Thanks JPB. It is great to be thinking, planning, and anticipating some meet-ups come spring and summer. I am ready for come spring or summer, right now.

Here's a thread where some folks are organizing a group meet at this year's DragonCon...

I really should have started this thread as "GreenDragon" :

...as it will eventually get more difficult to compute distances from Turkey Hills.

Not sure if it counts as a GD get-together, but Taliska and I (as far as I know, the ENTIRE South African contingent in the pub) managed lunch together twice in the past week. If any members of her Institute are unaware of that fact, they must be either brain-dead or stone deaf; much hilarity was generated. Sorry no bookshops; we both felt skint, and this is Pretoria we're talking about!

Not exactly a regular meet-up as such, but I had lunch with Barry today :-)

And that's almost a meet, as we're from different countries, right?!

...and the proof

thanks for the lunch and the bookshopping tips. I did at least get the Lonely Planet Sweden afterwards

Nice photo! Where are you two? Is that a bookstore? It's huge.

Apr 1, 2009, 12:16pm (top)Message 17: Barry

Sadly not, a shopping centre :-(

But there was a (small) bookstore and a library too (at least I think it was a library).

You have experienced one of my ambitions, Barry. To travel to Europe and meet Pella and some of our other European LTs. Maybe another year. Great picture.

Any chance of SF/Bay Area ~~~ mid-CA or whatever we are? Someone earlier had mentioned San Francisco or Berkeley.

Taliska and I managed a second GD get-together of now only 2/3 of the South African contingent in her lab last month. Here's the proof:

ETA: L to R: me, Taliska (should be obvious!)

>15 "ET shrink us a bit"

Wow, can you do that? Is it really that easy? Someone needs to post this info on the diet commiseration thread!

In the GD anything is possible, RL is slightly trickier ;-(
