Post your link here. Not a review, but my list of my favorite books of the year so far. Review seems a bit of a lofty term for what I write about the books I've read, but here's the latest book I've commented on: Women Who Love Books Too Much, a book by Brenda Knight. Message edited by its author, Aug 15, 2006, 2:22pm. Spike Gillespie's Pissed Off. I wanted to like it, but parts of it just left me scratching my head. I also broke my book section into lit and comix, mainly because the lit page was getting pretty long, but also because people don't a lot of attention to graphic novels (other than Manga). I hope to get a few more in by the end of the week. I'm a pretty big fan of Palahniuk, but I'm really not into this book. It's making me sad; I want to love all his books! Hello, I've just joined this group and it looks interesting. I've been keeping a book blog since the start of the year, but the stats are pretty depressing (does this matter? - maybe not). Anyway, to get to the point, the last book I blogged was The Himmler Brothers by Katrin Himmler - which I enjoyed immensely. http://www.southcoastsounds.org.uk/wordp...I look forward to visiting some of the other blogs referred to here (but I'm at work at the moment). Tom Message edited by its author, Aug 30, 2007, 9:15am. my latest post is on Breakfast with Buddha by Roland Merullo and the blog is now at www.bostonbibliophile.com. Message edited by its author, Oct 8, 2007, 4:31pm. My latest book review is Cell by Stephen King. creepy, scary, terrifying book (so very King) and now I have to sleep with the lights on. :-o My review of "Aberrations" by Penelope Przekop is up (plus an author interview, and giveaway) See here. *spammed all over b/c I'm a terrible person who posts to every contest/blog thread..... My review of The White Mary is up at my blog, www.bostonbibliophile.com. Ha! I'll ruin your exclusive party, thekoolaidmom and skrishna! :-p This week I reviewed I, robot by Howard S. Smith, and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer. Yeah, skrishna and valkylee
I've been fighting a bad case of the drowsies the last couple days. I need to go buy some toothpicks to keep my eyes open! The weather's so warm and it's so quiet with the hum of the fan and the birds singing. I just can't semtos stay awakee..................................... huh? what?? musta fallen asleep... again. I received The Rabbit and the Snowman in the mail today. It's a cute, children's book. My review is In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. My latest review is of Surviving Ben's Suicide by C. Comfort Shields- which I'm also giving away a copy of. See the review, my interview with the author, and my giveaway details here. Maggie and I finished Gooney Bird Greene by Lois Lowry. It's a very cute book, and one that's as captivating as Junie B.. Great book for ages 6-10, and I liked it, too so parents of those in that age group. :-D It's a great classroom read, I know because I'd sat in on it when Mags was in 2nd grade. My review for it is In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. Ooo... Kay... I was the only-est reviewer this weekend? My review for One More Year by Sana Krasikov is In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. I was not that impressed by the book, for the most part. It's not exaclty a book, but it's book related: I posted my interview with Nam Le, author of The Boat, it's In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. It's my first author interview! :-D I finished Tan Lines by J. J. Salem today... quite the sizzler, let me tell you! My review is In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. valkylee: I usually have no desire, but The Boat was just one of those books that made me want to ask the author a million questions. And, for the most part, I tried to make them different from all the other interviews he's done. The first question, though, is one everyone asks him. Message edited by its author, Jul 24, 2008, 11:30pm. Not a review exactly, but a discussion I want to get brewing: So on my blog I was rambling this morning about classic books and how much I preferred Penguin-published books. But I'm very curious to hear/see what publishers others prefer, and why. Do you like the fancy leather-bound Easton Press? Do you just want them cheap as possible? http://fashion-piranha.livejournal.com/2...Just finished reading The Sleeping Doll by Jeffery Deaver, which was an amazing labyrinthine crime thriller with twists and unexpected realizations at every turn. Great book! My review is In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. My last review was for The White Mary by Kira Salak. You can read the review here. I'm rather conflicted about this book. I wish I could have given it a better review, because