I am starting this new list so the thread can match my new(ish) book blog name.

First, congrats to all who have finished or are close to finishing. That is fantastic! I am still very far behind (not even half-way there yet). But I am hoping the next few months will see me reading at least two if not three books a week to at least make it a pretty close ending.

Right now as we start off August I have just finished my 24th book:
1.I'm Gone by Jean Echenoz
2.In Cold Blood by Truman Capote
3.Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver
4.The Mayor of Castro Street by Randy Shilts
5.Rhett Butler's People by Donald McCaig
6.Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah
7.Just After Sunset by Stephen King
8.Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell
9.Change of Heart by Jodi Piccoult
10.The Cellist of Sarajevo by Steven Galloway
11.The Reader by Bernhard Schlink
12.Forbidden Bread by Erica Johnson Debeljak
13.Natasha's Dance by Orlando Figes
14.Burnt Shadows by Kamila Shamsie
15.The Host by Stephanie Meyer
16.The Madonnas of Leningrad by Debra Dean
17.Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
18.Shanghai Girls by Lisa See
19.The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff
20.The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
21.Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout
22.Commencement by J. Courtney Sullivan
23.Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
24.The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson

Thanks to all for your kind words and encouragement as I embark on hitting this number.

Welcome! That's a pretty good list. Several have been pretty popular around here, and I hope you're up for the increased growth rate of your TBR pile that comes along with joining us! 8^}

Welcome! You've read some great books this year. Animal, Vegetable, Miracle and The Time Traveler's Wife are both favorites of mine. And several of your books are on my TBR list. I look forward to seeing what you read next!

Welcome.

I just picked Natasha's Dance up at the library after reading and loving The Whisperers earlier this year. I was wondering what you thought of Natasha's Dance?

#4 arubabookwoman - I hope you enjoy Natasha's Dance I read it before going to St. Petersburg this summer and learned a lot.

Aug 12, 2009, 9:23am (top)Message 7: BaileysAndBooks

All three books are for blogging challenges I am participating in.

30. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen & Seth Grahame-Smith
31. The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory

Just keep reading! Do not stress out about the numbers :)

Sep 24, 2009, 10:43am (top)Message 12: BaileysAndBooks

Still working away on this. Back to averaging about two a week (hopefully)

32. The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood
33. The Smart One and the Pretty One by Claire LaZebnik

Sep 25, 2009, 5:39pm (top)Message 13: alcottacre

#12: How was The Year of the Flood?

Sep 28, 2009, 9:42am (top)Message 14: BaileysAndBooks

Unlike anything I had read in awhile. It was thought provoking and has really stuck with me.

Sep 28, 2009, 9:43am (top)Message 15: BaileysAndBooks

Two more last week ....
34. The Man Who Loved Books too Much by Allison Hoover Bartlett
35. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling

Sep 29, 2009, 12:39am (top)Message 16: alcottacre

#14: Thanks for the input. I am looking for more Atwood to try.

Oct 13, 2009, 8:42am (top)Message 17: BaileysAndBooks

Two more, and will now be noting if it's an ARC or from publisher, etc. ...

36. The Postmistress by Sarah Blake (ARC from B&N First Look Book Club)
37. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick (ARC from publisher)

I have been happy with my reading progress, although I obviously won't hit 75, I should get to 50, which will be more than last year and will be a good benchmark for setting next year's goals (which isn't that far away).

Happy Reading and congrats to all who have already hit 75+!

Oct 13, 2009, 6:14pm (top)Message 18: alcottacre

Congratulations on making progress toward 50. It's great that you are able to read more than last year!

Oct 13, 2009, 8:52pm (top)Message 19: drneutron

Whether you make 50 or 75, you've read some good stuff! I'm glad you joined us this year.

Oct 19, 2009, 8:36am (top)Message 20: BaileysAndBooks

Just hit 38 - should have 40 by the end of the month!

38. Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger

Oct 19, 2009, 8:37am (top)Message 21: alcottacre

#20: How is Niffenegger's latest? Does it top The Time Traveller's Wife?

Oct 19, 2009, 9:29am (top)Message 22: BaileysAndBooks

It was a good read, but definitely did not top Time Traveler's Wife.

Oct 19, 2009, 4:37pm (top)Message 23: alcottacre

OK, thanks!

Oct 26, 2009, 8:53am (top)Message 24: BaileysAndBooks

As I hoped, hit 40 and still have a week to go this month.

39. Dancing with Ana by Nicole Barker (book sent from author)
40. The White Queen by Philippa Gregory

Nov 6, 2009, 8:48am (top)Message 26: BaileysAndBooks

Two more for the list. I was just reviewing my reading journal and my resolution goal I set for myself on Jan 1st was 45 books. I will definitely hit that this year, and while I can't see making 75 - I do see 50, and maybe even 55 in my future. So here's to resolving to 75 for 2010!

41. Club Dead by Charlaine Harris
42. Benny & Shrimp by Katarina Mazetti (book sent from publicist)

Nov 6, 2009, 10:29pm (top)Message 27: alcottacre

Hey, if you even read the number of books you resolved to do, you have met your challenge, so be proud of that! After all, 75 is just a number :)

Dec 6, 2009, 2:36pm (top)Message 28: BaileysAndBooks

Only five more to go to hit 50!

43. The Private Papers of Eastern Jewel by Maureen Lindley (book sent from publisher)
44. The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown
45. Decoding the Lost Symbol by Simon Cox (book sent from publicist)

Dec 7, 2009, 12:25am (top)Message 29: alcottacre
