Nov 3, 2008, 4:17pm (top)Message 1: JodyreadseverythingSorry for the delay everyone. Here's the quote: But instead of vomit, what came out of ________ was a long, low buzz - the sound of a factory machine which has been put under severe strain. ________'s eyes bulged from his face like glass marbles and his cheeks were so taut that little crescents of shadow appeared under the corners of his eyes. It went on and on, a rumbling, rasping noise, and when it finally ceased, the genny out back seemed far too loud. This is a bit of a cheek as I failed to post last time and I'm not sure I can really be bothered this time either, but is it The Green Mile? Nov 3, 2008, 4:31pm (top)Message 3: JodyreadseverythingNo, not the Green Mile. Hm... I'm thinking it's from one of the stories in Everything's Eventual, not sure why. This does sound very familiar though. This message has been deleted by its author. Nov 3, 2008, 6:35pm (top)Message 7: JodyreadseverythingIt is Dreamcatcher, when Jonesy and Beaver are in the cabin with McCarthy when he first shows up. It's his name I blanked out. Your go Beeg, well done. ________ gave him a final, furious glance, his lips twisting and bucking as the words bottled up behind them struggled to find their way out. ehh, WAG It Nov 3, 2008, 8:54pm (top)Message 10: beegno :) Nov 4, 2008, 12:51pm (top)Message 11: angelikathmmm, maybe The Gunslinger? Nov 4, 2008, 4:31pm (top)Message 12: beegnope, not that either Nov 4, 2008, 6:48pm (top)Message 13: beckylynnNov 4, 2008, 6:59pm (top)Message 14: jseger9000Nov 4, 2008, 7:00pm (top)Message 15: jseger9000Oh! Or Graveyard Shift? (I'm trying to think of a story where a character was FURIOUS with another character who held power over him...) Nov 4, 2008, 8:35pm (top)Message 16: beegIt's The Shining unless you want to take it back ;) ya know jseger, since doing these quotes I'm amazed at how many times Uncle Stevie uses the same descriptions and situations. After awhile they *all* start to seem familiar. Nov 5, 2008, 12:51pm (top)Message 17: jseger9000Oh no. The Shining is my official pick. I'll always remember the first line of that book "Jack Torrence thought: Officious little prick." Nov 5, 2008, 1:12pm (top)Message 18: beegI like "blows his nose and takes a peek" I'm always amazed at how many people do that. Nov 5, 2008, 1:20pm (top)Message 19: tjm568Was it From A Chevy Eight? Nov 5, 2008, 2:57pm (top)Message 20: CandiBelleit has to be the shinning. beeg i remember that exact part in the book and thinking the same thing. tons of ppl do that. Nov 5, 2008, 3:25pm (top)Message 21: beegsorry for the confusion CandiBelle, Jseger won the quote and now we're just talking about our favorite other quotes from The Shinning Pick a quote Jseger, you're up. Nov 5, 2008, 9:54pm (top)Message 22: jseger9000Sorry beeg, I understood. I just went out to dinner and haven't had the chance to pick a quote. I'm working on it right now... Nov 5, 2008, 11:59pm (top)Message 24: SwinnyThe Tommyknockers? I never actually read it, even though it's at the top of my list of ones to read, but I know it takes place in Haven, so... Nov 6, 2008, 6:37am (top)Message 25: JodyreadseverythingIt is the Tommyknockers and it's a great book (and a pretty good magic trick too). I hope you enjoy it Swinny. Sorry jseger for hijacking and confirming but I do love that book and couldn't resist. Nov 6, 2008, 6:37am (top)Message 26: JodyreadseverythingLove the book so much I posted that comment twice. Message edited by its author, Nov 6, 2008, 6:38am. Nov 6, 2008, 8:41am (top)Message 27: jseger9000Yeah, it was The Tommyknockers. I was going to blank out the reference to Haven, but thought it messed up the flow of the quote. The Tommyknockers is one of his books that regularly gets dumped on, even by his fans and I never understood why. That one (along with Desperation and The Regulators) are a couple of my favorites, yet they all get smacked around from time-to-time. On the other hand, Insomnia is usually praised