there were parts of this book that I really, really loved. Unfortunately those things were overshadowed by elements that I disliked. I read and reviewed a wonderful children's book today, Mishka: An Adoption Tale by Adrienne Ehlert Bashista. It's a beautiful and sweet story of a Mama and Papa adopting Yuri from Russia. It's told from the POV of Mo the stuffed bear who is a present to Yuri at the beginning of the process. Maggie and My review of it is In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. PLUS! I'm giving away a signed copy of the book, so be sure to enter! The End of Mr. YOkay, I'll admit it. While the plot did intrigue me. And yes it was on half price offer. I bought this book, for one reason, and one reason only... The pages had black edges!!! Yep, I am that shallow! ;) As for what I thought of the plot, my first reaction and the only 3 words that have been sitting in this review’s draft version for the last week or so, are, ‘Hmm… Not sure…’ and just over a week later, that pretty much, still sums up my thoughts. Read the full review, on my blog. Ahem... Me again... This time with Sky BurialBeautifully written, you’ll lose all sense of time (just like Wen whose search spans 30 years), this is a story that will worm it’s way under your skin and its magic will stay with you long after you turn the last page. Read my full review at: Bart's Bookshelf. My last review was for Aberrations by Penelope Przekop. Read it here at Bookish Ruth. It's one of my favorite books of the year. (Edited to fix wonky link.) Message edited by its author, Aug 2, 2008, 3:23pm. Can you tell it's the weekend and I have time to be writing reviews? ;) tomorrow, when the war began and it's sequels by John Marsden. I’ve already blogged about a couple of books in this series (and the audio versions) on my site before, but I thought I might say a word or two about the series as a whole, seeing as they’d take up a sizable proportion of my ten books this year if I was to list them individually. First a little bit of history of how I came to read them. Now these books were a HUGE thing in their home country of Australia, but from what I can tell, they’re not as well known elsewhere, certainly not in the UK where I live and where I’ve never seen them in a bookshop. Fortunately for me however, I have an Australian friend, who despite a poor taste in cricket teams ;) has exemplary literary tastes. Perusing her website once day I came across a review, and I’ll be honest I was as much intrigued by the books title, as I was hooked by the review, and so a quick mooch and a few days later. A new addiction had begun… Read my review at: Bart's Bookshelf. Latest review is for, graphic novel, Life Sucks and can be found here. Thanks! I finished The Richest Season by Maryann McFadden today. I really enjoyed the book. It's an emotionally touching book, one I could really relate to. My review is In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. Finished, Looking for Alaska on Sunday. I decided to leave writing this review for a few days after finishing the book, hoping I’d better be able to capture my thoughts about this powerful novel, not sure it’s worked because I’m still struggling to put them into words without sounding sycophantic or clichéd. Because words like, wonderful, powerful, thoughtful, beautifully written all leap to mind. So sod it! Go. Read. Now! Read my full review here. My latest book review is listed at Stiff right here on LT. Great book, by the way! I just finished Twilight, and I'm hooked... I'm not going to stoop to the stuff, because I think I'm just to old for that. :-D Anyway, my review is In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~... Since I was the last poster, I won't post two in a row. I posted my review of the morbidly hilarious book Cherise the Niece by J. K. Benton In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. Message edited by its author, Aug 9, 2008, 3:14pm. 3... 16... what's the difference? :-D 16 is not bad at all :) Small class ;) We'll grow, I'm sure! Maybe just some promotion? But don't know how to do it. I post my reviews on Thursdays. I always forget to come in here and link. *Celebrates fact that she was post #100* After much consternation: Just posted my review of Dali & I by Stan LauryssensI have never gotten the title touchstone to work. I finished reading New Moon and posted my review In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. BTW! Those of who who might be Twilight fans, Meyers is writing another Twilight book called Midnight Sun and it's told from Edward's perspective. :-D I read Blaze yesterday, my review is In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. I rather enjoyed it. It was a bit different from Stephen King's usual fair which is why he had written it under the nom de plume of "Richard Bachman." Three very good books, highly recommended and reviewed on my blog

