Today's Times has four cryptic crosswords and a couple of articles about crosswords. For details, see here.

One of the puzzles is the first qualifier for the Times crossword championship, to be held in Cheltenham during the literature festival in October. I can definitely recommend this as a nice way to meet fellow solvers, even if you don't expect to do very well. A reasonable target would be for you to be able to complete a daily puzzle in half an hour. In the event itself, competitors have an hour to solve three puzzles.
