Yes, it's confession time again. I've been picking up a book here and there and haven't listed them to the group, so I thought I'd post my mass Half Price Book shopping spree now and get it out of the way:

Juvenile/YA

* Weetzie Bat and The Rose and the Beast by Francesca Lia Block (I've already finished Weetzie Bat and am currently reading the latter book. Ms. Block is slowly growing on me. I'll have to keep looking for more by her.)

* The Girl Who Owned a City by O. T. Nelson

* The Flunking of Joshue T. Bates by Susan Shreve (I read this one years back when I was a kid and really liked it. This'll be a re-read.)

Horror/Mystery

* Succubi by Edward Lee (Mr. Lee's one of my favorite horror writers, so of course I couldn't pass this one up. I just hope it's not part of a series, because I don't have Incubi yet. I'm guessing the two are related, but I'm not sure.)

* Scarecrow by Richie Tankersley Cusick (She generally writes YA horror, so I'm kind of curious how her adult horror comes out.)

* Spectre by David Robbins

* Bite by Laurell K. Hamilton, Charlaine Harris, et al. (This anthology's been on my wishlist for quite some time, so I was happy to find it!)

* Ghost House Revenge by Clare McNally (Part of the Ghost House series? I'm not sure.)

* Resurrexit by Leona C. Ross

* Night Blood by Eric Flanders

* The Unquiet Grave by Peter J. Evans

* Conversations with the Devil by Jeff Rovin

* Night Caller by Daniel Ransom

* The Forsaken by Cameron Read

* The Seduction by Art Bourgeau

* Under the Fang edited by Robert R. McCammon

* Save Johanna! by Francesca Pascal (Another writer I remember more for her kids books, ie Sweet Valley Twins, etc.)

Paranormal Romance

* Stroke of Midnight by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Amanda Ashley, L. A. Banks, & Lori Handeland

* Ghost of a Chance by Kate Marsh (aka Katie MacAlister, one of my favorite writers. I'm not sure if this is romance, but I figure since Kat(i)e writes paranormal romances, I might as well put this one here.)

* Mysteria Lane by MaryJanice Davidson, Susan Grant, et al.

* Betsy the Vampire Queen by MaryJanice Davidson (an omnibus of her Undead series, so I can read it all in one swoop)

Nonfiction

* The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler (I flipped through this one last night and couldn't stop laughing at some of the "monologues". I'll probably start reading this one next.)

* Wild Child edited by Chelsea Cain (I bought this one mainly because I loved Ms. Cain's suspense books.)

I bought a few more books (including a deck of tarot cards, which'll be interesting since I've never played with them before), but they're kind of personal, so that's it for now. (phew!)

1> I *loved* The Girl Who Owned a City when I read it years ago. Another one I recommend is The Grounding of Group Six by Julian Thompson. It's not post-apocalyptic, but it's a bit shivery.

Wow, The Grounding of Group Six sounds amazing. Even LT predicted I'd love it, so I'll have to keep my eyes peeled next time I go shopping. Thanks! And I can't believe I didn't read The Girl Who Owned a City years back. But I remember someone recommending it to me, so I figured what the hey; it's short. :)

P.S.
I added The Grounding... to my Wishlist so I won't forget. I'm really starting to like these little add-ons LT's been creating.

No hating here. :) And nice name for a kid--grubling. I think I'm going to start calling our little patrons that.

Trying to be good here, but oh the books that have been published recently.... Yesterday I brought home two magazines and a copy of Dancing to the Precipice: The Life of Lucie de la Tour du Pin, Eyewitness to an Era by Caroline Moorehead.

French revolution time period in an absolutely gorgeous cover. I think the subject was the inspiration for the recent novel Bluebird, or the Invention of Happiness by Sheila Kohler, also in my library.

Six books on the history of astronomy - ordered from the wonderful BetterWorldBooks (no affiliation, just a satisfied customer). Galileo in Rome, Galileo, Bellarmine and the Bible, Galileo's instruments of credit, The book nobody read and Galileo observed. I'm a happy camper :-)

8> Wow, The Book Nobody Read looks like a fun and funky read. Just the kind of topic I'd like. I'll have to see if a library near me has it. Happy reading.

#9: The title's very catching, I agree. :)

I bought a couple kids books @ work tonight. The Junie B. Jones books I bought (Junie B., First Grader: Shipwrecked) had a dollar bill stuck in it, so technically I didn't even buy the books. Sweet, huh? :)

Made my weekly purchase a day early. In addition to 3 magazines (fashion, knitting, and music), I bought a book which arrived in the store this very day: King of Heists: The Sensational Bank Robbery of 1878 that Shocked America.

A package of romance ARCs from HarperCollins arrived today, so I brought the contemporary Sweethearts' Knitting Club by Lori Wilde home with me, too.

9> The Book Nobody Read is truly fantastic - I finished it in one go!* If you are interested in history of astronomy or the history of books it's a real treasure, but Gingerich is a great storyteller and you don't need a lot of background knowledge to follow his stories (sometimes you get the feeling that he's a bit too proud about himself though).

* While I was reading in a park, I did get interrupted by... a mole. In pursuit of a worm. Film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScbEgB-t3...

Another week, another purchase (and more already on hold for next week).

* Take Ten for Writers by Bonnie Neubauer (1000 writing exercises, 10 minutes each; brand new title)
* Silver Screen Heroes by Ilona Fridl (a friend whose first book was just published by Wild Rose Press; 1920s Hollywood-set romance)
* A Duke of Her Own by Eloisa James (Georgian historical romance)
* Written on Your Skin by Meredith Duran (Victorian historical romance)
