Apparently, Stephenie's incomplete draft of Midnight Sun was leaked (first 12 chapters) and now she has decided to postpone it indefinitely. :,(

I thought I'd reply here too, since I'm just that saddened by it. So are you going to read the 12 chapters she posted?
3Joles
I will at some point. I'm really upset about it. I almost feel like she's just using it as an excuse to not finish it, but I'm trying to avoid having that jaded outlook on the situation.

Oh poor Stephanie. I think it is important to consider two things. She trusted someone with the manuscript, and they betrayed her trust, which must be very hurtful. Maybe she'll feel more inclined to finish it once she has recovered a little, but she had to put out a statement now so it reflects her current hurt feelings. It is also embarrassing, because this is not her work as she expects to present it to people - it would be like someone taking your journal entries (like little poems or stories, not personal secrets or the like) or sketchbook sketches and publishing them for you. You might not think the work is yet up to your standards, and it might make you cringe to look at it and know thousands of people are out there looking at it in its incomplete state. It may also be hard to convince her publishers to publish a novel when part of it is available free on the internet.
She seemed pretty excited about writing Midnight Sun, but I could be totally wrong. And then maybe she just decided she was tired of it and dreamed up the whole scandal. Who knows?

I'm sure it's painful and I hope she gets the inspiration back. There are so many of us waiting for it...

i can feel for stephanie i guess. but that doesnt stop me from being saddened by this
7blu_eyed_baby23
yeah that makes me sad too! especially now that if people read it and then later she makes some moderations (i dont mean like the whole story plot) but you know a few things here and there, people might get upset.
8NobodysGirl
well the story would still probably be great if she did either way i want her to finish

I read them. They weren't that bad, but there were some errors. I am so sad Steph has decided to postpone it... :( While you're waiting, read The Host. It's really good as well.

I read the 12 chapters off stepheniemeyer.com yonks ago! I think that Midnight Sun is 100 times better than Twilight, it is so beautiful and great! Yes, it is flawed but it's only a draft. Stephenie knows who leaked the chapters as she sent out different copies in different stages of editing and that person was a friend, who "had not intention of maliciousness" or something like that. I really, really, really hope that she decides to finish the story and publish it, I would definietly buy it straightaway =D

Well xcullenpridex, I am not sure that I personally agree with the comment about midnight sun being 100 times better then twilight. Without the first book, you wouldn't be able to fully appreciate the humor from Edward's behavior looking at things from Bella's eyes, then seeing the change and understanding the thoughts behind his actions from his point of view. I nearly fell off my computer chair laughing that the vast difference in Edward and Bella's points of views. What made Midnight so wonderful and deep was the misunderstandings he and bella had seeing things from her prespective. Seeing Edward from Bella's eyes made you understand Edward as a character all the more. So seeing him go out of his way for her, you understand this is so far out of the "norm" for him all the more in Midnight sun. You should read along with the book and read the partial at the same time, I did and in it made both books all the more alive with excitement!

I agree with cullenpride because in Midnight Sun you get to see why Edward was acting the way he was. Also you get to see how much Alice loves Bella and how Alice was pretty much the deciding factor of there actually being and 'Edward and Bella'.

I agree with ibetonalice2, it was awesome to see what all those little sighs and looks Edward did and how much they were both so fully in love and oblivious to the other's affections. I just think that Edward has a much more romantic and deeper perspective on life -- and of course, on Bella. And I was SO shocked that Edward actually realized he had fallen in love with Bella before Bella realized! =D And yeah, it was so sweet how Alice wanted to be friends with Bella so much :)

Does anyone have an update about Meyer's intentions for Midnight Sun? She'd be a fool not to release it. Keep us updated if you've heard anything!

The best lines from the whole saga are in Midnight Sun. His mind is deep...and beautiful. We think we know how he feels from reading Twilight. We're not even close.