Aphra Behn’s Love-Letters Between a Noble-Man and his Sister My latest review is about the audio-book version of Fragile Things by Neil GaimanIt’s a real treat to hear the author read his other own work, especially when like Gaiman, they are as equally proficient at telling tales as they are at writing them. His narration is as good as any I have heard, whether it be author, actor or professional audio-book artist, always clear and well paced, he brings the stories and characters to vivid life, and you’re compelled to listen to him tell you more and more. Read my full review here: http://www.bartsbookshelf.co.uk/2008/08/...Mouse Guard Autumn 1152The artwork is what first drew me to this book, it is absolutely gorgeous! Richly coloured and detailed every panel holds your attention and demands to be lingered over, and this is important as quite a bit of the story-telling is done with the artwork alone and it works brilliantly... Jenlaw, I see that your Amazon search engine isn't giving you credit for sales either. What's up with that?!? ThePam, I've been curious about this, myself. I seem to get an awful lot of clicks but no sales with Amazon. How did you find out she wasn't getting credit? Ahh, everyone has a code. Mine starts with PAS, and when I click on a book on my site and it goes to the Amazon page that code appears at the top and assures me that I'll get credit. Last weekend I noticed that this was not happening with the general search box. Ticked me off because I know my sister made a purchase and I didn't get credit. I emailed Amazon but haven't hear back from them yet. In any case, I checked JenLaw's box while perusing her site and noticed that she was not getting credit either. --- You know, I just checked out your site and it looks like your books are working. That is if you code starts with "nob". And Your site looks wonderful on the kids' 21 inch screen. Message edited by its author, Sep 27, 2008, 2:59pm. I looked at the page source for jenlaw's page and, strangely, it looks like the part of the code with the affiliate name is commented out of the script for the search box.
I have had problems with Wordpress altering javascripts in similar ways (commenting out certain parts of the script), so it would pay to compare the code that is cut and pasted from Amazon with the code in the blog page after it has been saved.
I'm not saying that's what's happening, but it's possible that there's something funky going on when the code is saved, especially if the code in the page is different from the code that comes from the Amazon page. Hmmm. When I look at the code in the Blogger html box it has my correct number. Not that that means you aren't correct, Anysia, only that it's gonna be an easy fix. When I looked at Jenlaw's, the affiliate number was there, but it looked like it was commented out (commented out meaning it is visible to the eye, but not being read by the script).
Not sure if we're talking about the same thing. Just wanted to inform all of you book bloggers out there about a new book called Rocket Man by William Elliot Hazelgrove that will be released in December 2008. I have read and reviewed the book for frontstreetreviews.com so once my review is posted there, it'll be on my blog ( http://bookopolis.blogspot.com). The book is a modern-day satire of the American Dream and was actually pretty funny and well-written. I was contacted by the publishers to spread the word, so if anyone wants to find out more info about the book or get the contact info to receive an ARC just PM me. Thanks!! Running a little bit behind. At http://www.booksforkids-reviews.comI've reviewed: Seuss' "Butter Battle Book" "George, the Dragon and the Princess" (wonderful book about a dragon fighting mouse) And "ABC3D" (a good alphabet popup book) Don reviewed: "THE CATS IN KRASINSKI SQUARE" by Karen Hess For the ABC3D there's a movie -- we don't get to do that for a book too often :) And for George, we have artwork you won't see anywhere else. Message edited by its author, Oct 18, 2008, 7:12pm. At http://www.PageInHistory.com I've reviewed two books no one has any interest in. The first is one I received from Mini Book Expo: "The Practical Surveyor" by Samuel Wyld. Orig published 1725 --lol And the second is an academic tome entitled simply "Sparta". It's a compendium of journal articles meant for history majors. Message edited by its author, Oct 18, 2008, 7:16pm. The Graveyard Book by Neil GaimanThe book is an utter, utter delight to read, and is populated with fantastic characters and a fabulous world for them to inhabit. I have seen in mentioned by others, that just like another of Gaiman’s books Coraline