Not an alien.

2. I appear in a series of four books. I'm not the main character, but I play a significant role.

Aug 5, 2009, 6:21pm (top)Message 418: Tid

Is this the Wizard of Earthsea series? (Can't remember the name ...!)

Aug 5, 2009, 7:53pm (top)Message 419: foggidawn

Nope.

3. I do love a good dish of chocolate mousse or cherries jubilee.

And I love the Enchanted Forest Chronicles!

Severus Snape? Although he didn't exactly risk his life...

Aug 6, 2009, 10:08pm (top)Message 425: foggidawn

#424 -- That was, of course, my first thought. :-) Actually, I can think of several characters that almost, but not quite, fit the bill: Jean Valjean? Aslan? Hmmm . . . I will think more on it. Maybe it's time for another clue?

No to both

Can't wait PPC - hope you win soon :-)

Aug 13, 2009, 12:47pm (top)Message 445: suge

Hey can you tell me, so that I can use it, PPC? Gah! Give me a minute to think of one....

Ok, Ok, I have one:

  • Clue One: I am in a cool band.... well, my only friend and I "jam" together....
  • Aug 13, 2009, 4:31pm (top)Message 446: Powerpuffchic

i know this one and I can't think of it....

    Aug 14, 2009, 9:50am (top)Message 447: suge

Girls hate me on sight.... and boys too. In fact, I have to pretend to be semi Columbine crazy just to stop the bullies. So I don an Army jacket and walk around like I'm going to shoot up the school.

    Aug 14, 2009, 11:37am (top)Message 448: jugglingpaynes

    suge? :o)

    Aug 14, 2009, 4:06pm (top)Message 449: suge

Ha ha ha JP ha ha ha :P~~~~~

    Anyhoo...

... Wait, I have to say this: PEOPLE LOVE ME!!!!

No, they don't. Even you guys run off when you see me posting. JP is right. I suck. *sob*

    That being said:

  • Clue One: I am in a cool band.... well, my only friend and I "jam" together....

  • Clue Two: Girls hate me on sight.... and boys too. In fact, I have to pretend to be semi Columbine crazy just to stop the bullies. So I don an Army jacket and walk around like I'm going to shoot up the school.

  • Clue Three: I get called a REALLY horrible nickname at school after taking an aptitude test. A name which I recklessly embrace in a moment of rebellion.
  • Aug 14, 2009, 6:21pm (top)Message 450: jugglingpaynes

I will not remind suge how long my family and lefty waited for her in Central Park last week just because we wanted to see her.

Is the nickname the title of your book, by any chance?

    Aug 15, 2009, 10:33pm (top)Message 451: suge

omg I can't believe you brought that up, JP!! That's a low blow! I feel really guilty about that but I told you I almost died that day, so all things considered....

    any hoo....

  • Clue Three: My school is full of anoying teachers who for some reason are obsessed with Holden Cauldfield.
  • Aug 16, 2009, 7:11pm (top)Message 452: jugglingpaynes

LOL! True. Your excuse was a good one!

BTW, I think that was your fourth clue. Still no idea and you didn't answer my question. :oP

    Aug 17, 2009, 9:13am (top)Message 453: suge

Oh, you're right, JP. But I think I was pretty coherent, considering.

•Clue One: I am in a cool band.... well, my only friend and I "jam" together....

•Clue Two: Girls hate me on sight.... and boys too. In fact, I have to pretend to be semi Columbine crazy just to stop the bullies. So I don an Army jacket and walk around like I'm going to shoot up the school.

•Clue Three: I get called a REALLY horrible nickname at school after taking an aptitude test. A name which I recklessly embrace in a moment of rebellion.

•Clue Three Four: My school is full of anoying teachers who for some reason are obsessed with Holden Cauldfield.

  • Clue Five: More than play actual music, my "band" and I come up with hilarious band names complete with logos and cover art. We even have song names.... all we need are the lyrics.... and a drummer.
  • Aug 17, 2009, 4:30pm (top)Message 454: suge

HA HA HA Does this mean I WIN??!!

I am the master of the UNIVERSE HA HA HA HA! All must bow down to me. I am invincible. I am....

... or is it that my clues SUCK? Oh no...

