I picked up a Call for Papers for a conference, "Borges and Us: Then and Always" to be held Friday and Saturday, Novembe 13 & 14, 2009, at Hofstra University, Hemsptead, NY (Long Island). The website for this is: http://www.hofstra.edu/Community/culctr/culctr_events_borges.html
This might be interesting to go to even without writing a paper.