it works on many levels, younger readers will find a fantastic adventure, and older readers will as well of course, but will also find some horror lurking beneath the surface. Read and comment on my full review at: http://www.bartsbookshelf.co.uk/2008/10/... I just posted a review for The Enigma Woman by Kathleen A. Cairns at: NoBSBookReviewsI just posted my review of Terminal Spy which I was really hoping to like, but didn't (I'm not alone judging by other reviews here). Oops. wrong posted in wrong place Message edited by its author, Oct 29, 2008, 4:31pm. I've been embarrassingly lax lately. I still have yet to write a review for Wizard of Eathsea, I have a couple more chapters to read for last month's ER book and a review to write, and I'm already on to other books. I'm still trying to get reviews written for the books I read during the summer. My latest review is on my blog: The Penguin Complete Ghost Stories of M.R. James http://jlshall.blogspot.com/2008/11/revi...Message edited by its author, Nov 19, 2008, 5:56pm. My latest post was on a SALE on a 6-volume set Jane Austen books Oxford Press is offering for $44 dollars! www.booksforkids-reviews.com --- It's part of some Christmas book suggestions. Message edited by its author, Nov 22, 2008, 7:35am. I just posted my review of The Magician's Nephew by C. S. Lewis In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. I've been busily reading and reviewing trying to make my goal of 75 by Dec. 31st, so there are a few more there since the last time I posted one here. I got sidetracked by a virtual reality thing called Second Life, and lost a few months of time. I'm also having a Book Bucks Giveaway until Dec. 31st. $25, $15, $10 and $5 gift cards for your choice of Borders, Amazon, or Barnes & Noble., so don't forget to sign up ;-) It's been a while since I posted here, so I wont list every review since then, just my latest. The Book of Dead Days by Marcus Sedgwick | ReviewMessage edited by its author, Jan 1, 2009, 11:41am. My list of reviews has gotten so long that I am posting a link to it here instead of listing them: http://fashion-piranha.livejournal.com/3...I'll try to return to this thread more often so it doesn't get so long again! I finished Exit Ghost by Philip Roth earlier today, my reveiw is In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. When I started the book, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it, having never read Roth before. It was exceptional, though, and I'll definitely have to read another book by him again :-) I'm doing something a little different right now, for my review of Throw Out Fifty Things. I'm actually trying to go through the book and follow her instructions to clear out my place. Review includes pictures of my messy living room. This is a link to the series of posts on this (more forthcoming tomorrow and maybe even next week). I'm new to this list so greetings to all. I blog about books at chaotic compendiums. My latest reviews are on: The Spanish Game by Charles Cumming Fall by Colin McAdam A Cook's Tour by Anthony Bourdain cheers, c. I just posted my review of Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury on my blog In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. I included a vid clip about a parent trying to get Fahrenheit 451, a book warning about the danger of book banning, banned from the school curriculum. I don't think he read it, btw, because the things he points out are ridiculous. My newest review is of Angels of Destruction by Keith Donohue, which I received as an ARC. I can say without a doubt it's one of the best books I've read this year. You can read it here.I finished You Suck by Christopher Moore and posted my review In the Shadow of Mt. TBR. I really enjoyed this book, and couldn't put it down. Moore' wit, knack for finding humor in the absurd, and peculiar (but fun) characters made for a very fun read. It was my first Moore book, but it won't be my last :-) My latest review is of Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris. I loved it and my review can by found here. My blog is new so I could use all of the support I can get! The Widow of Ratchets - mine is the only review of this decent little gothic/supernatural romance. Message edited by its author, Jul 24, 2009, 4:56pm. Just added a semi-long one to The Hellfire Club by Peter Straub. I'm very glad I re-read it since I couldn't remember a single thing about it from the first time around. Very strange considering how good it is. My last review is actually six. I went to Boston and read a bunch of books related thereto, and reveiewed them all here. Here is my latest review. haven't posted a new review in a while. My next one will probably be for Brandon Sanderson's Elantris which I'm rereading. (back to top)