and I didn't much like that one at all. Nov 6, 2008, 9:38am (top)Message 28: beegLOL I love how we all vary on our King books. I never liked The Tommyknockers but I don't remember why? Didn't love Insomnia either, something about those bubble headed Drs. I'm curious to see if I like the books any better at this age. Nov 6, 2008, 2:00pm (top)Message 29: SwinnyNice, glad I was able to get one. As far as The Tommy Knockers goes, like I said I never read it, but I did read Insomnia, and I agree that it wasn't the greatest, I heard great things about it and expected more. It was good, but it wasn't one of his best. Alright, now onto the quote... He threw her on the bed beside me and I saw that she was dead, and that's when I woke up screaming. With an erection. Nov 6, 2008, 2:39pm (top)Message 30: Madcow299Apt Pupil but then I'm not sure that's written in first person. Nov 6, 2008, 3:43pm (top)Message 31: BookslothNov 6, 2008, 3:50pm (top)Message 32: SwinnyNope, it's neither of those. Her hand came up and seemed to grab for the back of my neck, as a person falling from a cliff may grasp blindly at anything to hold on just a little longer. Then it fell away and lay limply on the grass, palm up. She trembled once more-the whole delicate weight of her trembled in my arms-and then she was still. Nov 6, 2008, 9:30pm (top)Message 38: jseger9000I'm not sure why... but I'm thinking... Cell? Nov 6, 2008, 10:21pm (top)Message 39: beegnah, I think it's The Running man, Swinny is on a Bachman roll :) Nov 6, 2008, 10:24pm (top)Message 40: SwinnyActually, it's not Cell OR The Running Man! I thought it was kind of obvious too, but I guess everyone looked passed the obvious, lol. Nice job. Nov 7, 2008, 3:10pm (top)Message 46: BookslothYay! I'm amazing! Try this one "There were no bad dreams that night. ------ and I went out to dinner, drank too much, went to a jazz place where we hadn't been in nearly six years, and listened to that amazing blue-eyed black man, Dexter Gordon, blow his horn until almost two in the morning." Take it away, Beeg! Nov 8, 2008, 9:25pm (top)Message 55: klarsenmdI'm starting to wonder if beeg isn't somehow secretly related to Stephen in some way. HaHa! Nov 9, 2008, 8:24am (top)Message 58: beegyeah, he was busy at that time ;) ok, gonna get a book for the next quote as soon as I finish my tea. Nov 9, 2008, 10:20am (top)Message 59: beegok, sorry, I'm going out of town so who ever checks this first gets to do the next quote. Nov 9, 2008, 2:43pm (top)Message 60: ealaindraoiOk, I've got one. "Bodice-rippers are one of my secret vices," ------ said, "Better than chocolate because they don't make you fat and the men in them are better than real men because they don't call you at four in the morning, drunk and whining for a second chance." Nov 9, 2008, 8:12pm (top)Message 61: JodyreadseverythingNov 9, 2008, 8:46pm (top)Message 62: jseger9000That was my first guess too, but it seemed too obvious. Also, it doesn't sound like Annie to me (though I guess it could be another character in a flashback I suppose). How about The Dark Half? Shoot! I know there's another book or two where SK mentions that one of his characters are reading one of the Misery Chastain novels. I bet the quote is from there. Unfortunately I'm blanking on which books/characters those are... Nov 9, 2008, 9:10pm (top)Message 63: BookslothA sort of wild guess but jseger9000 has started some faint bells ringing. Could it be Rose Madder? Nov 9, 2008, 10:22pm (top)Message 64: ealaindraoiAh, there you go, Booksloth. 