Well, the candy-crazed month known as October has ended, and now we move into the Turkey-Day and shopping-crazed November.
I have a lot of books from the Library that I need to read, but I working on finishing
Grave Peril first.
I'm finishing up "Victory of Eagles" and then will start on "Cat in a Sapphire Slipper" Jim is reading "Wicked"
I'm reading
Flora's Dare right now -- sequel to
Flora Segunda, which I really enjoyed. I'm also reading
Little Women, because I realized at the last movie watch that I hadn't read the book in several years, so I thought it was time for a reread.
I
finally finished
Warrior Boy and Dragon Girl (aka
Brisingr). Now I can return it and no longer have the library overdue fees hanging over my head. I owe 70 cents!
Now it is time to catch up with
Fellowship of the Ring and then I am going to reread
Little Women like Foggi. Comparing the two movies during Group Movie night has really got me wondering what was original and what was made up. I am also interested to see which stuck to the book better. I might have to rent the June Alyson version and watch that, too.
#6 paola, I love
The Thirteenth Tale! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it!
#7 Hooray for compski for finishing
Fire!
All of you who are finishing Fellowship of the Ring, don't forget to comment on the appropriate thread(s)! (Yes, I know, I need to catch up, too . . .)
I finished
Fingersmith and started
Summer at Tiffany and the second Kiki Strike book. I reading research right now so these are my fun books and necessarily a bit lighter.
ok...I put down
Ptolemy's Gate today and decided to read
Wicked Lovely which is really really good the only reason I put it down is because Tom came home... he had a bad day so I am babying him.
#20 Renald, I haven't read any of those, but welcome to HE! :)
I FINALLY finished a book! It's probably been about 2 weeks since my last completed book. :( I'm blaming
Dragon Girl & Warrior Boy Do Pointless Things. And having too many dresses to alter and kids to teach (..and socks to knit). Anyway, I finished
Dewey. It was great, of course, for anyone who likes cats or pets. Non-animal people might not understand. ;)
(Did I get all the common emoticons in there?)I think you missed one, lefty.
:P~~~
I want to read
Dewey! I need to remember to borrow it. Only, my mom is afriad to lend it to me. She told me his full name - it's so cute!
Oh, right -- thanks for reminding me of that one, K. :P~~~
Is she afraid to let you borrow it because you'll never give it back?
#20 Renald128
I love
Blindness. Its one of my favourite books, I can read it again and again and get something different from it every single time.
#23 lefty:
You're always welcome! ;)
I don't think she'd worry about that. I still have her book,
Sickened, but she has my copy of
A Little Princess.

LG, I just finished
Fingersmith, too. Great book! Thanks for recommending it.
Glad you liked it, K!
#26 LG, did you like
Looking for Alaska? I read it a few months ago. I was hooked from the first page when the chapter was marked "before."
re:
Fingersmith>> It's high on my TBR list and it just got higher. I need more reading time!!
Looking for Alaska is in my TBR pile. I'm not even sure that I remember what it's about, but so many of you had mentioned it that I got it from a used bookstore a while ago. ;)
Fingersmith is nice. It isn't modern and reminds me a bit of a classic I've read, but it's truely unique and has some mystery as well. Extraordinarily plot twisting.
Enjoy your books, bella! I've only read the first half of
Ink Exchange - I was reading it when I left NY. (It was suge's.) From what I did read, it was good. I hope
Revelations is, too. That one snuck up on me. I hadn't known the release date until day of.
I need to write down all these titles and then go get them to read, maybe that will expand my reading interests
lefty, check my review of Looking for Alaska. It was pretty good, but it had a couple of flaws, imo. I didn't love the ending. It definitely had good characters and a good "feel" of high school.
ETA: poop! LT did that post-eating thing with my review. I had to recreate it, but the magic of my original prose is now missing.
*grumble, grumble, technology, grumble*
Message edited by its author, Nov 6, 2008, 12:26pm.
Revelations is out! How exciting. *makes an addition to her B&N list*
LG, I agree! But it was a good read anyway.
