As a lover of both historical novels and classical music, I really enjoy such books about composers. Ones that come to mind are Sacred and Profane and
The Assassination of Mozart, both about Mozart and written by David Weiss,
Longing by
J. D. Landis, about Robert and Clara Schumann, and Dvořák in Love by Josef Skvorecky, about the eponymous composer. Does anyone know of other such novels?
Sorry, but I couldn't get the touchstones to work for David Weiss, Dvořák in Love, and Josef Skvorecky.

There's a review of a 1937 novel about Franz Liszt by the Hungarian author Zsolt Harsányi, Immortal Franz on my Historical Novels website at
www.HistoricalNovels.info. It's an old-fashioned biographical novel, a bit quaint - all the torrid passion is cut short at the bedroom door - but a good story. Liszt was quite the charming bad boy romantic pianist.