'Tis Anna the head of Daughters and Sisters, and jseger was right, it was a Misery Chastain novel that she was referring to. Funny how those novel interweave. Nov 10, 2008, 8:58am (top)Message 65: jseger9000My spotty memory is a blessing and a curse. Nov 10, 2008, 10:08am (top)Message 66: BookslothIt was a blessing for me (heh, heh, heh!) Oooh-er. We're running out of books a bit, aren't we? Try this'n "A report card which did not contain all A's was an unacceptable report card. An A - was the subject of a lecture fraught with dire warnings of what life would be like digging ditches or emptying garbage cans, and a B resulted in punishment - most commonly confinement to his room for a week." Nov 10, 2008, 11:11am (top)Message 67: angelikatDéjà vu, was this quote already done? And why am I relating it to The Who? WAG The Waste Lands, where Jake was worrying about his essay grade. Nov 10, 2008, 11:19am (top)Message 68: BookslothNope, not The Waste Lands. I don't think it's been up before though I couldn't swear to it. As for The Who? Can't help you there I'm afraid :-( Nov 10, 2008, 11:39am (top)Message 69: JodyreadseverythingCould it be Christine? Arnie Cunningham's parents were a bit keen for him to keep studying. #67 angelikat, not sure about The Who but I can't read Dreamcatcher without thinking of The Rolling Stones singing We love you. Nov 10, 2008, 11:42am (top)Message 70: BookslothNot Christine either. Good guess though (as they say on quiz shows whenever someone gets it wrong - so, not so good, after all.) Nov 10, 2008, 11:52am (top)Message 71: JodyreadseverythingThat's okay, I was just coming back to change my mind. For some reason the short story Apt Pupil is poking at the back of my mind and whispering "pick me, pick me." Nov 10, 2008, 12:02pm (top)Message 72: beckylynnJody I was scrolling down so excited to make my guess but you got there before me........I just know that it's Apt Pupil. Nov 10, 2008, 12:11pm (top)Message 73: jseger9000Yeah, Apt Pupil was what came to mind for me. I didn't even think of Christine, though that's a very good suggestion. Or maybe Rage... What's wrong with using books that have been used already? i'm pretty sure a book can have more than one good quote after all. Nov 10, 2008, 12:25pm (top)Message 74: BookslothWow! Amazed so many of you knew it was Apt Pupil! Talk about great minds thinking alike! Congratulations! Except that it's not Apt Pupil (tee-hee-hee-hee-hee). Nov 10, 2008, 12:26pm (top)Message 75: BookslothOr Rage Nov 10, 2008, 12:28pm (top)Message 76: jseger9000Oh! Is it Word Processor of the Gods? I wouldn't think so only because I remember the parents being pretty dismissive... Nov 10, 2008, 12:29pm (top)Message 77: jseger9000Or It. Could be Stan's parents. This is a quote I remember reading... How many guesses do I get any way? Message edited by its author, Nov 10, 2008, 12:32pm. I think it just might be from an early short story. #69 Jodyreadseverything - I can't listen to Sting's The Dream of the Blue Turtles without thinking of Cycle of the Werewolf. Nov 10, 2008, 1:16pm (top)Message 80: BookslothNot Cycle of the Werewolf either. For me, the one that always sets me singing is The Stand. Blue Oyster Cult of course. Nov 10, 2008, 1:28pm (top)Message 81: jseger9000Or The Ramones song Pet Sematary... Nov 10, 2008, 2:05pm (top)Message 82: BookslothWas that a guess? Nov 10, 2008, 2:31pm (top)Message 83: klarsenmdDoes that mean it is Pet Semetary? I was going to guess The Long Walk. Nov 10, 2008, 3:03pm (top)Message 84: BookslothIt means it is neither Pet Semetary nor The Long Walk (one of my faves). Nov 10, 2008, 3:39pm (top)Message 85: jseger9000Oh, no. Pet Sematary wasn't a guess. Just adding to the convo about Sk and music. Everyone here has heard the Ramones song Pet Sematary, right? I don't wanna be buried in the Pet Sematary I don't want to live my life again... Right now, I'm outta guesses. Once I get home I will probably have second thoughts. Nov 10, 2008, 8:02pm (top)Message 88: BookslothSob, sob - just as things were going so well and I was feeling decidedly evil. You're right ealaindraoi - it is indeed The Langoliers - a story that pops into my mind and makes me look behind every time I take off in a plane. Nov 10, 2008, 10:44pm (top)Message 89: jseger9000Oh! Very good ealaindraoi! I never woulda got to The Langoliers! Nov 13, 2008, 11:58am (top)Message 120: angelikathmm, to me it sounds like a description of Walter, so I