Bella, I am in shock. You hadn't read books 1 or 2 yet?! Your boyfriend either knows what he is doing by getting you to read your TBR pile (books 1 & 2) or is a bad influence as much as we are for your TBR pile increasing. ;)
I'm still reading
Rebel Angels and
The Enneagram Made Easy. I hope to finish the second of the two today.
I'm still reading
Joy Luck Club and
Ptolemy's Gate.
I usually read a couple chapters before I go to bed. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem like there is enough time in the day to read them all.
Stupid school and all the homework.
And stupid me for not reading.
Soon I'll have to get a job too so that will slow me down.
::sigh::
lol K! no I have read books 1 and 2 both but I wanted to reread them before I read
Revelations*smacks hand to head*
I keep forgetting to read Son of a Witch. I promise I will read it, Kerian, some day.
Someday. Sure. ;) Hee hee. I'm honestly being just as awful about reading it for the second time. I can't really remember a great amount about the book so I don't want to read the new book until then. I do remember my theories about book 2, though! I can't say anything so must bite my tongue. Any luck with it being available on your kindle?
Hey, remember I bought
Son of a Witch the day it came out and still haven't read it (hollybeee's fault!)
Marensr - I haven't read the second Kiki Strike book. Is it as good as the first?
I just finished listening to
Heir Apparent, which I love, but the narrator was a little annoying. Still, the story was great. I'm going to start
The Thief tonight. And I got
The Well of Ascension and
Men at Arms from the bookstore today, happy happy!
Oh, enjoy
The Thief! I love that book! And the sequels are, in my opinion, even better.
I'm almost done with Little Women, which is a good thing because I have TBRs stacking up like planes over Atlanta.
I just reserved Gregory Maquires book "A Lion Amoung Men" at the library it sounds really good
I got
The Eyre Affair at this weekend's book sale so I'm probably going to start it soon. It is the first one, right?
I started
The Other Book because I have it out from the library and feel compelled to read it before it's extremely late.
The Thief is on my TBR pile. Glad to know the series only gets better -- that's rare!
yep, that's the first one. It's very good, too.
#49.MrAndrew : I read that book and I thought it was just ok, I mean the story was interesting and everything but I felt something was missing. How are u liking it so far?
It's interesting enough so far, but i'm only halfway through. It's not the sort of thing i usually read.
the Thief was just ok, imho.
Im reading
Touchstone.
Finished Touchstone, which was just ok and I'm now reading
My Name is Will.
I don't think it's possible to finish the enneagram book I'm reading since you can apply it to other people after applying it to yourself. It's like that book,
If you give a mouse a cookie (which insisted that you reread it once you completed it. ;) I'm going to have to put it aside. I hope by the end of tomorrow to finish my other book,
Rebel Angels.
I saw it touchstoned recently and laughed to myself about it.
Ah, I see your review, LG! Maybe she'll write a better one next time.
It wasn't bad, just not her best.
Okay so I finished
Night World 1 and I am now thinking of doing a reread of twilight, HP, or Womens Murder club series... it is getting cold out so I figure I need to go back to a comfort book for a bit. I am also thinking that after Thanksgiving I am going to read
A Charles Dickens ChristmasI decided, since my lunchtime/work read is on the heavy side, I'd go for a light fun reread at home, so I'm reading
The Cove. I have the whole series and haven't read the last two yet, so I'll probably work my way through the whole thing. They're not great writing, but they're fun.
I just finished
Blindness by José Saramago and
Lemony Snicket: The Bad Beginning and I liked them both, I think that Saramago's book was unusual and very well written although I don't share the author's point of view on many things I still think it was an excellent book and I think I'm going to start reading
Inkheart since I've heard so much of that book through here :D
I finished
Furies of Calderon because a friend suggested I read it since I like The Dresden Files, and I enjoyed it enough that I immediately checked the next book out from the library.
Then I picked up
Dragon and Thief because it was next in my stack, but I was having trouble getting into it, so I set it aside.
I also just finished a reread of
The King of Attolia because I felt like it.
