people are okay sometimes, but others not so much.) This book is a mystery, suspense novel and thriller which isn't something I normally read but it seems like it will be interesting enough. Jan 6, 2009, 9:45pm (top)Message 113: elbakerone#111 - I guess you'll have to read about The History of Now ....later ;) I'm getting Elisha's Bones (the book...I'd be scared if they were sending me bones....) From what I remember of the description it's an action/mystery with tie in to Biblical history so it should be right up my alley! Jan 6, 2009, 10:18pm (top)Message 114: MsDonna: ) I'm getting my first ever ER book. It's a bit stale but definitely to my taste. I guess Abby does look at your library. PRESIDENT OBAMA: ELECTION 2008 http://www.librarything.com/work/6833279 Jan 6, 2009, 10:20pm (top)Message 115: KerianCongrats on your first ER book, Donna! :) ETA: Did I take seriously what you meant as a joke? I'm not sure now. Message edited by its author, Jan 6, 2009, 10:21pm. Jan 6, 2009, 10:29pm (top)Message 116: 06nwingertI just got my 1st ER book: Connecticut Baseball just in time for spring training/ beginning of the 2009 baseball season!! Message edited by its author, Jan 6, 2009, 10:30pm. Jan 6, 2009, 10:32pm (top)Message 117: aglaia531I scored this month - getting Serendipity from the regular batch and The Canterbury Tales from the bonus batch. YAYYYYY!!! Jan 6, 2009, 10:33pm (top)Message 118: KerianCongrats to everyone receiving an ER book. (Laia, two books! Woohoo! :) Jan 6, 2009, 10:40pm (top)Message 119: Espeon200I was so disappointed earlier today when I logged on and it told me that I wasn't getting an ER book, but I just checked again (because Foggi got the book I wanted... *glare... but quickly becomes a smile*) and now I'm getting my first ER book! I snagged Babe and the Kid, one that I'd forgotten I'd asked for. I have no idea why I got it, though, because I don't really think it matches my library that much... I need to go reread the info because I must have asked for it for some reason. Jan 6, 2009, 10:48pm (top)Message 120: foggidawnI'm getting The Hero of Ages, in case you were wondering which one Espy really wanted. Jan 7, 2009, 12:42am (top)Message 121: KerianKIK. I guess he can't be too unhappy about it since chances are you'll let him read it. ;) I'm in a way glaring at one of my sisters. We gave her the complete series of some books we both wanted. She's on book three while I'm hunting for a used copy of book one. That's what happens when your sibling doesn't live near enough to you. *sigh* Message edited by its author, Jan 7, 2009, 12:43am. Jan 7, 2009, 12:59am (top)Message 122: Ms_BellaI am recieveing We Take This Man I'm not really sure why because it doesn't really match my library wither but it looks interesting enough! Jan 7, 2009, 3:23am (top)Message 123: MsDonna#115 - of course I was serious. You haven't seen my library lately have you? I've started listing my lefty political books. Jan 7, 2009, 4:49am (top)Message 124: pollysmithI've got one coming! its "The battle for the southern frontier, the creek war and the wa rof 1812 Message edited by its author, Jan 7, 2009, 4:52am. Jan 7, 2009, 8:09am (top)Message 125: MDLady#124 I think I got that one coming too. I say "I think", because I got two comments. One said that I didn't snag a book and the next one said I snagged that book. So, we'll see! Wishe me luck :D Jan 7, 2009, 8:26am (top)Message 126: biblioholic29Two messages went out, the first was about the bonus batch, the second was the regular batch. Jan 7, 2009, 8:34am (top)Message 127: MDLadyWoooo then I did snag the book! Thanks biblioholic29! Jan 7, 2009, 9:17am (top)Message 128: kirbyownsI didn't get a book out of the bonus batch. Then I got a book out of regular batch. I'm getting The Sonnets. Jan 7, 2009, 10:25am (top)Message 129: jugglingpaynes#123- Did you mean lefty as in political leaning, or lefty as in handedness? :o) You have all finally gotten to me and I signed up for Early Reviewers. I'm clueless about the whole thing, so I'll trust all of you to walk me through it. (bonus batch? regular batch?) Jan 7, 2009, 10:32am (top)Message 130: biblioholic29You'll start getting comments from Abby when the batches go up. The January batch should go up soon. After the regular batch, they sometimes get extra books in for that month, so they put them in a "bonus batch". As evidenced by Laia, it is possible to get a book from both batches if you're lucky. It's pretty easy once you get the comment from Abby, just follow the link and start requesting! Jan 7, 2009, 10:38am (top)Message 131: jugglingpaynesOK, thanks! Taking deep breath. I can do this. There's a reason I'm slow to join things... :o) Jan 7, 2009, 