will guess that it is from The Gunslinger. It was the most vivid dream he'd had since the age of fourteen, when three or four brilliant wet-dreams had ushered him into physical manhood. It was the most horrible dream ever, hands down, nothing else even close. What made it horrible was the sense of impending doom that ran through it like a red thread. This was true even though the dream had a weird thinness: he knew he was dreaming but could not quite escape it. Nov 13, 2008, 7:32pm (top)Message 130: beckylynnDuma Key..........jseger you've got to read the Dark Tower series they're epic!! There's also so many relations in other books (obviously). Nov 13, 2008, 10:52pm (top)Message 131: jseger9000#130 - jseger you've got to read the Dark Tower series they're epic!! 'Epic' is the problem. I'm not a fan of 'dark fantasy' type stuff. I read the first two Dark Tower books and they just didn't thrill me. That's also why I'm not a fan of The Stand or most of Clive Barker's novels (though his Books of Blood stories were brilliant). As to the quote, could it be It? Nov 14, 2008, 8:02am (top)Message 132: TheBentleyThe Shining? I did read all the Dark Tower books, and I while I acknowledge they're quite an accomplishment, I'm not as crazy about them as everybody else. Since I've read them, it's hard to say, really, if they "cleared a lot up" from the other books. My sense is that if you read It, Insomnia, Hearts in Atlantis, and The Stand--and maybe Eyes of the Dragon, you've really got all you need to understand the "allusions" to the Dark Tower in the other books. For me, I don't think it's the dark fantasy that I don't care for. (I like Neil Gaiman when he's on his game, for instance.) I think it's the John Ford Western in them that bores me--lots of the rugged cowboy wandering alone on the prairie. Even though I usually enjoyed the books when I got into them, there always came a moment when I thought, sort of giddily, this movie's credits end with the words, "And Clint Eastwood as Frodo." Nov 14, 2008, 8:35am (top)Message 133: ealaindraoiNot Duma Key, not It, not the Shinning. I agree Bentley. I think I'd read a cereal box before a Louis L'Amour novel - so the whole lonesome prairie thing is lost on me. I read the DT books (actually I held off for a long time, I read 5,6 & 7 last year) but I didn't really love them. The "Clint Eastwood as Frodo" comment will now make me chuckle inside every time I think of DT! Nov 14, 2008, 9:05am (top)Message 134: jseger9000#133 - Not Duma Key, not It, not the Shinning. Nov 14, 2008, 9:25am (top)Message 135: ealaindraoiYeah, yeah the Shinning! It's all about SHINS...! The horror! The kick-ability! Oh, nos....grab your shin guards! Nov 14, 2008, 7:49pm (top)Message 139: beckylynnOOOh! The Dark Half. Nov 15, 2008, 5:58pm (top)Message 140: ealaindraoiNo, not The Dark Half. I think Jody knows! ;) Nov 16, 2008, 5:38pm (top)Message 141: JodyreadseverythingOkay, the evilness of this seems to have stumped everybody and I will be home tomorrow so I am going to answer. It's Stationary Bike from Just After Sunset and I just bought it the day I read the quote on LT, then reached the story in the book about an hour later so it was fresh in my mind. Nov 16, 2008, 5:55pm (top)Message 142: beegI almost pulled from Stationary bike but figured not enough people had a chance to read it yet. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I was right. Nov 16, 2008, 6:15pm (top)Message 143: ealaindraoiAh, but Stationary Bike was in a collection that was released a few years ago. It is in Just After Sunset also, but it's been available for a while. (sheepishly) It WAS evil to post it, I know. (/sheepish) But Jody got it, so your turn, Jody. (When ARE stories from Just After Sunset fair game?) Nov 16, 2008, 9:49pm (top)Message 144: beckylynnI've got my copy and it's been on the rack for almost a week.....so I'm pretty sure it's usable. Also, there are some of you guys who need a little 'freshness' in the game, some of you