We tend to frown on people hawking stuff from these groups. Especially people who just show up with no books in the system and less information about themselves. The trick is to become a regular here and then if you have something to sell we may take a bit more kindly to the attempt. But only after you have established yourself in the LT community through discussion. Don't take this personally, it happens all the time to people like you. Especially people who just show up with no books in the system and less information about themselves. I'd limit that to "no books in the system". Nobody expects people to give any personal information about themselves to be an accepted, participating member. (I think any relevant information about me is in my library, and I'd be disappointed to think people don't see me as a "real" member because I don't fill my profile with irrelevant fripperies about my hobbies and name and family and whatnot.) I didn't mean to imply that we are all interested in "irrelevant fripperies about (...) hobbies and name and family and whatnot." But this person's profile is the basic, default that comes from signing up on LT. My intention was to help the person out, not rag on them. Now I see the second post, a harmless one word complaint about the reaction to flagging the OP has itself been flagged. I use the word "nice" regularly and don't get flagged for it. Who are the children here? 5> I'm not entirely sure what you're accusing me of, but I didn't flag anyone here. I just objected to what I thought was a statement that people needed to provide, in your words, "information about themselves" in order to be considered bonafide members. The second comment was posted before any flagging, geneg. When I saw the thread this morning, there were no flags but the "nice" comment was already there. And look at the time -- it had been posted 1 minute after the thread was started :) Alright, nevermind.
all I wanted to do was make sure the guy had a feel for why he got flagged. I had no intention of starting a fight with anyone. Debug test: your member name is: |