Thanks a bunch Espy, for adding another book to my already- overlong tbr list:
Furies of Calderon. I looked at the book after you mentioned it, and since it looks good, I added it to my tbr pile. lol. ;-)
#68 Renald
Inkheart is a really good book. It's one of my favorites =)
nwing (#72), sometimes when people talk about the awesome books they've just read, I skim over the name of the book so I am not tempted. And sometimes I just add it to the list. After all, at this point, what's one (or twenty) more on the pile?
74, lefty: I know what you mean. When my tbr pile is about 60 book long, what's another 1 or 2... or 10?
So Kerian, which one on the enneagram are you? I just took the online test and apparently I'm a Helper. No surprise there.
I just finished
Good Omens and now I'm ready to start
Here Be Monsters.
#76 cmbohn:
Honestly, I was left a little confused. It's because of taking different versions online when I went to write my
blog entry for the book.
I answered the questions in my book about two weeks ago. It said I was a questioner the most. The questioner is for the head - my heart was a helper and my gut instinct was an asserter. Taking different versions of the test online Tuesday, two tests told me I was a helper the most, that I was still a questioner, but that I was a perfectionist versus an asserter. I'm not sure what to make of gut instinct anymore.
. . .
I didn't finish my book today. I thought I would be reading during my sister's tests, but the lights were out during them and I was in the room with her. Five minutes to sleeping beauty, an actual hour to me. ;)
I'm still reading The Science of Fear, and just finished
Duchessina, which is by Caroline Meyer.
started Kay Hoopers, Amanda, today pretty good so far
I finished
A Curse As Dark As Gold (very good book, by the way) and started on
Chalice, the new Robin McKinley book. So far it's good. The style is closer to that of her earlier novels (which I tend to like best; I felt that the last two or three were rather weak).
I'm glad you liked Curse, Foggi! I read it a couple months ago and really liked it. I hadn't heard McKinley had a new book! I'll have to look into that!
In 4 days our library is closing its youth section for a month because they're putting in new carpet and furniture. This means they are checking out the youth books for a month instead of the normal two weeks so they won't have to deal with incoming books. After work today I went and rented just about every title that caught my eye. I have a big, big stack. :D
#77 - Hope you can figure it out. Mine was pretty much dead on, so I feel confident about it. But these tests are all in the way they're worded, so it's hard to tell for sure.
My son got me
The Maze of Bones for my birthday and now I'm all into this 39 Clues thing. It's so much fun. I was playing with the website for hours.
I'm reading Memoirs of an Anti-Semite (won't touchstone for some reason). When I read, I'll have to get out my audio copy of
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince due to the recently released trailer. Also, in 2 weeks when I go home for Thanksgiving, I'll be able to read Harry, a History.
Finished
The Historian on the 3rd (wonderful, if a tad long), slogged through
Fair and Tender Ladies for my bookclub read for a week before abandoning it, read
New Moon earlier this week, and am now onto
Eclipse. I was at work yesterday and happened to mention to my coworker that I'd devoured
New Moon and didn't know what I'd do while waiting for
Eclipse, as I was 44th on the waiting list at the Library. She turned around, walked to her office, and returned a moment later with both
Eclipse and Breaking Dawn for me to borrow!!
#84 grkmwk, what a nice coworker!
#85 MrA, good choice! Is that your first Zusak book?
#85 — You'll have to tell me what you think of it when you're done Mr A. I loved the book, as you already know.
I finished
Beauty today and I loved it!
#88 -- So glad you loved it!
Beauty is quite possibly my favorite book. Have you read
The Hero and the Crown or
The Blue Sword yet? Those are by the same author, and I highly recommend them, as well.
Right now I'm reading
Into the Woods by Lyn Gardner. It's pretty good, but not great. I've had it out from the library for almost a month, so I thought I had better read it.
(
Edited for typos and touchstone wonkiness.)

#86: i've read
The Book Thief lefty, it was great.
>#87: I surely will. Were you still after an Australian edition? This is just a 2007-edition paperback, it's all i have been able to find *shakes fist at hard-to-get books*.