    Aug 17, 2009, 5:03pm (top)Message 455: picolina

Don't worry sugey, I'm sure someone here must've read the book, just be patient, I'm sure someone will come up with the answer. *wonders who would listen to a band who didn't have a drummer and didn't have lyrics to their songs.....*

    Aug 17, 2009, 7:16pm (top)Message 456: jugglingpaynes

It does sound like an interesting story. I never read anything like that plot.

    Aug 18, 2009, 12:51pm (top)Message 457: suge

Pic #455--> They actually put a little something together for their school talent show. They borrow a drummer from another competing band and become something of an sensation.

    Here's clue six:
My father was a cop, who was killed in an "accident" six years ago. I find a box with his old school books. The books are full of coded messages. If I can decode the messages, maybe I can find out the truth about his death.

    Aug 18, 2009, 11:02pm (top)Message 458: picolina

    Oh god that sounds familiar!!!!

    Ok, I'm gonna guess.

Is it Will from The Subtle Knife?

Or........*bangs head on desk* that last clue sounds so familiar!!!!! But I don't think my guess would fit any of the other ones.....

    Aug 19, 2009, 11:11am (top)Message 459: suge

458--> No, not Will. This book is not sci-fi nor fantasy.

Clue One: I am in a cool band.... well, my only friend and I "jam" together....

•Clue Five: More than play actual music, my "band" and I come up with hilarious band names complete with logos and cover art. We even have song names.... all we need are the lyrics.... and a drummer.

  • Clue Six: My father was a cop, who was killed in an "accident" six years ago. I find a box with his old school books. The books are full of coded messages. If I can decode the messages, maybe I can find out the truth about his death.

Clue Seven: The book title claims that I am "royalty", but my social status is not one that you would envy. My mother is an aged hippie who preffers to dissapear in a Vicodin haze. I think that baby boomers, or gen xers are the most anoying generation of people that ever lived. Unfortunately, my step father is one.
  • Aug 19, 2009, 2:52pm (top)Message 460: Ms_Bella

Suge I give up! But I want to read this book now! Can you pm me and tell me what it is?????

    Aug 19, 2009, 3:43pm (top)Message 461: cmbohn

Is it written by a man or a woman?

    Aug 19, 2009, 4:37pm (top)Message 462: Powerpuffchic

lol, I wanna know what it is too!

    Aug 19, 2009, 4:42pm (top)Message 463: suge

It was written by a man. And I hear that they are making a movie out of the book.

umm I think I'm out of clues. I don't want to post anything that might be a spoiler.

I enjoyed King Dork, G. I thought it was really funny. However, I was pretty pissed when Tom started ragging on my band Led Zeppelin. What's wrong with him? Its like that horrible Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Songs of all time list. IN WHAT UNIVERSE IS "SATISFACTION" BY THE ROLLING STONES (a song I love btw) BETTER THAN "STARIWAY TO HEAVEN"? KASHMIR IS #140. most of the songs on the list are some of my favorite songs, but the order in which they are listed makes me want to throw things. Thats why I stay away from lists. grrrr

    Aug 20, 2009, 3:34pm (top)Message 468: Tid

    #467

I agree 100%. EVERYONE knows that "Sympathy For The Devil" is the greatest Stones' track, bar none. We don't need silly lists to tell us that :-)

    Aug 20, 2009, 3:41pm (top)Message 469: cmbohn

My vote is for 'Paint it Black.'

    Aug 20, 2009, 3:50pm (top)Message 470: foggidawn

Whoa . . . I think I just wandered onto the wrong thread.

*wanders off to look for the "Who Am I?" game thread*

    Aug 20, 2009, 6:14pm (top)Message 471: littlegeek

I'm with Tid on this one. Although I have a special fondness for Shattered.

Best Zepplin song? For me it's The Ocean, but pretty much any track by Zep is better than 90% by any other rock bands. (suge now loves me.) Honorable mentions: Immigrant Song, Achillies Last Stand.

    Aug 20, 2009, 6:25pm (top)Message 472: ejj1955

Tea for One. Black Country Woman. Friends. Gallows Pole. Since I've Been Loving You. In the Evening. Whole Lotta Love.

Wait--this isn't the Led Zeppelin fan thread?

    Aug 20, 2009, 6:29pm (top)Message 473: littlegeek

Actually, my favorite Zep song is whichever one is playing.