blow my mind how fast you can guess a quote. Okay that's my two cents. Nov 17, 2008, 10:39am (top)Message 145: JodyreadseverythingHere's my quote: She laughed long and hard and loud. It was genuine laughter, and there was nothing mean about it, but it made ________ feel accutely uncomfortable all the same. She laughed until tears streamed down her face. He felt himself stiffening. "I'm sorry." she said, seeing his expression. "It's just that I can't believe I'm hearing this from you, of all people." Nov 17, 2008, 12:24pm (top)Message 146: Madcow299I'm guessing Misery that sounds like the main female character Nov 17, 2008, 1:09pm (top)Message 147: BookslothAnd I'm guessing definitely not Misery (did I win?). It sounds to me like one of those wife/girlfriend characters that make me think he based it on Tabitha - though maybe in a bad patch. How about Pet Sematary? Nov 17, 2008, 1:12pm (top)Message 148: JodyreadseverythingWell, Booksloth is right, it isn't Misery, but it isn't Pet Sematary either. Nov 17, 2008, 1:18pm (top)Message 149: BookslothSo I won! I did win, didn't I? Or are you telling me guesses about what it isn't don't count? Nov 17, 2008, 1:51pm (top)Message 150: Madcow299Maybe not, but I'm impressed with the psychoanalysis :). Nov 17, 2008, 3:11pm (top)Message 151: jseger9000That quote sure is familiar. I'm guessing The Stand, though I couldn't say who it was or why... Nov 17, 2008, 3:27pm (top)Message 152: JodyreadseverythingNo, it isn't The Stand either. Booksloth you definately won the guessing which book it isn't part of the game. Nov 17, 2008, 5:42pm (top)Message 153: ealaindraoiOoooh, I wanta play that way too!! I guess it ISN'T Carrie! I guess it might be Duma Key. Because Edgar and his ex-wife had that kind of relationship. (I did think The Stand was a good guess, because the laughing part sounded like Fran (who should never ever never be played by Molly Ringwald.) Nov 17, 2008, 6:34pm (top)Message 154: JodyreadseverythingYou are right, it isn't Carrie. And you are wrong, it isn't Duma Key. And you are right, Molly Ringwald was not the Fran I imagined either. Nov 18, 2008, 6:12pm (top)Message 155: ealaindraoiHey, two rights and a wrong. (I think there's a proverb in there somewhere....) Here's a WAG, Bag of Bones. Nov 18, 2008, 6:16pm (top)Message 156: beckylynnFor some strange reason I'm thinking It... Nov 18, 2008, 7:52pm (top)Message 157: JodyreadseverythingNot Bag of Bones or IT, sorry. Nov 19, 2008, 7:23am (top)Message 158: TheBentleyI'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say Insomnia, mostly because I don't think these people are married--at least not to each other. At best, he's talking to his ex-wife. Nov 19, 2008, 11:10am (top)Message 159: angelikatOh, could it be Lunch at the Gotham Café from Everything's Eventual?? Nov 19, 2008, 12:13pm (top)Message 160: JodyreadseverythingNov 19, 2008, 12:57pm (top)Message 161: beckylynnWAG Dark Half Nov 19, 2008, 4:15pm (top)Message 162: Jodyreadseverythingnope. Nov 19, 2008, 4:40pm (top)Message 163: SwinnyFor some reason, I'm thinking Thinner, so I'll go with that. Nov 19, 2008, 4:44pm (top)Message 164: JodyreadseverythingNot Thinner either, sorry. Nov 19, 2008, 8:26pm (top)Message 165: angelikatI am going to have to fall back on my favorite guess and say 'Salems Lot - but I won't guess that it is one of the Dark Tower books. Nov 19, 2008, 9:52pm (top)Message 166: SwinnyHm... how about The Dead Zone? Nov 19, 2008, 11:41pm (top)Message 167: jseger9000Nov 20, 2008, 5:10am (top)Message 168: JodyreadseverythingIt is Tommyknockers so well done jseger. It's when Gard has discovered Bobbie's spaceship and new abilities and wants her to call in the govenment and she is laughing that he of all people would suggest that, since he is usually so against them. Nov 20, 2008, 8:45am (top)Message 169: jseger9000It came to me last night! I couldn't remember the characters names though. I figured it was the lady that owned the land talking to the drunk, but