#90 — I was sort of looking for a hardcover edition, but I don't even know if the book was printed in hardcover. I Wonder what the internet says... Well... it seems I gave you a Sisyphian task. I just checked the book's publisher (Pan Macmillan Australia) and they don't have a hard cover version listed. Nor even for
The Book Thief, which seems weird (though your paperback of TBT looks much better than ours, in my opinion).
I have a paperback copy already, so I'm not too worried about it. Maybe you can tell me, though. What is a B-format Paperback? Foggi hasn't the foggiest. The page for
The Book Thief is
here.
Actually, this particular Sisyphus was slouched down behind the boulder having a smoke, hoping that Tartarus didn't notice. I don't take my tasks very seriously.
No idea what a B-format paperback is either. My copy is about 6x9inches, i would have called it trade-format (is that the right term?). I can't see reference to the format/binding type. We used to have another, smaller copy, which was good for the comfortness of reading and carrying. I would have called that mass-market.
Both my copes had that cover shown in the Pan Mcmillan site.
89 Foggi
I haven't read those ones yet. I own
Rose Daughter so I'll probably start that one soon.
I also started
Dragon Keeper last night.
#89 Foggi and #93 mindylou
I second the recommendations for
The Blue Sword and
The Hero and the Crown, they rank VERY high up on my list of favourite books and I can read them again and again and again without getting bored or fed up.
Chalice is her new one. It's on my wish list. But
Beauty is my favorite.
this topic seems boring can we talk about something else please?
This message has been deleted by its author.
Now now, Maura11. Like my mother always used to say, if you don't have something nice to say, staple your tongue.
#99 — So your tongue is full of staple holes?
#96 -- I just read
Chalice, and liked it (at least, better than
Dragonhaven, which was the release before this one). It's not up there with
Beauty and other of my absolute McKinley favorites, but it's one I'll read again.
Today's Crack me up score: MrA - 1, Espy - 1! Thanks to posts 99 and 100!
ETA: MrA did crack me up on elfster with his comment (optional). Should that count in the score?
Message edited by its author, Nov 16, 2008, 8:33pm.
I have finished my reread of the
twilight Series... now I am rereading the HP series too... holidays are stressful, and these are my comfort books lol
Just finished
The Graveyard Book.
Maybe I'll read
The indigo King next, before it's due back at the library.
I'm cursed with all of my library holds coming in at the same time.
#102 compski- Sure. Why not? Any objections espy?
Sooooo.... I'm still working on
Brisingr and
The Paradise War. I'm about halfway through both.
I put
Brisingr down to read later.
Rebel Angels is going poorly (?). It's hard to keep interest when I'm reading slow.
Read the first 4 books of "a Series of Unfortunate Events" last week with a couple other books mixed in. Currently reading
Orcs, a book were the Orcs are the protagonists. not to bad so far.
I'm reading
Reading Lolita in Tehran. So far I'm really enjoying it, the writing is sublime and I haven't read a book for some time where I feel like I'm in the room just observing what is going on. While it would normally be an all-nighter I've decided to savior it for a while and read it in a few chapters at a time.
Tonight or is it today? I finished HP/CS and started my reread of HP/PoA
I challenged myself to read 100 books this year, alas, I'm only up to 84 :( I don't know that I will make it.
I've been struggling thru
Brisingr since the day it came out. I'm also reading
Saint Maybe which is probably the most depressing book I've read since
God don't like ugly and
She's come undone. Gah. I'm almost finished with
Nightlife and I'm half way thru
Ender's Game, which is excellent.
I'm in the middle of
Cybele's Secret. I really loved
Wildwood Dancing (first book in that series), but am not quite as fond of Cybele's Secret.
Message edited by its author, Nov 22, 2008, 3:34pm.
I'm less than halfway through
Rebel Angels. I'm finding it very hard to read right now.
I tried to read
Mister B. Gone but put it down about halfway through. Reading Clive Barker's stuff reminds me of middle school kids playing the "What's Grosser Than Gross?" game.
I'm reading the third book in the Blue Is For Nightmares series called Silver Is For Secrets. I also just finished Shadow Kiss from the Vampire Academy series.
