I've been picked for Shade which I'm pretty stoked about!

The other ones that I know I requested - and will probably read eventually - were Bitter Sweets, The Charlemagne Pursuit, and Sleeping Arrangements....and there may have been others that I've forgotten too.

I got Babylonne by Catherine Jinks. This is my first month participating in Early Reviewers, and I was so surprised and thrilled to actually get a book!

Several of July's selections look interesting -- my mother would like A Constant Heart, so I may get that one for her eventually. For myself, I might see if the library gets Dedication, Sleeping Arrangements, and The Good Thief. I'm interested in the buzz about American Wife, too, but not sure whether I want to read it or not. (I did read your great review, el!)

I think I asked for three different books. I only joined last week and wasn't really expecting to get a book this soon, so when Abby wrote me about snagging a book, I had to go reread what it was about. I can't wait to get my hands on it!

I snagged Jane Elliott's The Little Prisoner. I'm both excited and a little bit scared to read it.

I will be receiving I Am Number 4 (which will not touchstone). There weren't as many this month that piqued my interest. Last month there were loads! I did get Robe of Skulls last month, which I enjoyed.

Polly, have you finished The Sky Village? That was one from June in which I was highly interested.

I kinda got bogged down in it and haven't finished it yet, I'll work on it.

I got The Charlemagne Pursuit this time. Other books that looked interesting to me were A Constant Heart (which would go along wonderfully with my current Tudor obsession) and The Good Thief. Shade looks pretty interesting too. I joined ER in March and I've gotten Summer Blowout (I posted my review today, compski tells me it's a "hot review" now) and Secrets of the Hollywood Girls Club. I'm really excited to have a non-chick lit book this time!

I only requested a couple this time, and I got Blackbird, Farewell, my third ER book. Mystery, hoops--right up my alley. I'm delighted.

This was only my second time making requests but I will be getting The Good Thief so I will let you all know how it is. I have only ever requested the 2 or 3 I find most interesting.

I really wanted Babylonne - enough that I added it to my amazon.com wishlist - but I ended up with Dali & I, which also looks good. Funnily enough, immediately upon joining bookmooch and paperbackswap, someone offer an ARC of Babylonne and so I'm getting that one, too! YAY!

I find it funny that foggi, letta, and I all got babylonne, this is my first ER book because I only signed up this month.

What I find more surprising is that two sisters got the same book. I know if my sisters were active LTers and in Early Reviewers that we read different enough books that we'd never get the same one. :)

I was actually more surprised that there hadn't been any duplicates until Letta posted. I know my first time out el and I got the same book.

I got The Fire by Katherine Neville, which is a sequel to The Eight. I'm thrilled.

The touchstones referenced incorrect books, so I took them out.

Squee! My book came today! Now I really have too many things I want to read right this minute. :-)

good to know foggi, letta and I should be getting our copies in two or three days then.

I got Babylonne and it looks really good. Can't wait to start it!

My copy of Robert Greer's Blackbird, Farewell arrived yesterday. I'm currently reading The Devil's Hatband, Greer's first novel, which features the same character, a bail bondsman who plays detective. My experience with other series is that it can be frustrating to start in the middle and miss out on a good introduction to the characters. I'm not gonna read all of the series, but I figured it would be worthwhile to read the first one. In addition to meeting the characters, that will also enable me to compare the new book with the first one.

Oh! I got one, too! This is my 4th or 5th ER book. Wife in the North, by Judith O'Reilly, should come in the mail soon!

My book came on the day of my move. I am already over halfway through The Good Thief and I am really enjoying it. I will post my review when I finish.

Speaking of which I will have to figure out how to change my address for ER as well.

#29 - Depending on how long your ER book is and how much you have left of what you're in the middle of, I think it's fine to finish whatever you're reading now and then read your ER selection next. Unless you're in the middle of War and Peace...... ;)

It looks like that's what I'm going to do. My mom took the book from me to read the back cover before I could even catalog it. Since I'm already in a book and I could tell she was dying to read it (anything nonfiction), I suggested she read it first. It didn't take much convincing on my part before she ran off and disappeared with it. My mother's very happy. ;) Not even cataloged. Does she not know how addicted I am to cataloging??

I finished Babylonne! Here's my review. I thought it was good, not great -- it's set in the 13th century, in what's now southern France, and I for one could have used a bit more background information before diving in. However, I liked it better than I liked Pagan's Crusade (an earlier book by the same author) so I think perhaps her writing style has improved somewhat.

I finished my Early Reviewer book on Tuesday but still need to write a review, too. All I've written is merely on a piece of paper right now. I'll try to get it done soon!

When I got home I thought I saw a book parcel on the mat.... "Oh goodie" I thought "My ER book is finally here!!"....but it was a stoopid hotel brochure for another apartment in the block. So....

Here is my review of The Good Thief if anyone is interested. In retrospect I think it lacks detail but the fun of the book is the plot so I see no need to give that away. Oh well.

Foggi, Cul-de-sac was one I had requested. I thought that one would fit my library more than the one I got, but the algorithm works in mysterious ways! I'll be interested to hear what you think of it when you've gotten/read it.

My book came already! Like 2 days after finding out I was getting it. That is the fastest I've ever gotten a book in the mail from anything, let alone ER.

I'm having a really hard time getting into my July book. I think it has less to do with the book and more to do with I have other things that I want/need to do when I'm at home right now. I'll have to buckle down soon and get it done, I think I can read it in a day if I don't do anything else.

I finished Shade yesterday but I'm still gathering my thoughts for my review. I really enjoyed it - I know a lot of people don't like Christian-fiction so it might not be for everyone but I thought it was a pretty smart suspense novel and was hooked right from the start.

