I have started One of Ours - just starting to get engrossed in it - and am wondering if anyone else is reading it. 3auntmarge64Just finished it. A beautiful story. The first in many years (since, in fact, The Color Purple) which seemed to me to have a perfect story arc. 4guppyfpI finally finished it. It left me thinking. As I was reading through it, I sometimes felt that Cather was romanticizing the nobility of war and the American soldiers (this in spite of her blandly describing little girls shot through the head!) - but the final pages make it clear that it is not the author, but the protaganist who romanticizes it, because it is his ticket to freedom. 5socialpagesSounds like an excellent read. I wasn't aware of that title but I'm going to search my local library for it. | AboutThis topic is not marked as primarily about any work, author or other topic. Touchstones |
