So what kind of magitech novels, movies or anime do you have in your collection?

Off the top of my head I have all the Final Fantasy games and several of the FF anime. I've seen a couple episodes of Full Metal Alchemist but it isn't anywhere near the top of my favorites list.

I have a Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting I created that is heavily influenced by magical technology powered by crystals that tap the elemantal planes.

Monday Starts on Saturday by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky! Every Russian science fiction fan will know this book, and even some who aren't, and you'll get much the same results in other former Warsaw Pact countries... but it's very obscure in the Anglo-Saxon literary world, even though - as far as I know - there are multiple English translations of it in existence. (I can't speak for their quality - I read the novel in Hungarian.) I think I've even seen an English etext around.

It's about a Magic and Witchcraft Research Institute, and all its weird goings-on. It's absolutely hilarious, but I've been told that for the desired effect you have to have worked in a research institute of some sort in the Eastern Bloc...well I've just started doing so last year, but I can tell you things apparently haven't changed much since the fall of the Iron Curtain ;)

I'll come up with similarly obscure stuff a bit later IY"H, but it's getting late here...

(also Final Fantasy fan, and I am currently watching FMA...)
