I am getting the Private Papers of Eastern Jewel by Maureen Lindley
Can't Wait !
This is my very first Early Reviewers book. I am getting Gaby Brimmer: An Autobiography in Three Voices. It is not something I would have normally read on my own and I'm excited for that reason. I can't wait to read it and post a review.
I will be getting the new Louise Penny mystery, The Brutal Telling.
Out of all the ER books this year, this was the one I wanted most. I can't believe I got it.
I'm getting A Supremely Bad Idea by Luke Dempsey. Wohoooooooo! This is only the 2nd time I've snagged an ER book and it sounds like it will be just my cup of tea. I'll be waiting impatiently for it to arrive.
I'm getting Where the Wild Things Were -- needless to say, I'm thrilled. (If I wouldn't be, why would I have requested it?)
I'm getting Recovering the Self: A Journal of Hope and Healing (Vol. I, No. 1). It's the first issue of a journal dedicated to hope and healing. I'm hoping it is as good as it sounds.
Requested four and got the one I wanted, A Fiery Peace In A Cold War.
I'm getting Evil at Heart! It's my first ER book and I love this series!
Good thing you didn't get one of those you requested but didn't actually want, then! ;)
Wow, I thought I'd never get another one after a really long dry spell, but woohoo! I'm getting The Trial of Robert Mugabe, which is perfect because I've been reading a lot of African literature these days.
Nothing again. *sigh* I'll get over it eventually. . .
Maybe next month!
I'm getting Slumberland. Is it just me or did this batch seem like it was forever ago? Must be those long days of summer getting to me...
I'm getting Stories in Stone: Travels Through Urban Geology by David B. Williams. My geological side anxiously awaits..
#8 - I am getting that, too! I am a bird-watching nutter, so I am extraordinarily excited about this one. :o)
I'm getting The Artist, the Philosopher, and the Warrior! I can't wait to read it!
I got the Doctorow -- Homer & Langley. No touchstone, probably the ampersand.
I just received in today's mail Sworn To Silence. It is my 1st from LTER. I also am supposed to receive The Aviary Gate, but do not expect that to arrive until later in the month, as this is already August. I want to read it right away, but am in the middle of Pride and Prejudice and two other books.
I have just been notified that I will be getting The Concubines Daughter by Pai Kit Fai. The description sounds really delicious:)
Nothing this month! But am hoping to score Outlander by Diana Gabaldon from the Member Giveaway!
Oh well.. I do have several books to giveaway on my blog though :) www.booknerdextraordinaire.blogspot.com
I didn't think I would get anything, but I was chosen for Weekends at Bellevue. Sweet.
I've been chosen for How to Be a Hepburn in a Hilton World by Jordan Christy - perfect summer reading!
>20 dchaikin: Hey dchaikin I'm getting a copy of that book (Stories in Stone: Travles Through Urban Geology) too!
Is librarything targeting us now based on specific information or just a freak accident?
I snagged Occult America ... I hope it actually shows up, unlike the one from May that I'm still waiting for!
I'm delighted to be getting The Brutal Telling by Louise Penny. This is my first ER, and I'm really looking forward to reading it!
I'm getting The Smart Stepmom and I won't be reading it a second too soon. I've been a stepmom for about 6 months and feel like I'm getting dumber about it by the second. :)
None for me this month, but I have so many TBR books and some ARCs for review on my shelf to keep me busy.
#40 stretch - the mysterious algorithm...
There were 30 copies with 1051 requests (which seems like a lot). So, 2.8% of the requesters got a book (a 1/35.7 chance...maybe) and at least two of them (you and I) are geologists - probably not a huge population on LT...
Probably it managed to find users with geological collections, or even just the tag "Geology" - of which we both have unusually high use of. But, maybe it was smart enough to read the "About me" on our profiles... :)
I'm getting How to Be a Hepburn in a Hilton World.
What with that and the imminent return of Project Runway, I shall be a model fashionista by fall!
The Spire by Richard North Patterson! I used to be a great fan of his so I'm looking forward to this one!
There were 30 copies with 1051 requests (which seems like a lot).
That's about average, actually. The really popular books -- like Lexicographer's Dilemma -- have a lot more. (2060 requests for 35 copies of that one)
#49 - I did a quick error-prone count, all I had time for, and found 64 books. The 1051 requests for Stories in Stone was the 14th (or was it 15th - I kind of lost count).
Oh, it may be above the median -- I just meant it wasn't an outlier, which is what I interpreted "seems like a lot" to mean.
Sadly, I won't be getting anything this month. But I was kind of expecting that- I've been quite lucky the past few months, so I suspect it's time to give someone else a turn :-)
Nothing for me this month (month #2). But I had three in a row before that. Congrats ya'll!
I am (this month) generally pleased with The Algorithm! After nearly a year of hoping and hoping but getting nothing, I am going to be getting my second ER: Where the Wild Things Were by William Stolzenburg. So far, The Algorythm seems to know what it is doing. I want everything but it sends me what I know best.
Nothing for me this month...it's been a while. Congratz to everyone who managed to get what they wanted!
I'm not getting anything but I'm not (too) bitter 'cause I already have my 10 summer vacation books packed and ready to go!
Virginia Brown's Dixie Divas is on its way to me! Looks/sounds cute :)
I'm getting How to Be a Hepburn in a Hilton World. I admire Audrey Hepburn's style and grace so much; I'm looking forward to this!
My goodness, I am very fortunate then! This is only the second attempt for me, and my first ER awarded book.
Apparently I'm getting The Bradshaw Variations which is a bit odd as I don't recall requesting it - I'm careful only to request books I really want, and miss a month if there's nothing I fancy. And cos they are closed now, I can't check if I did actually request it or not. Oh well, I'll do my duty by it!
I'm also getting Things Worth Remembering by Jackina Stark. I liked her first book so I'm looking forward to her second one.
Finally received Kathy Reichs' 206 Bones. Started reading it and was immediately sucked into the story. She can tell more about forensic anthropology in a few pages without making you think she is lecturing you than I have ever seen. I have loved all her books I have read so far, and this looks to be another hit on my list.
