Thought I would start thiss!

I just had cereal this morning... (maybe i can sneek a brownie...)

Jul 1, 2009, 7:50pm (top)Message 2: Ms_Bella

Tonight for dinner I am making vodka rigatoni! It is on the stove as we speak...yummy.

Jul 1, 2009, 7:55pm (top)Message 3: picolina

We had chicken breasts with baby spinach salad and rice. I love the rice my godmother makes (we're at her house.)!!

Jul 1, 2009, 9:21pm (top)Message 4: grkmwk

We met some friends for dinner at a great new restaurant downtown where I had smoked brisket, vinegar-based slaw, mac 'n cheese, hushpuppies, and Texas toast.

Jul 2, 2009, 2:20am (top)Message 5: ChocoholicBec

I just ate a very, very good chicken-and-leek pie from the bakery down the road, and a not-quite-so-good-but-still-edible orange-poppyseed muffin from the same bakery.

Tomorrow, however, I will be eating chicken soup, roast bird of some kind (either chicken or duck) and probably roast beef or lamb as well, vegetables of some sort (probably potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrot, beans...), then some kind of cake or pudding for dessert. Shabbat dinner with my Sydney relatives - yum!

I'm going through a "scared of food" stage. It always passes, but it sucks for the few days it's around. I do love food, but it makes it very difficult to choose what to eat. ...oh blah. whatever. Today I've had blueberries and raspberries for breakfast, which were very yummy :0)

Jul 2, 2009, 4:28pm (top)Message 7: Kasongo

Crab melt

Jul 2, 2009, 4:30pm (top)Message 8: Kerian

We watched an episode of Gilmore Girls last night in which Rory and Paris each had four bowls of cereal in front of them. I thought it would tempt my cereal-loving sister, but she had cheese-its and I had a peanut butter sandwich. Then I fell asleep, and she made me look for another food with sugar in it so as to stay awake.

Jul 2, 2009, 6:34pm (top)Message 9: pollysmith

lasagne (frozen leftover from last week. Of course we heated it up first)

Jul 2, 2009, 10:05pm (top)Message 10: grkmwk

Cheeseburgers, baked beans, fresh corn on the cob, and vanilla ice cream with strawberries...the perfect summer meal!

Jul 3, 2009, 10:22am (top)Message 11: lefty33

So far today, toast and yogurt. I'm seeing a lot of blueberries in my supper plans though. Mom and I are probably going blueberry picking this evening. :D

Jul 3, 2009, 11:58am (top)Message 12: pollysmith

Eggs and toast coffee and milk

Jul 3, 2009, 12:06pm (top)Message 13: foggidawn

Ooh, blueberries! I wonder if there's anywhere around here to pick them . . .

I have no idea what I'm doing for lunch, but dinner will be barbecued chicken.

Jul 3, 2009, 12:22pm (top)Message 14: picolina

We had scrambled eggs for brunch.

Jul 3, 2009, 12:37pm (top)Message 15: LadyN

blueberries, raspberries and cream for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch, salmon and avacado for tea. :-)

Jul 3, 2009, 8:30pm (top)Message 16: grkmwk

Brunch: scrambled eggs, sausage, toast with pear jelly, cantaloupe, skim milk

Dinner: BBQ chicken pita pizzas

Dessert: strawberries and shortbread cookies with dark chocolate spread

All this talk of blueberries is making me sad, as we're almost past blueberry season here, and I rarely eat them out of season because they're never as good. However, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll still find some at the farmers market in the morning...assuming I don't go into labor tonight! ;o)

Jul 3, 2009, 9:39pm (top)Message 17: lefty33

Supper was blueberries, pulled pork, corn on the cob, and more blueberries! (Sorry, Grk -- I hope you got your blueberries!)

Jul 4, 2009, 3:10am (top)Message 18: MsDonna

#5 when I saw orange & poppy seed muffin I immediately thought Sydney. Now where did you get the chicken and leek pie from?