couldn't remember the situation. I'll post a quote when I get home from work. Nov 20, 2008, 6:30pm (top)Message 170: jseger9000Here's my quote: They waltz to the tune of "I Got Dem Ol' Kozmic E-Vap Blues Again." Nov 20, 2008, 8:40pm (top)Message 171: beegguess it's from the book you're reading now ;) Nov 20, 2008, 9:01pm (top)Message 172: BookslothI don't think it is. It's been ages since I last read SL and I'm sure I've seen that quote a lot more recently. It's going to be a wild guess as usual - maybe one of my faves, Hearts in Atlantis? Nov 20, 2008, 10:19pm (top)Message 173: beegooh, wanna make a bet? Nov 20, 2008, 10:22pm (top)Message 174: BookslothNo way! Don't think I've beaten you yet! Nov 20, 2008, 10:44pm (top)Message 175: beegLOL, that's too bad I was gonna make you pick the next two quotes. Nov 21, 2008, 12:46am (top)Message 176: pinkcbpoetIsnt that the Stand? Nov 21, 2008, 8:37am (top)Message 177: TheBentleyCell? Nov 21, 2008, 9:32am (top)Message 178: jseger9000Sorry. It's 'Salem's Lot, when Father Callahan is drinking and looking out his window. I should have saved a quote from such an obvious source, but what are you gonna do? So beeg, was that a guess or did you know it? Message edited by its author, Nov 21, 2008, 9:32am. Nov 21, 2008, 9:36am (top)Message 179: BookslothBeeg has the entire works of Mr King imprinted on the inside of his/her eyelids. I call it an unfair advantage myself but I guess that might be 'cos I'm a sore loser. Nov 21, 2008, 10:00am (top)Message 180: jseger9000Her memory is so photographic her brain has Polaroid printed on it. Okay beeg! Your turn for a quote! Nov 21, 2008, 10:52am (top)Message 181: beegno see, I didn't officially guess it out loud. I think Booksloth should chose for being a sore loser. Nov 21, 2008, 11:05am (top)Message 182: BookslothI couldn't do that Beeg - I'd have bothing to grumble about! Nov 24, 2008, 11:26pm (top)Message 187: beegealaindraori won dunno what happened after that. why don't you pick one in the mean time. Nov 25, 2008, 8:25am (top)Message 188: jseger9000If there's none when I get home, I'll dig one up. Nov 27, 2008, 11:00am (top)Message 189: beckylynnOkay I'm dying here. Hope no one minds that I'm taking the plunge. "Plus, dreams don't have to be logical, do they? Dreams are poems from the subconscious." Good luck hope I'm not making anyone mad. Nov 27, 2008, 11:19am (top)Message 190: ealaindraoiI'm so sorry! I forgot it was me and I got busy with Turkey Day stuff! It's cool, let's go with beckylynn's. (thank you!) I'll guess Bag of Bones - lots of weird dreams in that. Nov 27, 2008, 11:48am (top)Message 191: BookslothI'll go for Pet Sematary though I don't really know why. Nov 27, 2008, 12:04pm (top)Message 192: JodyreadseverythingThinner? I think the guy in that had dreams but I am also not sure why, it's been a long time since I read it. Nov 27, 2008, 2:36pm (top)Message 193: beckylynnNope, sorry guys none of the above. Yeah, I was having withdraws glad to see I'm not the only one! Happy Turkey Day Nov 27, 2008, 3:02pm (top)Message 194: BookslothIs it today? Happy Thanksgiving all our American friends - I hope you're being duly thankful for LT ;-) Nov 27, 2008, 4:49pm (top)Message 195: ealaindraoi(adding LT and Bookmooch to list of things thankful for....!) Thank you UK friends for your well-wishing, without you we wouldn't have a Thanksgiving! ;) Lisey's Story? Nov 27, 2008, 4:57pm (top)Message 196: beegbad becky! :) Pretty passage, I'll give ya'll a hint - it's not from a King book. Nov 27, 2008, 10:31pm (top)Message 197: jseger9000If beeg is right (and let's face it, she is) and it isn't from a King book... I'll guess Storm of the Century? I doubt it. It doesn't sound like it comes from there. But it wasn't a King book and dreams played an important part (or I'm remembering wrong). Sorry I didn't post like promised. Turkey Day sort of eats up everything else. Nov 28, 2008, 7:42am (top)Message 198: Booksloth#197 Don't worry, you weren't the only one - LT was like the grave yesterday. I hope you all had a great time and are suffering for it today #195 Nice of you to say so and thanks for the thanks but I don't think it was actually anyone on LT :) Nov 28, 2008, 9:47am (top)Message 199: TheBentleyThe Diary of Ellen Rimbauer? That's the only thing I can think of that would fit the hint unless it's an introduction to something... Nov 28, 2008, 12:22pm (top)Message 200: beegRidley Pearson wrote The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer under the pseudonyms of Joyce Reardon. (in case you wanted to know) Nov 28, 2008, 12:34pm (top)Message 201: Madcow299WAG Gray Matter Nov 28, 2008, 12:48pm (top)Message 202: Booksloth'kay, I may not be very bright but at least I'm willing to admit it. Do you mean by that 'not a SK book' that it's in an anthology? I was already confused; it's not fair to mess with my poor little brain even more, Nov 28, 2008, 1:53pm (top)Message 203: beegI'm sorry. Pay no attention to me. It seems I have too much time on my hands. Nov 28, 2008, 7:58pm (top)Message 204: beckylynnI'm there with ya Booksloth, I'm a little confused to. The quote is defintley from a Stephen King Book...and no one has guessed it yet. Nov 28, 2008, 9:04pm (top)Message 205: beegyeah ok, see I have it from a book of short stories, and later realized it's from his new book I don't have yet. so there I'm guessing it without really saying it outloud Nov 29, 2008, 2:02pm (top)Message 206: beckylynnSo do I give it to you without saying the title? Nov 29, 2008, 2:12pm (top)Message 207: beegLOL, yeah, see my dilemma. Nov 29, 2008, 4:12pm (top)Message 208: BookslothI went out. When I came back this seemed to have turned into a game where we all guess what it is but don't tell anyone. Just for the record, I know it too. Is it my go now? Nov 29, 2008, 4:30pm (top)Message 209: ealaindraoiYeah, I know it now too. I see beeg's dilemma - she gets ALL the quotes but doesn't want to guess because she doesn't want to have to put up a quote. Maybe we should all provide you with 2 or 3 quotes and then when you win you can just put up one of them? ;) Nov 29, 2008, 4:34pm (top)Message 210: beegLOL I was trying to explain my earlier post that confused you. See what happens. Ok the story is called "Harvey’s Dream" it's in The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror Seventeenth Annual Collection. Only later I figured it's been re-released in Just after Sunset. Sorry for the confusion and my not so helpful hints. go ahead Booksloth, it's your go. Nov 29, 2008, 4:59pm (top)Message 211: BookslothNice offer but you don't get out of it that easily. I'm one of the few people in the world who hasn't yet got Sunset and I didn't have the slightest idea what it was. Hoist by your own petard Beeg - your go! Nov 29, 2008, 5:30pm (top)Message 212: beegI don't have Sunset either, it's on the list of course, but not up there as I already have most of the stories in other books. here's a quote: She looked up at him, her eyes wide and wild. "Misunderstanding?" She indicate the dried bib of blood on the front of her dress "does this look like a misunderstanding?" Nov 29, 2008, 5:52pm (top)Message 213: beckylynnokay, so I guess it doesn't matter if I confirm it or not then... Nov 29, 2008, 6:35pm (top)Message 214: beegwas I wrong? Nov 29, 2008, 9:34pm (top)Message 215: klarsenmdI know this quote. It's right on the tip of my tongue, and yet my brain WILL NOT retrieve it. AARRGGG! Dec 1, 2008, 5:03pm (top)Message 216: klarsenmdWell beeg, have you stumped us all or did I miss something? My guess, although I know I should know this, is Cell. Dec 1, 2008, 5:40pm (top)Message 217: beegand you're right. guess it fell off the tip of your tongue - good thing you were wearing a bib. Wow! Really? I haven't gotten one in a really long time. I'm surprised there weren't more guesses, but I'll attribute that to too much turkey and just be happy. I'm at work now and will try to find a stumper when I get home tonight!