(By the way, I'm more or less back from all the crazy family drama that's kept me away from LT for the past few weeks. I missed you guys! *hugs* And when are they gonna announce bib as Queen Supreme of the BD Review contest????)

Woah! Out of nowhere I got Steve Berry's Charlemagne Pursuit in the mail from Random House yesterday! I had requested - and really wanted it - from the previous batch but I got picked for Shade (which was cool cause I liked that a lot) so I was resigned to just wait for CP to come to bookstores but they must have gotten extra copies to send because it arrived yesterday!!! I think the only thing better than free ER books is free ER books that you didn't even know you were getting!!!

Urgh...I'm having a really hard time getting into that book. I've had it well over a month and haven't gotten past part one. Part of this I'm sure is that I've spent every free moment watching Doctor Who and Torchwood. I need to suck it up and finish it.

Yesterday I got The Sitting Swingin the mail. I'm really looking forward to reading it because it's out of my norm. Who knows, I might enjoy it.

Babylonne was the reason I joined the ER club, but of course I didn't get it *sigh*. I loved Catherine Jinks' Pagan books, they'll probably make it into my top reads of the year.

I actually did score an August ER book, much to my surprise, but haven't received it yet. Any Given Doomsday by Lori Handeland. I'm looking forward to it, I've read some of her werewolf books and they were very good.

From September's batch I got Dewey. It bothers me that they say "cat who touched the world." It should be that. Oh well. Hopefully my opinion of the book won't be tainted by the title. ;)

I had asked for Dewey and am not gettting it, but my mom bought it two weeks ago so I'm glad I'm not getting it. I'm going to read her copy. It looks like such a cute book! I did manage to get an Early Reviewer book this time. I'm getting A Friend at Midnight. The title sounds a bit scary, huh? It's not a scary book, though. The title confuses me.

Yes -- I got a kids book (not a surprise, of the three or four I requested, I figured it was the one that best matched my library, though not necessarily the one I wanted most). I can't remember the title, some sort of mystery featuring Humpty Dumpty. I'm excited, of course -- but this probably means I won't see another ER book for months and years.

We'll keep our fingers crossed! That book description makes me think of The Big Over Easy. Have you read it, foggi?

I still need to read A Friend at Midnight as well as an Early Reviewer someone gave me, Shade, but I am going to be receiving Mistress of Mellyn now, too. Fans of Jane Eyre and Rebecca are supposed to like it. It is mostly tagged historical fiction, gothic, mystery, romance, suspense, and British.

This is the first month I tried. I signed up for about five, but I didn't get any :(

I didn't get one this month. I think that's 6 months in a row that I haven't gotten one. (Actually, I've been requesting ER book for 6 months; so, in other words, I've yet to obtain one). I even stepped up my reviewing and giving thumbs up, just in case. Oh well. There's next month.

Nothing for me this month either. And my previous two have now both been written off as non events. At least that won't affect my future chances, but I'm disappointed at not having had new books to review... :-(

I'm getting one from December's batch! Though at first I got a note saying I wasn't. I think it's because the messages for the normal batch and the bonus batch got sent together or something.

I'm getting Rich Like Them. It sounded funny, but it's not a kid's book (yikes!). We'll see. I did really enjoy Early Bird, which was about a guy who retired and moved into a retirement community in Florida at the age of 28 or something. Maybe it was early 30's. That's what I thought of when I read the summary for this ER book, so I hope it's entertaining.

I'm getting History of Now. I'm a little annoyed though because I usually immediately go reread the description on the ER page and it's down right now. :(

I was also at first told I wasn't getting one from this batch but then later got another note saying I am.

I'm getting Never Tell a Lie and think some people around me in RL are going to roll their eyes at me since I have such a thing against lying. (Ones to protect people are okay sometimes, but others not so much.)

This book is a mystery, suspense novel and thriller which isn't something I normally read but it seems like it will be interesting enough.

I'm getting Elisha's Bones (the book...I'd be scared if they were sending me bones....) From what I remember of the description it's an action/mystery with tie in to Biblical history so it should be right up my alley!

I was so disappointed earlier today when I logged on and it told me that I wasn't getting an ER book, but I just checked again (because Foggi got the book I wanted... *glare... but quickly becomes a smile*) and now I'm getting my first ER book! I snagged Babe and the Kid, one that I'd forgotten I'd asked for. I have no idea why I got it, though, because I don't really think it matches my library that much... I need to go reread the info because I must have asked for it for some reason.

I'm getting The Hero of Ages, in case you were wondering which one Espy really wanted.

KIK. I guess he can't be too unhappy about it since chances are you'll let him read it. ;) I'm in a way glaring at one of my sisters. We gave her the complete series of some books we both wanted. You'll start getting comments from Abby when the batches go up. The January batch should go up soon. After the regular batch, they sometimes get extra books in for that month, so they put them in a "bonus batch". As evidenced by Laia, it is possible to get a book from both batches if you're lucky.

It's pretty easy once you get the comment from Abby, just follow the link and start requesting!

Yes, the blog notice usually goes up a bit before the notices go out. I was also excited because the ER page had been down all week, so I was happy that it was back up at all. I was just trying to be helpful, I didn't mean to panic anyone.

Mine came today, and I know exactly why it matches my library. A philosophical historical-fiction book, yep, that's me!

I just posted my review of Elisha's Bones. It was a pretty good action/suspense/adventure. Not as much of a Christian spin as I was expecting but a lot of people would probably count that as a good thing.