Jul 4, 2009, 9:06am (top)Message 19: grkmwk

#17 - I *did* get blueberries, lefty!! There were plenty of places that still had some, but most of those were from farms that are in the foothills (approx. 45 mins WNW from us) where it's still cooler. I cannot wait to have some later this morning!

Breakfast this morning was a giant blueberry muffin (really, I'm crazy about these berries!), a banana and skim milk. I was hoping for a pimento cheese scone, but the stand at the farmers market didn't have any this week. :o/

Jul 4, 2009, 9:44am (top)Message 20: littlegeek

Yesterday I made a yummy three-bean salad. Then I sauteed some onions and red peppers which we had on hot dogs. Yummy summer fare.

I think we're going to hunt down a pancake breakfast this morning. After the tennis is over, of course. ;-)

Jul 4, 2009, 10:04am (top)Message 21: biblioholic29

I like blueberries, but I prefer raspberries, which are awesome right now. The last couple days I've had raspberries for breakfast. Just plain. MMmmmmm....

Jul 4, 2009, 10:08am (top)Message 22: littlegeek

I usually put both on my cereal in the morning.

Jul 4, 2009, 11:30am (top)Message 23: jugglingpaynes

I had chocolate chip pancakes for brunch. And coffee.

Jul 4, 2009, 2:07pm (top)Message 24: littlegeek

Chicken kabobs tonight. I just finished putting the chicken in the marinade. My fingers smell like garlic & ginger!

Jul 4, 2009, 6:27pm (top)Message 25: picolina

I'm eating a mango right now and I think we're having some sort of steak tonight.

Jul 4, 2009, 7:17pm (top)Message 26: pollysmith

went to Dayton to Jim's mom's and ate
green beans ham and red potattoes
fried cornbread
cabbage rolls
deviled eggs
fresh veggies and dip
fruit

and brought home the leftovers!

Jul 4, 2009, 9:18pm (top)Message 27: foggidawn

We're having taco salad. MrsEspy finds it ironic that we are eating Mexican food on the 4th of July, but as I pointed out, there's nothing particularly authentic about the way we do taco salad, so it's Tex-Mex at best.

Jul 5, 2009, 3:17pm (top)Message 28: grkmwk

We went out with my parents and their best friends from college last night, and I had an amazing Caesar salad, crab cakes, white cheddar grits, grilled veggies, and blackberry cobbler.

Brunch today was pancakes, sausage and cantaloupe. Afternoon grazing has included homemade bread with butter, a peach and a Toffee Crisp candy bar.

Jul 6, 2009, 2:12am (top)Message 29: ChelseaBottomley

Yesterday (the fourth) I had lots of random things to eat. Peanut Butter Captain Crunch for breakfast. Then a couple pieces of chicken, potato salad, and a roll for lunch. Part of a funnel cake with powdered sugar, some Fritos, a strawberry banana smoothie, part of another funnel cake, a bag of French onion Sun Chips, and a chicken sandwich from Chick-fil-A sold for a dollar for snacks and dinner...yum.

Jul 6, 2009, 8:55am (top)Message 30: biblioholic29

#27: On St. Patrick's Day my mom had Mexican, so on Cinqo de Mayo we went to the Irish Pub down the street from me. :)

I skipped breakfast this morning, so I'm munching on a nut mix and drinking lots of water.

Jul 8, 2009, 6:36pm (top)Message 31: Mutombu

For breakfast, Little Dutch Babies.

That sounds rather macabre.

A note of explanation: One of our regular breakfasts is Big Dutch Baby - a kind of pannekoekken (sp). This morning I decided to use a muffin pan instead of a pyrex cake pan. The result was 12 Little Dutch Babies instead of 1 Big Dutch Baby.

Jul 8, 2009, 9:27pm (top)Message 32: Kasongo

Bruschetta, Chicken Marsala, rice, steamed veggies and for dessert Jack Daniels chocolate ice cream.

Jul 9, 2009, 5:52am (top)Message 33: LadyN

Cereal so far.

Jul 9, 2009, 11:23am (top)Message 34: littlegeek

We went out last night to celebrate a friend's birthday and I had macadamia-encrusted ahi, just lightly seared, with asparagus spears and a lovely mushroom risotto. OMG, it was amazing!

