Some fun dragon ones are the Aisling Grey series by Katie MacAlister. :)

I've never read Kelley Armstrong, but she's on my list, too! :)

Jan 6, 2009, 9:55am (top)Message 4: Ceridwen83

I really like her books and the world she has created. I actually started her series on book 3 Dime Store magic and after reading Bitten I'm glad I did. The book was good but it focuses only on the Weres since she had meant it to be a standalone novel.

Jan 8, 2009, 10:20am (top)Message 5: Ceridwen83

3 down 78 more to go. I'm having a little trouble with finding books for my demon and ghost categories any suggestions?

Jan 8, 2009, 1:08pm (top)Message 6: anjaleblanc

Hey for your Demon category, check out Jenna Black's Morgan Kingsley, Exorcist books. There's 3 so far, with a 4th coming out this year. I really enjoyed them and they play in Philly, my home city.

Jan 8, 2009, 4:22pm (top)Message 7: Ceridwen83

Thanks for the suggestion! The book store by my house has book one in stock so I'll pick it up :)

Jan 9, 2009, 3:46pm (top)Message 8: jjones360

Jaci Burton's Demon Hunter's would fit in your demon catagory. The first book is Surviving Demon Island. Also Jacquelyn Frank's Nightwalker series. The first book is Jacob

Lynn Kurland wrote some books that feature ghosts. A couple I can think of are Much Ado in the Moonlight and My Heart Stood Still. And Dark Needs at Night's Edge by Kresley Cole features a ghost as the heroine.

Woohoo one more down. Thanks jjones for the suggestions!

Jan 18, 2009, 3:16pm (top)Message 10: Ceridwen83

Finished The Accidental Demon Slayer I thought it was funny and face paced. Good for a lighter read.

Jan 19, 2009, 9:30am (top)Message 11: Ceridwen83

What's a Ghoul to Do? was far from a favorite but I wont write the series off just yet.

Jan 21, 2009, 10:39am (top)Message 12: Ceridwen83

Added some titles to my list. I'm getting a lot closer to nine on some. Later today I plan to add my Wizard and Elf list up there.

Jan 21, 2009, 10:43am (top)Message 13: Jenson_AKA_DL

What Do You Say to a Naked Elf? is a very cute read I'd highly recommend if you're interested. It is one I plan to re-read for my other 999 Challenge.

Jan 21, 2009, 12:05pm (top)Message 14: Ceridwen83

Thank you for the suggestion! From the description and the reviews I read it looks like it will be quite good. I'll have to see if my local B&N has it when I am there later today. I still have Christmas gift cards burning a hole in my pocket :)

Jan 24, 2009, 7:16pm (top)Message 15: amysnortts

I was going to do a demon category, but I didn't have any books to start with! I loved Patricia Briggs's werewolf series (the first was Moon Called). I'm also trying Meg Cabot's The Mediator series as everyone seems to love them. So far there are 6 of those, which combined with some books by Charlaine Harris that I want to try out has my ghost section covered. I like some of the suggestions you were given, so I'll keep checking your post to see what else you come up with!

(edited message since I initially put Patricia Briggs as the author for a series that was done by Charlaine Harris. Yikes, I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing!)

Yeah my Demon category was giving me a little trouble at first but people have been very helpful with the suggestions. I'm glad to see you enjoyed Patricia's series I haven't started them yet. I loved the Mediator series I read them last year.

Jan 26, 2009, 10:51am (top)Message 17: cflorente

#15 - i like how you NEVER comment in my section! jerk ;)

#16 - There are demons in the Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison (and other things) - the main character is a witch though. Also, the Dante Valentine series by Lilith Saintcrow is all about demons. :) They tend to be more about fighting/violence (which I like). Both have tought smart women as their main characters. :)

Jan 26, 2009, 2:09pm (top)Message 18: Ceridwen83

Thanks for the suggestions cflorente. I have actually read all the Rachel Morgan books out so far. But the next one is due out the end of next month I cant wait :)

Jan 27, 2009, 1:43pm (top)Message 19: Ceridwen83

I just finished Elisha's Bones. It might be a little bit of a stretch for this challenge but I figure bones that bring the dead back to life is definitely not in the realm of normal. Overall an interesting story I just didn't care for the writing style.

Feb 1, 2009, 9:22pm (top)Message 20: Ceridwen83

Finished Cry Wolf and loved it! I actually cried a little at one part.

Feb 2, 2009, 5:59am (top)Message 21: Kat32

Here are a couple recommendations for your ghost and demon catagories. Julie Kenner has a demon series out right now.
It starts with Carpe Demon and I think there are 3 or 4 more in that series. Next Victoria Laurie has an awesome paranormal mystery series that involves ghosts the 1st book is What's a Ghoul to Do?. There are currently only 2 books in this series but a 3rd is coming out later this year. I hope this was helpful and enjoy the books if you decided to try them out. Happy Reading!

Just finished Moon Called it was great. You can check out the review I posted on my blog.

Feb 6, 2009, 4:04pm (top)Message 23: Ceridwen83

Updated my list a little. I'm actually getting a little burnt out on the paranormal so I took a break and read Gamer Girl last night.

Feb 7, 2009, 7:29pm (top)Message 24: Ceridwen83

just finished Dreams Made Flesh nice addition to the black jewels books.

