It was a good ARC day! Homer's Odyssey from Random House (Shelf Awareness), Afraid and If Your Kid Eats This Book, Everything Will Still Be Okay from Hachette, and Back Creek from Bancroft Press.
I finally got my hardcover copy of The Walking People by Mary Beth Keane. I thought they changed their minds or that it was lost in the mail. I hope it's good.
Unsolicited Gifts of War from Random House appeared on me doorstep.
I got a nice surprise when I came home from a long trip today... an ARC of Devoured by Amanda Marrone. I wasn't expecting it, but I'm very thankful to have it! Can't wait to get started! ;)
#13--I got sucked into it when all I intended was a cursory glance...it's imaginative and pretty good so far!
16--I keep saying that someone in my local post office is an avid reader. All my books arrive in damaged envelopes. Several times I have received just the envelope, missing the book. And a couple of times books I expected and books I sent out were never delivered. It is very suspicious to me.
Gee, I was only joking, but it looks as though you might have a real situation on your hands. Sounds suspicious to me, too. And it's not as though we have any real alternatives either!
I received The Walking People. Really looking forwarding to reading it.
Would love to know how you got the audio of Losing Mum and Pup. I have heard two different interviews with Chris Buckley and would love to hear the book.
I received my ER snag, The Embers by Hyatt Bass, on friday or saturday. (the envelope was intact this time.) ;)
Received a copy of Rules of Vengeance that is due out in August. Read the first in the series last summer and loved it. This was a cold copy request.
I got two copies of Sacred Hearts - wonder why 2? Oh, well, I guess the extra will show up in Member Giveaways as soon as I can get around to it. Since it's so clearly marked ARC, I can't unfortunately, donate it to our tiny town library.
I received Sacred Hearts today. This is from the LT bonus batch since the enclosed letter mentioned Library Thing.
I've received two in June so far:
The Spiders of Allah
Gifts of War (sounds like several people received this one?)
I got Sacred Hearts this morning. I don't remember requesting it, but found my note that shows I did (thank God I've started keeping better records!).
UPS man just dropped off Night Gardener--he seemed disappointed that I "only got one today". LOL
UPS dropped off Sacred Hearts for me as well. My letter mentioned Shelf Awareness.
I am really new to this. Could you tell me how to get the Advanced Reader's Copies? I have tried everything and still have not gotten any.
Sacred Hearts arrived here in Sydney today! I love historical fiction!
The Chocolate Lover's Club was a complete surprise as well, from the Reading Group Gold.
The Chocolate Lover's Club came to me, too, but there wasn't any chocolate!
FedEx just brought The Hidden Man by David Ellis...requested through Shelf Awareness...
Got Undiscovered Gryl via FedEx this morning...great timing, since I need something to read at the community pool this afternoon!
Fragment by Warren Fahy arrived today via UPS..i don't know if this was from LT Member Giveaway or from Shelf Awareness....it came from Random House but there was no cover letter. either way, it looks like a good one!
Just received a second copy of Sacred Hearts from UPS. I wonder why? Doesn't matter. It just means I'll be having a giveaway soon.
I also got two copies of Sacred Hearts and am 1/2 way thru it now....it's a great book, but be wary if you post a giveaway....this ARC has tons of typos so people should be advised that it is an ARC and may contain errors. They wouldn't be getting the finished book.
BTW, I gave my extra to a friend and asked for a perhaps guest review for my blog. That way Random house still gets publicity.
Thanks for the heads up Tutu. I haven't started mine yet. I guess I'll have to think about what I will do.
Just got Red to Black by Alex Dryden. I think hubbie and I are going to fight over who gets this one first. Looks like a great thriller.
I received Red to Black yesterday. I agree tututhefirst, the description makes it sound like a great book!
I am reading The Birthing House by Christopher Ransom. It is more creepy and interesting than horrifying. Of course, it might be more horrible for guys who will never exactly know what it is like to give birth than for women who have.
Having been very busy with opening our bookstore this past week, I was somewhat relieved to not receive many ARC's. Only somewhat, tho, as it's always such a thrill! :) I did receive a coupon for a discount on Carla Neggers new book The Mist, and I received a finished copy of Sidikiba's Kora Lesson by Ryan Thomas Skinner complete with an audio CD of Kora music featuring Sidiki Diabate. It's a children's book, and the story is good and the music interesting and different. I quite enjoyed both.