OK, which is the best record? Houses of the Holy or Physical Grafitti? Or are all you kids too young to have listened to these as entire records? Ah, vinyl, how I miss you....

    Aug 20, 2009, 11:03pm (top)Message 474: gpwts

So it's my turn to name a character?
and it's been a while since I read it. I barely remember it

    Aug 21, 2009, 12:02am (top)Message 475: cmbohn

It can be a character from any book.

    Aug 21, 2009, 3:59am (top)Message 476: MrAndrew

or from any Led Zepplin album.

    Aug 21, 2009, 10:38am (top)Message 477: gpwts

    Thank you...alright

Clue One: I have a very distiguishing birth mark

Clue Two: Both me and my two older brothers have names that are odd. Mine can almost pass as normal but there's definetly can't

    Aug 21, 2009, 11:02am (top)Message 478: suge

469--> I love "Paint It Black" but I have to third Tid and LG's vote for "Sympathy for the Devil".

471--> Oh, god, LG I love "The Ocean". I listen to it just about every morning. Suge loved you before, but now I love and adore you more. Hey! One of my favorite songs is "Achilles Last Stand" John Bonham was an amazing percussionist and the drums on that track are incredible.

472--> The guitars on "Since I've been loving" you are absolutely just.... brilliant. In my opinion Jimmy Page is the greatest guitarist of all time. He's like a wizard with a pick. I love Jimmy Hendrix and Chuck Berry but Jimmy P brings me to tears.

473--> Too true, Lg any Led Zep song will do to make me happy!

HA on you LG! I actually have the "Houses of the Holy" LP (listen to it just about every day when I get dressed for work) and I owned the "Physical Graffiti" CD until my friend stepped on the disc with "Kashimir" on it by accident. Its hard to pick between those two records, LG. Both records are sensational. I guess I would go with "Physical" because it has "Ten Years Gone".

My favorite Led Z song? I'd have to say "Kashmir" because it was the very first Led Zeppelin song I ever heard and I was completely blown away. I also LOVE "Going to California" and GOD "When the Levee Breaks" and "D'yer M'aker" and.... I could go on for ever. Again, any Led Z song that's playing.

476-->He he he Mr. excellent idea! Clue #1 I shine a light

    Aug 21, 2009, 11:10am (top)Message 479: littlegeek

D'yer M'aker & Kashmir are also in my top 10, suge. Don't we both have excellent taste?

No guess on the clues so far for me.

    Aug 21, 2009, 11:16am (top)Message 480: suge

Yes, we are fabulous, LG. (Can you listen to D'yer M'aker with out thinking of Dread Z?)

There was a prickle in my brain when I read the hint, but I need more clues

    Aug 21, 2009, 12:56pm (top)Message 481: ejj1955

D'yer M'aker was the first song I heard, or maybe really listened to. A friend came down to our dorm room and listened to my roommate's LP . . . and that was that. Love passed from my auditory canal to my heart . . . yes, Suge, Jimmy Page is a genius. Bonham was incredible (*small sob*). Can't pick a favorite album.

Sorry, back to the game . . .

    Aug 21, 2009, 3:41pm (top)Message 482: suge

    Aug 21, 2009, 8:39pm (top)Message 484: gpwts

Clue One: I have a very distiguishing birth mark

Clue Two: Both me and my two older brothers have names that are odd. Mine can almost pass as normal but there's definetly can't

Clue Three: I am an artist, though it takes me a long time to realize it. I used to think I just dabbled, but as time passes I realize that art is my passion

Side One (vinyl records had "sides" kids - you had to turn them over!) of Led Zepp II is one of my favourite album sides of all time.

    Aug 22, 2009, 10:58am (top)Message 487: gpwts

This whole Led Zep thing is really quite amusing

    Aug 22, 2009, 12:16pm (top)Message 488: cmbohn

It sounds like it should be familiar, but I am stumped!

    Aug 22, 2009, 3:10pm (top)Message 489: Tid

#488 - it's ok, there is a CD of it. But with only one playable side, so therefore the first 4 tracks would comprise the original Side One.

Oh, you're talking about Who Am I? (LOL)

    Aug 22, 2009, 4:03pm (top)Message 490: ejj1955

    Is it Picasso?