Message edited by its author, Nov 20, 2008, 1:54pm.
Twi-hard, how do you like the Blue is for Nightmare series? I haven't read it.
Started
Broad Street this morning, my Early Reviewer. It's not an ARC though, it's the actual book. It's the author's first book and the publisher's first book and the author works for the publisher, so it came signed, which was pretty cool. The publishing company is for Philly based writers, and the book is based in mid-90's Philly, so it should be somewhat familiar for me. :)
We have to do a group read of Beedle the Bard.
#123 -- Oh, we so do! After the holidays, perhaps. I suspect that many HE'ers have that on their Christmas list!
Good idea. It's on my wishlist too, but you know I'll buy it if I don't get it.
And Graveyard is now on my TBR list.
I am almost done with Brisingr!! I also started my ER book, The Jumping-Off Place.
Currently reading
The Dark is Rising for the first time. Now stop posting about all these great sounding books...my TBR list is inconceivably long.
#129: I struggled to finish
Interview with the vampire too!!! It's just that I consider Anne Rice as a great author but her books move a little too slow for my taste. Let me know what you think of it when you finish it.
P.S. GO ELLEVEE!!! U can do it.
#130 Thanks! I'm writing my own vampire book (but it's funny/scary, and has no vampire romance, and the vampires are BAD) so I'm partly reading it as research to see how other people characterize their vampires. But mainly, I don't get it. I still think Louis is whiny and Lestat is boringly obnoxious. Maybe I was spoiled by too much 'Buffy' at a young age.
But I AM giving it another shot, and I WILL succeed this time! Thanks for the support!
I got Tales of Beedle and the Bard for my birthday, too. (Not an ARC, alas. ;)
#131 ellevee:
Good luck with your book! :)
Becuase I just saw
the movie , I think it might be time to reread that series. * opens up the pdf of the book*
Message edited by its author, Nov 22, 2008, 12:24am.
#132 Kerian
Thanks! AND DARN YOU! I COVET that book. I lust over that book. I... think I need a non-book related hobby.
You're welcome. And sorry! ;)
Finished Breaking Dawn Wednesday evening and have been floundering since. I don't want to let Bella and Edward go! Might have to pick up HP...
I just read
The Diamond of Drury Lane. I enjoyed it -- it reminds me of something, but I can't think what. I wouldn't say it was great writing, but it was a fun read.
#136 grkmwk
have you watched the Twilight movie yet??
It made me love them even more.
I've just started
Roads to Quoz. I'm also about halfway through A Tale of Two Cities, and recently started
No Country for Old Men, though I'm not particularly enjoying it.
Out of them all, my favorite will probably end up being Quoz.
#138 mindylou182: Not yet, but I hope to go soon. Of course, this coming week is rather crazy busy with multiple Thanksgiving gatherings with friends and family, so I might have to wait 'til early December. I'm really excited, though!
I liked it a lot. As much detail as the book had, I think they did a pretty good job picking out details for the movie.
Finished
Welsh Terrier, so that means I need to finish my 2 that I'm in the middle of.
Oh, compski, be sure to stock up on Kleenex. Just sayin'.
I've been rereading the
Little House books -- about all I can handle, since I am not feeling well. Now I've moved on to a reread of
The Outlaws of Sherwood. More comfort reading.
144 Thanks for the warning, LG. I have read
Autobiography of a Face so based on what I know, should I get one box of Kleenex or two?
I finished The Jumping-Off Place! I will
definitely be done with
Brisingr by the end of Thanksgiving break. Or perhaps I'll just finish it tomorrow to get on a "finishing book" roll.
I just finished
Indigo King which I liked much better than the second book in the series. Next I think I'll read
Wesley the Owl.
Rereading Breaking dawn at the moment... I have no clue what I am going to read next... I am on a vampire kick though so I am thinking something by Anne Rice... or maybe I will read
Inkheart... oh or something by
Stephen KingJust started Harry, A History last night.
#146 Two boxes for sure. Poor Lucy sure got dealt a bad hand, but what a great person.
