This is likely to be a really hard question! Even i'm having a hard time and i'm the one that thought up the question!

I would have to say that right now my Favorite character that I have recently read would have to be Edward Cullen from Twilight, he just has this presence that jumps right off the page and into your heart!

And for Female Characters I would have to say either Anita Blake or Mercy Thompson both of them are kickass women who know how to handle themselves and their not afraid to get down and dirty when they need to!

I agree with Mercy Thompson she is a character that can actually hold her own. I don't know if she is my favorite though this is a hard one.

I think for male characters my favorite would have to be Lestat once you get to The Vampire Lestat and he is narrating his life. He becomes a total different person than he is portrayed in Interview.

There are so many! I'll force myself just to stick to a few.

I really enjoyed both Suz and Jesse from The Mediator series by Meg Cabot.

I also love Wren from Kenyon's Unleash the Night and Nick from the Dark Hunter books in general.

Mercy is indeed a great female lead, again not sure she is my favourite, but definatley in the top 10. Anita is in my top 10 too, but only up to OB, she really got on my nerves in the ones after then. I really love so many charachters that I couldn't pick an absoloute overall favourite. My Childrens/YA/Teen one is Angharad in the Blue Sword, I love that book so much. It also depends on my mood, and they have so many traits...

I adore Nick in the Dark Hunter books, I was saddened when reading the end of Acheron and going to start on One Silent Night next, I know Nick plays a role in that one too.

I agree I thought that OB was the very best Anita book in the whole series. The series has started to go down hill for me now....to bad :(

I also like nicks character from the few dark-hunter books that I have read, he's a really good pick!

>4 I haven't read Acheron yet although it is taking up a huge space on my TBR shelf LOL! I plan to get to it soon. I think I like Nick because we've seen so much development in his character. He's gone from good guy to semi-bad guy and you usually see things play out the other way around. I'm hoping he gets a bit of redemption at some point.

I love Queen Betsy from MaryJanice Davidson's Undead and Un... series. She is so ridiculous, I adore her.

#7 - and her toenails! LOL

Is it weird that I sometimes worry if I were to become a vampire the way I look now, I'd be really pissed off? Maybe I'm reading too many of these books...

Feb 18, 2009, 4:55pm (top)Message 10: Kat32

Feb 19, 2009, 5:05am (top)Message 14: viciouslittlething

#13 there is a series out there about an overweight female vampire, I can't remember the name of it or the author....

Feb 19, 2009, 5:42am (top)Message 15: Kat32

Ha I'm reading that book right now it's Called Real Vampires Have Curves it's really cute and funny how she isn't satisfied with her image but makes due with what she's got.

#3 .. I forgot about the Mediator Series! Gah!!! That was such a fantastic read. I guess that is what happens when you overload your brain with books LOL ....and #15, I love Gerry Bartlett and her vampire series!!! It's so hard picking favorite characters...but that's why this is such a good question. I love Darius from Gena Showalter 's Jewel of Atlantis or wait, that would be Heart of the Dragon . He is absolutely delicious. I also love Saphira from Christopher Paolini 's Inheritance series. Which by the way, I'm so glad there's going to be a fourth book. I also love Clayton from Kelley Armstrong 's Women of the Otherworld series and soon Clayton's story will have it's own book in the Men of the Otherworld! Hoorah for that!! I agree that Queen Betsy is such a fun and quirky character.....I love her BFF Jessica!! Also agree on the Mercedes Thompson...I love her character so much I've even considered it as a tattoo..I just love everything she represents! And who doesn't love Gandalf from Harry Potter? Oh! Valek from Maria V. Snyder 's trilogy.......and of course many more, but I better stop here because I think we were only supposed to name a character or two, let alone as many as I have! LOL

This is SO off topic, but I love Dean on Supernatural (the tv show). Jensen Ackles I believe. Crazy tv show character crush. :)

I also crush on Doyle in the Merry Gentry series by LKH. Whew.

Mar 20, 2009, 5:44am (top)Message 19: Kat32

Mar 20, 2009, 5:43pm (top)Message 20: cflorente

Mar 20, 2009, 9:08pm (top)Message 21: Kat32

I'll give LKH credit she sure can write some sexy characters, some of the HOTTEST out there I say.....lol ;). You could almost use a cold shower after reading one of her books!!

My favorite paranormal character has to be Ghost from Poppy Z. Brite's Lost Souls and featured in a few short stories. He isn't paranormal in the sense of being a vampire or anything, but somewhat of a mystic and all around engaging.

(just joined this group, so hope you don't mind me jumping in)

No, feel free to jump in on any topic you like. I think we can all agree that we all like to hear other peoples points of view. Welcome to the group!

Ok, after reading all the messages....
Anita, Mercedes, Queen Bitsy, Merry Gentry, Doyle.
Great question!

>22 Lost Souls horrified me but it was really well written and I also really liked Ghost's character (I think I mentioned it in the review I wrote). That's one of the few books where certain scenes still come back to haunt me. I'm not sure I could read another book by her!

>18 & 19 Yes! Jensen Ackles is very easy on the eyes! I loved him in Dark Angel as well.

Apr 7, 2009, 12:14pm (top)Message 26: cflorente

>25 He was in Dark Angel? I'm gonna have to watch that... ;)

I'll have to try out Lost Souls :)

Apr 10, 2009, 9:21am (top)Message 27: Jenson_AKA_DL

He comes in at the beginning of the second season. He has the same wise-ass personality type in Dark Angel that he does in Supernatural. He does it so well :-)

Apr 16, 2009, 8:46am (top)Message 28: narcissus_in_theory

*is a fellow Jensen Ackles fangirl* Love that boy. Jared Padalecki isn't exactly harsh on the eyes either ... who wants to bet the majority of the Supernatural audience is female?

As to the favourite character question, I really love Con from Robin McKinley's Sunshine. I'm not actually that sure why, probably because he looks a lot like David Boreanez in my imagination, which is wrong as he's meant to be the ugly guy in that scenario, but whatever.

And I'm half in love with most of Sherrilyn Kenyon's main male characters - Kyrian from Night Pleasures, Acheron, Vane from Night Play ... I could go on. And Jenine you've probably read me going on about this so much on loads of different threads, lol :P

Apr 24, 2009, 10:52am (top)Message 29: Ricechex

*dances happily that other people are Jensen fans* That man is dreamy. And Dean as a character is just darn sexy.

Hmmm... Le'ssee.... When it comes to an absolute, can't get enough, must have it all favorite character, I would probably have to say Harry Potter. I can admit it. I love the books, I like the movies almost as much, and I can read the books time and time again without ever getting bored.

Apr 24, 2009, 3:25pm (top)Message 30: narcissus_in_theory

Dean is an amazing character all around, but I have to admit that Sammy is my favourite. I think it's the angst and the puppy dog eyes and the whol 8 feet tall thing, I just, gah, he is too yummy for words. *looks back at sentence* Why yes, I did just use the word yummy in reference to a fictional character ...

Me and my friend love Harry to pieces and have incredibly in-depth conversations about the series, probably analysing it more than JKR ever intended anyone too. My friend even writes fanfiction for it (she's good).