490: No it is no Picasso. Interesing guess though

    Aug 23, 2009, 3:56pm (top)Message 492: ejj1955

    Is it Michelangelo?

Really, I have no idea. I'm just trying to make up for contributing to the Led Zeppelin detour, lovely though it was. *going to sort through my CDs now, see if I have all of the Led Zep albums*

edited to add: in that format, I mean. Have 'em on vinyl up through Coda.

    Aug 23, 2009, 6:55pm (top)Message 495: cmbohn

    Is is Asher Lev?

    Aug 23, 2009, 7:35pm (top)Message 496: ejj1955

    >493 Thanks, Tid, but I don't have an iPod. About the only time I download music is when I'm making CDs for my crazy friend. I'm happy with CDs as my level of technology at the moment, though the day may come . . . my main venue for listening to music is in the car, though, and CDs work for that. (And, er, I'm a Dudette!)

    Aug 24, 2009, 12:26am (top)Message 497: gpwts

Apparently suge isn't the only one who gives crappy clues

Clue One: I have a very distiguishing birth mark

Clue Two: Both me and my two older brothers have names that are odd. Mine can almost pass as normal but there's definetly can't

Clue Three: I am an artist, though it takes me a long time to realize it. I used to think I just dabbled, but as time passes I realize that art is my passion

Clue Four: On my way home from laser surgery, I get into an accident, and nearly kill a boy in a parking lot, who I then become very good friends with

    Aug 24, 2009, 8:23am (top)Message 498: foggidawn

This sounds really interesting, but I'm pretty sure I haven't read it.

    Aug 24, 2009, 10:02am (top)Message 499: ejj1955

    >497

I don't think you or Suge give crappy clues, I just think that there are certain books that the people who are on this thread are less familiar with. I'm sure your clues would be enough for me to identify the character if I had read the book, but I can tell from them that I haven't.

    Aug 24, 2009, 10:43am (top)Message 500: suge

ejj she's just trying to provoke me....

    MORE CLUES! MORE CLUES!

    Aug 24, 2009, 12:04pm (top)Message 501: jugglingpaynes

Hmmm...I'm seeing a pattern here. gpwts comes back, suge comes on more and goes back to regular caps lock posts. I wonder if g is nearsighted and suge is the only one who knows?

No guess on the who am I. I think I would remember a book that mentioned laser surgery...

    Aug 24, 2009, 12:12pm (top)Message 502: suge

Ummmm... what? How could you possible it? We thought we were being subtle. Goes to show.... Ok, g. SHE'S ON TO US!!! They know!!

As far as the clues for some reason I'm thinking Mia from A Mango Shaped Space, but that can't be right? Right?

    Aug 24, 2009, 1:01pm (top)Message 503: jugglingpaynes

I suppose that will depend on whether two rights (right? Right?) make a wrong.

    Aug 24, 2009, 2:44pm (top)Message 504: MrAndrew

I don't know about that, but i'm pretty sure that four rights make 360 degrees.

    Aug 24, 2009, 2:46pm (top)Message 505: foggidawn

    Three rights make a left.

    Aug 24, 2009, 4:05pm (top)Message 506: suge

Five rights and you get a Led Zeppelin record.

btw jp: two wrongs don't make a right, but it makes it even.

">493 Thanks, Tid, but I don't have an iPod. About the only time I download music is when I'm making CDs for my crazy friend. I'm happy with CDs as my level of technology at the moment, though the day may come . . . my main venue for listening to music is in the car, though, and CDs work for that. (And, er, I'm a Dudette!)"

Welcome to Club Dudette ejj !

BTW, you don't need an iPod to use iTunes - I don't and I do (if you follow my logic). You can download music to your computer and play it there, and you can rip all your CDs, and then play them on your computer, and burn 'mix tape' CDs of your favourite home-grown compilations, you can even buy TV shows and movies! Ok ok, I sound like an advert for iTunes, but hey - it's a free download.

First things: No suge, your wrong. You people do need to read this book.
Second thing: I would NEVER provoke suge. My halo is perfectly clean
    *grins*

    Okay another clue...

Clue Five: My father is described, to quote the boy, "well even genius's can be class A a**holes"

Clue Six: My oldest brother lives in China, and in the second part of the book me and my mother go to China to visit him *over my father's stong objections*