I lost my page yesterday when Tumbledore took my bookmark from
Rebel Angels. I still need to find it. I won't get to LT much so I will say that the next book I read will be a two-in-one of Lewis Carrol's Alice stories. I might start it before finishing the other book.
You're just now getting to
Untamed?! You bought it the day it came out, didn't you? ;)
I know what reference you're taking about for
Ink Exchange. It was in P.C. Cast's book.
Now that I've seen the movie and it won't make me crazy, I'm rereading
the series. I finished
Twilight on Monday and have about 200 pages left of
Eclipse (I read the last chapter (Vote) of
New Moon, but didn't feel like plodding through the whole thing right now). I mostly want to reread Breaking Dawn. I'm also trying really hard to not read what Stephenie posted of Midnight Sun, I don't think it's ethically right, but I'm dying to get inside Edward's head.
#158 bib - As the copyright/IP educator at my library, I was horrified by what happened to Ms. Meyer with regard to Midnight Sun. Unfortunately, misuse of (intentional and otherwise), and outright theft of, intellectual property, and moral rights (which are NOT protected by US copyright law), happens frequently, although usually not with someone as well-known and beloved as Ms. Meyer. However, after her initial anger and hurt, I believe she handled the situation well, in that she made the excerpt available on her site for her fans to read so they would not feel guilty or compromised in reading it, while also giving everyone a great lesson on copyright and its importance. Because of that, I decided to read it, as I've had significant withdrawal issues since finishing Breaking Dawn last week. I'm really glad I did, although after finishing it a little while ago, I'm sad all over again.
Over the holiday weekend, I am going to attempt to get past my
Twilight fixation by reading my book club's December pick:
Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters.
My goal this long weekend is to finish
Brisingr.
#160: Ms_Bella, I read
Pet Sematary and really liked it, and I can totally see the resemblance between it an thanksgiving *says it in a sarcastic tone* lol
#159: Thank you. Having just finished my reread of Breaking Dawn, I think I probably will break down and read it. I'll just continue to hope that she'll be able to finish it someday, at which time I will happily purchase a copy and hopefully alleviate my guilt for reading it free! I hope you like
Crocodile on the Sandbank, that's one of my favorite series and definitely my favorite mystery series. :)
Finished
Harry, A History two days ago. It's a great relaxing read, which brings back some of my nostalgic Harry Potter-related memories. I started
Frostbite two days ago and will finish tonight. Tomorrow, I'll go to the library and get a book (or two) from my uber long tbr list to read at school.
ETA: at library; got
Fordor's France 2008 ,
Chew on This, and
Kingdom Coming: the rise of Christian Nationalism.
Message edited by its author, Nov 29, 2008, 12:53pm.
I finished
Brisingr! :D You can do it, Kirby! It gets better the farther you get.
I have a huge stack from the library right now, so I'll pick something from that next. Or perhaps I'll finish something else on my "currently reading" list.
Finished a reread of
A Town Like Alice, one of my favourite 'romantic' books. Good for when I'm feeling tired or rundown!
Now started
The Summer Tree which I didn't think I'd like at first, but I'm giving it a fair chance.
I've recently had to return my entire library stack unread. It's amazing how much time a job takes up. I need to find a way to get paid to read books... or play video games...
No proofreading jobs are open?
I read
Changeling by Delia Sherman today. I haven't sat down to read a book in one sitting in a while, and it was one of the shorter ones off my library stack. This book has nothing to do with the movie that recently came out, by the way. It's about fairies and New York Between (an alternate, fairy-run NYC). A nice little fantasy adventure story.
Espy, too bad those kinds of jobs don't seem to hire often. Though maybe proofreading.
I am still having issues on what to read out of my TBR next... I just can't decide.
I don't think they hire proofreaders as much as they used to. And judging by some of the books I've read lately, they don't even hire editors.
#173: KIK!
Message edited by its author, Nov 29, 2008, 10:36pm.
I think I might read Anna Karenina or Pride and Predjudice... I am in the mood for a classic
I've started reading
Does My Head Look Big in This?. So far it is a real LOL book. I have to finish it tonight as it is an Angel Mooch Andrew is doing.
