I thought this would be a great book to include in our discussion list, however it bombed! Pretty much the entire group hated this book. I was the only one who tried to provide a postive outlook. Does anyone have any opinions of the book?? 2alleycat570I've read this book twice, but it's been several years so I don't remember a lot of details. I loved it. The affair with the older man did kind of give me the creeps, though. 3GirlieErin First MessageReally? That's actually one of my favorite novels. I really enjoyed the short story format and how you get to see the main character grow and develop into adulthood and everything that goes along with that including her very intense relationships with men. I thought it was very well written and realistic. 4beatles1964I just recently go this book and haven't started reading it yet. Maybe if I'm lucky I can start it this weekend. I already happen to be reading so many different books all at the same time maybe I can squeeze another one more book into all the others I am currently reading. Sometimes I am like a juggler with several balls already in the air and then one more and another one constantly gets thrown into the mix. I can only juggle so many books at a time. I really should try to finish some of the other books I am currently reading before I start another one. Why do you think so many people either love or hate this book? What is it about the writing that makes people feel this way about the book? beatles1964 5beatles1964I just started readng the book and haven't gotten too far into it yet. I'll have to report back later on and let everyone know what I thought of it. Didn't they make this into a movie? Hmmm,alleycat570 and GirlieErin your comments make me think I want to finish reading the book as fast as I can. beatles1964 6picklechicI really did not enjoy this book either. It was too slow moving and didn't seem to have a point. | AboutThis topic is not marked as primarily about any work, author or other topic. TouchstonesNo touchstones |