4:18pm (top)Message 132: MarensrI got one too. I am still finishing Pinocchio and I just finally reviewed The Pets and The Uncommon Reader Here:http://www.librarything.com/profile_reviews.php?view=Marensr But I should also be getting The Sailor from Gibraltar by Marguerite Duras. I am already starting to feel behind. Jan 7, 2009, 5:27pm (top)Message 133: compskibookI didn't get a book again :( but it is kind of my fault. I only marked the Christopher Moore book. Jan 9, 2009, 2:22pm (top)Message 134: biblioholic29January batch is up! HUZZAH! Jan 9, 2009, 2:31pm (top)Message 135: aglaia531I'm a little sad... The January batch is the first one ever where not a single book really jumped out at me as one I'd love to read. Usually my wish list grows by at least 3-4 books. Oh well, I've got plenty to read as it is! Jan 9, 2009, 3:02pm (top)Message 136: lefty33The fourth book of Pellinor by Alison Croggon is on there!! I didn't even know there was to be a fourth! Woohoo!! I hope I get that one! :D Thanks for the notice, Bib! Jan 9, 2009, 10:47pm (top)Message 137: KerianI didn't even get a letter about the January batch. Jan 9, 2009, 10:54pm (top)Message 138: MsDonnaI didn't get the e-mail about this month either, but I've just checked the batch and there are none available for Australia. Jan 9, 2009, 11:17pm (top)Message 139: biblioholic29Ummm...neither did I, I just pay close attention to the blogs. Jan 9, 2009, 11:26pm (top)Message 140: KerianDo you not normally get profile notices? This is the first time I haven't since I joined the ER. Abby, I hope, is on an LT leave, but another staff member has been using her username to send out other ER messages. It might just be that they won't be sent till tomorrow. ETA: And of course, they can be requested without notices. :) Message edited by its author, Jan 9, 2009, 11:27pm. Jan 10, 2009, 12:17am (top)Message 141: jugglingpaynesThey can't? I only got bib's notice and it appeared to let me request a couple. Of course, I'm new at this and have no idea what I'm doing, so maybe I did it wrong. (It's after midnight isn't it? I'm becoming incoherent. I should either blog or go to bed.) Jan 10, 2009, 12:26am (top)Message 142: KerianKIK! I wrote that they (we) can, silly. Hee hee! :) You did it right! I hope I haven't stressed you over it. Everything is good! Goodnight, jp! :) Jan 10, 2009, 9:44am (top)Message 143: biblioholic29Yes, the blog notice usually goes up a bit before the notices go out. I was also excited because the ER page had been down all week, so I was happy that it was back up at all. I was just trying to be helpful, I didn't mean to panic anyone. Jan 10, 2009, 12:13pm (top)Message 144: jugglingpaynes#142- Alright, I think K is playing with my mind. I read #140 three or four times and I thought it said "And of course, they can't be requested without notices." Which confused me. And I was half-asleep, so she could have changed it without me even noticing. K, if you're going to play with my mind, you need to at least put it back when you're done. Jan 10, 2009, 2:01pm (top)Message 145: KerianAlright, alright. ;) Jan 12, 2009, 10:25am (top)Message 146: readafewNotices are usually sent out but Abby wasn't doing it this time so they seem to have been over looked. Jan 12, 2009, 11:24am (top)Message 147: lulopezthank you.. Jan 12, 2009, 11:26am (top)Message 148: lulopeznice.............. Jan 12, 2009, 11:30am (top)Message 149: lulopeznice........... Jan 15, 2009, 12:09pm (top)Message 150: lefty33It came today! It's called Rich Like Them. It sounds interesting, but I have no idea what it matches in my library. I'll just trust the algorithm. ;) Jan 15, 2009, 12:40pm (top)Message 151: biblioholic29Mine came today, and I know exactly why it matches my library. A philosophical historical-fiction book, yep, that's me! Jan 16, 2009, 6:30pm (top)Message 152: MarensrOops I should have posted it here. I got Pinocchio and reviewed it here if anyone is interested. It is very different than the Disney movie and a lot of fun. http://www.librarything.com/profile_revi... I think I have another one coming as well. I don't know how I have been so lucky lately. 151 That sounds perfect for you bib! Message edited by its author, Jan 16, 2009, 6:30pm. Jan 17, 2009, 11:07pm (top)Message 153: kirbyownsI'm still waiting for the radish one from October. Jan 22, 2009, 4:41pm (top)Message 154: elbakerone#152 - Great review Maren! I thought it looked good when I saw it on the list but now I definitely want to read it! I just posted my review of Elisha's Bones. It was a pretty good action/suspense/adventure. Not as much of a Christian spin as I was expecting but a lot of people would probably count that as a good thing.