Feb 9, 2009, 5:25pm (top)Message 25: Ceridwen83

finished Tantalize and i have to say i was not a big fan :(

Feb 10, 2009, 7:20pm (top)Message 26: cflorente

Gamer Girl sounds like a fun book - what is it about? :)

What are the Black Jewels books?

Feb 11, 2009, 9:38am (top)Message 27: Ceridwen83

The Black Jewels was originally a trilogy but the seventh book is about to or has just come out :P It starts with Daughter of the Blood Its very dark fantasy and not for the faint of heart, lost of violence related to sex and otherwise. The world is really complex by book two you should have the hang of it tho. I really do recommend it. The prequel is a bit of an easier read The invisible Ring
Gamer Girl was cute, its about a girl whos parents recently got divorced and she has to move to a new school. She gets into this online game and also writes her own manga for a competition all while dealing with bullies and love.

Feb 11, 2009, 11:36am (top)Message 28: Kat32

I Loved the Black Jewel it was easily my favorite Fantasy series of all time. You should definately check them out cflorente!

Feb 11, 2009, 11:59am (top)Message 29: cflorente

Thanks Kat32 :)

Both of those (the black jewel series and the gamer girl book) sound great! what category would black jewel fall under? exciting!

Feb 11, 2009, 12:26pm (top)Message 30: Ceridwen83

I would say to use them as the witch category. That's what I did with Dreams Made Flesh since the Blood are "Craft" users.

Feb 11, 2009, 1:13pm (top)Message 31: Kat32

I agree they could go under witches.

Feb 12, 2009, 11:15am (top)Message 32: Ceridwen83

I read Wake last night. It was very interesting and I totally recommend it.

Feb 13, 2009, 9:07am (top)Message 33: Ceridwen83

Fade was even better than Wake I loved it.

Feb 18, 2009, 3:23pm (top)Message 34: Ceridwen83

I cant believe I'm already 15 books in. I just finished Evermore it was very good.

Feb 18, 2009, 4:46pm (top)Message 35: Kat32

Ha that's so funny I just finished Evermore too! I loved it, I thought it was a very interesting spin on how the immortals came to be. I can't wait for the next one in the series!

Feb 18, 2009, 6:12pm (top)Message 36: cflorente

I'm so excited! I can't wait to get Fade! I should just order it from Border's... :)

Jun 8, 2009, 10:09am (top)Message 37: Ceridwen83

Had to take a hiatus from books because of work but I think I am back now and making good progress with 2 more books down this weekend :)

Jun 10, 2009, 10:23am (top)Message 38: Ceridwen83

One more down, and I only have to finish 2 book to have my Werewolf category done :)

Jun 13, 2009, 7:36pm (top)Message 39: Ceridwen83

loving the Dresden books!

Jun 27, 2009, 10:50am (top)Message 40: Ceridwen83

Werewolf category is done! I closed it out last night with Bone Crossed not my favorite of the Mercy Thompson series but I still enjoyed it.

Jun 29, 2009, 10:36am (top)Message 41: cflorente

That's how I felt about Bone Crossed!

Jul 15, 2009, 1:45pm (top)Message 42: Ceridwen83

I'm glad I decided to read Living Dead in Dallas I hated the first book in the series but this one was much better and kept me interested.

Jul 15, 2009, 2:08pm (top)Message 43: Jenson_AKA_DL

You're much more open minded than I am! Usually if I hate a book I'm not likely to read another by that same author, nonetheless another one of the same series.

Jul 15, 2009, 3:26pm (top)Message 44: amysnortts

I started the Sookie series by reading the third one and I'm glad I did! I've read all but the most recent release (don't buy hardback because I'm too cheap!) a couple of times. My book club decided to do the first in the series for this next month. I tried warning them that the first one wasn't that good, the second was okay, but starting with the third book, they really pick up! I'm glad that you decided to give the series another shot by going to the next book. Hopefully you end up loving the series!

Jul 16, 2009, 3:59am (top)Message 45: viciouslittlething

I may have to try it again then as I ddin't really like dead until dark either, I have read a few of the shorts that have come up in the anthologies. Maybe it's worth the effort to try again.

Jul 17, 2009, 11:20am (top)Message 46: cflorente

Ames - i tried warning them, too! lol.

About 2 years ago I just happened to see the sookie books on sale - buy one get one free. So I bought the first FOUR books. I'm glad I did because the character development got better (and so did the plot).

Jul 18, 2009, 9:35pm (top)Message 47: BookLizard

One to add to your dragon list is Destiny Kills by Keri Arthur.

Jul 20, 2009, 5:23am (top)Message 48: viciouslittlething

Have you tried Jennifer Scales books by MaryJanice Davidson? I have not yet read them, but they are about a half were dragon. Could be good for your dragon category.

Sep 3, 2009, 1:39pm (top)Message 49: Ceridwen83

2 more down. I feel so behind on this.

Sep 4, 2009, 12:16am (top)Message 50: BookLizard

That's what long weekends are made for -- catching up on your reading.

Sep 4, 2009, 9:14am (top)Message 51: Ceridwen83

lol too true. I got one more knocked out last night.

Sep 8, 2009, 5:17pm (top)Message 52: Ceridwen83

Woo Vampires are complete!

Sep 18, 2009, 5:35pm (top)Message 53: Ceridwen83

one more and i'll have wizards done! slowly but surely making up for lost time.