And a lovely Boodles martini. Delish!

Jul 9, 2009, 9:52pm (top)Message 35: pollysmith

Jul 10, 2009, 8:30am (top)Message 36: biblioholic29

Jul 10, 2009, 10:35am (top)Message 39: lefty33

Toast with homemade strawberry jam. :) Mom and I make it every year and you have never had jam until you've had homemade.

Jul 10, 2009, 11:10am (top)Message 40: littlegeek

polly, Boodles is a brand of gin.

Jul 10, 2009, 10:06pm (top)Message 41: Kasongo

Pan fried MahiMahi with shiitake mushrooms, soy sauce, sticky rice and slaw. Mutombu Macadamia encrusted MahiMahi with mango and papaya sauce with sticky rice and slaw. He said I could tell you while he went to the wharf to bird watch for a bit.

Jul 11, 2009, 1:48am (top)Message 42: littlegeek

#41 It was good, wasn't it??? ;-)

Jul 11, 2009, 7:49am (top)Message 43: lefty33

Blueberries. :)

Jul 11, 2009, 8:49am (top)Message 44: Kasongo

it was very very good!! We liked them both!

Jul 11, 2009, 11:20am (top)Message 45: biblioholic29

#41/44: I'm glad you enjoyed it! I knew you'd love it.

We're having dumplings, spring rolls, marinated mushrooms and stromboli, all of which we picked up at the Farmer's Market.

Jul 11, 2009, 1:10pm (top)Message 46: littlegeek

My friend's wedding today is at her property on the coast, just at the San Mateo Co. line. They rent out some of it to organic strawberry growers. You have not had a strawberry until you've had an organic strawberry ripened on the vine freshly picked. I plan to sicken on them! (After we sing, of course.)

Glad bib's P's liked the restaurant!

Jul 11, 2009, 5:45pm (top)Message 47: Kasongo

Love those strawberries, too, my sister's best friend's parents, when we lived in Buena Park, CA, grew strawberries and my mom picked some straight from the vine. Whenever my sister went to Iwata's or Sharon spent the night here they gave us strawberries when in season.

Jul 12, 2009, 4:33pm (top)Message 48: Ms_Bella

Jul 18, 2009, 8:36pm (top)Message 52: foggidawn

Chicken casserole and cheese squash, with cookies later this evening. Mmmmm. . . .

Jul 18, 2009, 8:43pm (top)Message 53: Renald128

I made some onion rings and they were good!!

Jul 18, 2009, 9:26pm (top)Message 54: MsDonna

*waves back to JP* Now I want pancakes, chicken casserole and cookies.

#53 I've never understood onion rings.

Jul 20, 2009, 9:36pm (top)Message 55: Kasongo

Lasagna with Mutombu and Bib!! I had the lasagna, they ate other food.

Jul 21, 2009, 9:48am (top)Message 56: Mandy2

Last night my husband made dinner, still not sure what was in it. But it was yummy so I guess I should just stop wondering. I mean it was only a sandwich...right?

Jul 22, 2009, 5:47pm (top)Message 57: Ms_Bella

OK... so my last attmept at chicken, corn and potatoes failed. So I am trying again tonight!

Jul 22, 2009, 7:28pm (top)Message 58: Kasongo

I made 20 enchiladas tonight, but took 16 to some friends who moved into their "new" home today.

Jul 23, 2009, 7:54pm (top)Message 59: Mutombu

Leftover pork tenderloin with nectarines, salad and freshly baked bread.

Drunk cookies.

Aug 15, 2009, 7:57am (top)Message 64: foggidawn

#63 -- What kind of cookies?

I just realized I was on the wrong thread. I'm going to blame MsDonna for this. ;-) I'm moving my comments on melons in Russia to the August thread.

Aug 15, 2009, 8:00am (top)Message 65: MsDonna

they're still in the oven, but the person cooking them has had a few drinks so I'm calling them 'drunk cookies'.

Aug 15, 2009, 2:17pm (top)Message 66: jugglingpaynes

So not rum raisin then?