#44 Not my fault!
#177: It so is! You were the one who was all "I'm scared to read it because his last few books haven't been good, what if it ruins
Wicked?"
and Hi!
#173 True!!
After finishing
Changeling, I started
Here Be Monsters! by Alan Snow (why are authors not touchstoning lately?). It's mildly amusing, but not as good as I was hoping.
Hi, holly! One of my sisters wondered the same thing about that book.
I'm still reading
Rebel Angels. I haven't really been getting much reading in.
#164: I, too, hope she finishes Midnight Sun, as I will also buy it, both because the partial draft was tantalizing and because if she does have the courage and strength to finish it, I want her to have rockin' sales to assuage any lingering doubt or anger over the leak. And thanks for the good word about the Elizabeth Peters book. I didn't get a chance to start it over the weekend, but will soon!
I finished Midnight Sun, but I'm still unwilling to leave the world of
Twilight. I noticed that the chapter titles for the two books are the same, so I decided to read them somewhat simultaneously. Read a chapter of
Twilight to get it from Bella's P.O.V. and then a chapter from Midnight Sun. Of course, I can only do this for half the chapters, but it should be fun. I have to say, I think I prefer reading Edward...his insecurities are less grating for some reason.
I prefer Edward's version too, Bib. Less ... girly? Or maybe it's that forbidden quality to it that makes it more exciting. No, really, I think it's just that the Cullens are far more interesting than, well, humans. And from Edward's side, we're surrounded by Cullens.
*sniffle*
Why do I read memoirs about other people's animals when I know how they'll end and I know what that will do to me?
*wanders off to find more tissues*
I did the same thing.
Marley and Me was so worth it though. I cried for the last 3 or so chapters.
*hands jp a tissue*
Was it
Marley and Me, JP? If so, *handing over several more tissues*
I hope you enjoyed the book nonetheless!
It was
Wesley the Owl, but thanks for the warning. I'll take my time before picking up Marley and Me.
My book was hilarious for most of it. I kept reading passages out loud to the family. But the author does mention at the last chapter:
"The one thing I hate about animal stories is that after you'ver almost read the entire book and you really care about the animal, they go and tell you all about how the animal died." She even tells you to stop reading there if you don't want to hear about it. But I have a compulsive need to finish what I start.

I know what you mean, JP!
Hey, everyone -- there's a
new thread for discussing your December reads!
#184 holly:
I am sad to hear it! I still need to read book three.
RE Midnight Sun,
I have only read the first chapter. I refuse to read the thirteen or so chapters available online until Meyer has it published.
#187 --> *big hugs for jp!* I have done the same thing. I know it is very sad. :(
bib & lefty - I too found Edward's POV to be much more engaging than Bella's. Strictly as a character, I found Edward much more compelling throughout the
Twilight series, so I'm not surprised by my preference for Midnight Sun. Of course, this only makes me that much more eager for her to finish!
lefty & grkmwk: I agree with both of your reasons. I think it helps to understand his point of view too, it makes him a little more....human....weirdly. It's nice to see that he's almost more insecure than Bella (but conversely makes me even more upset by the way Kristin Stewart played her in the movie)
157--> Yep. I bought it the very day, but with one book (Twilight) or another (Twilight) I hadn't been able to get into it. It was great btw. I really like that series.
158---> I WANT to reread The Series soooo bad right now! uhhhhhg!
I love the series, too. Don't forget book five comes out in March! It's amazing how fast those things are published.
Sand bag after sand bag! KIK. I think Kirby may be saving us all. She needs an award. We can put it in the Hogwarts trophy room. :)
ok I am pretty sure that this is the thread where we were talking about Midnight Sun... I came across an interview that was done by entertainment weekly where Stephenie talks about releseing Midnight Sun... Here is the article... yet again, sorry for not being able to link...
http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20234559...NVM it links automatically hah.

Aw, man!
Thanks, bella!
That is going to be strange; very different! (Re: question three.)
#198: Okay, everyone stop talking about it!
Talk about what??? *wink wink*
I have been reading the "Jeeves" books. They are great!
