I haven't had a message either way :(

Edited: Aug 4, 2009, 6:24pm Top

This is my very first Early Reviewers book. I am getting Gaby Brimmer: An Autobiography in Three Voices. It is not something I would have normally read on my own and I'm excited for that reason. I can't wait to read it and post a review.

Aug 4, 2009, 6:24pm Top

Evil at Heart by Chelsea Cain - Can't wait to read it!

Aug 4, 2009, 6:28pm Top

I will be getting the new Louise Penny mystery, The Brutal Telling.

Out of all the ER books this year, this was the one I wanted most. I can't believe I got it.

Aug 4, 2009, 6:29pm Top

Regret-Free Living by Steve Arterburn

Aug 4, 2009, 6:31pm Top

I'm getting A Supremely Bad Idea by Luke Dempsey. Wohoooooooo! This is only the 2nd time I've snagged an ER book and it sounds like it will be just my cup of tea. I'll be waiting impatiently for it to arrive.

Aug 4, 2009, 6:44pm Top

I'm thrilled. I'm getting Chelsea Cain's new novel Evil at Heart. She is on my must-read authors list, so I can't believe I've received the chance to be one of the firsts to receive her latest offering!

Aug 4, 2009, 6:46pm Top

I'm getting Where the Wild Things Were -- needless to say, I'm thrilled. (If I wouldn't be, why would I have requested it?)

Aug 4, 2009, 6:47pm Top

I'm getting Recovering the Self: A Journal of Hope and Healing (Vol. I, No. 1). It's the first issue of a journal dedicated to hope and healing. I'm hoping it is as good as it sounds.

Aug 4, 2009, 6:48pm Top

Requested four and got the one I wanted, A Fiery Peace In A Cold War.

Aug 4, 2009, 6:49pm Top

I'm getting Evil at Heart! It's my first ER book and I love this series!

Aug 4, 2009, 6:56pm Top

Good thing you didn't get one of those you requested but didn't actually want, then! ;)

Aug 4, 2009, 6:57pm Top

Wow, I thought I'd never get another one after a really long dry spell, but woohoo! I'm getting The Trial of Robert Mugabe, which is perfect because I've been reading a lot of African literature these days.

Aug 4, 2009, 7:01pm Top

Nothing again. *sigh* I'll get over it eventually. . .

Maybe next month!

Aug 4, 2009, 7:03pm Top

I'm getting Daphne! So excited - maybe I'll re-read Rebecca in anticipation.

Aug 4, 2009, 7:05pm Top

I'm getting Slumberland. Is it just me or did this batch seem like it was forever ago? Must be those long days of summer getting to me...

Aug 4, 2009, 7:07pm Top

none again for me...

that's a whole year with no books :(

Aug 4, 2009, 7:15pm Top

I'm getting Stories in Stone: Travels Through Urban Geology by David B. Williams. My geological side anxiously awaits..

Aug 4, 2009, 7:20pm Top

Aug 4, 2009, 7:36pm Top

I'm getting The Artist, the Philosopher, and the Warrior! I can't wait to read it!

Aug 4, 2009, 7:43pm Top

I'm getting The Spire. #17 Daphne was a very good book, I enjoyed it very much.

Edited: Aug 4, 2009, 7:47pm Top

I got the Doctorow -- Homer & Langley. No touchstone, probably the ampersand.

Aug 4, 2009, 7:48pm Top

I'm getting Come on Shore and We Will Kill and Eat You All by Christina Thompson, a memoir about an American woman who married a Maori.

Aug 4, 2009, 7:56pm Top

I just received in today's mail Sworn To Silence. It is my 1st from LTER. I also am supposed to receive The Aviary Gate, but do not expect that to arrive until later in the month, as this is already August. I want to read it right away, but am in the middle of Pride and Prejudice and two other books.

Aug 4, 2009, 8:12pm Top

Woo-hoo! I'm getting Soul Catcher by Deborah Smith!

Aug 4, 2009, 8:46pm Top

I have just been notified that I will be getting The Concubines Daughter by Pai Kit Fai. The description sounds really delicious:)

Aug 4, 2009, 8:47pm Top

I received Sworn to Silence by Linda Castillo today. My first ER book!

Aug 4, 2009, 8:54pm Top

--> 4

I'm also getting Gaby Brimmer: An Autobiography in Three Voices. I'm excited as well. It'll go great in my 999 Challenge.

Oh well.. I do have several books to giveaway on my blog though :) www.booknerdextraordinaire.blogspot.com

Aug 4, 2009, 9:05pm Top

I didn't think I would get anything, but I was chosen for Weekends at Bellevue. Sweet.

Aug 4, 2009, 10:30pm Top

I am thrilled to be getting After You.

Aug 4, 2009, 10:50pm Top

>20 dchaikin: Hey dchaikin I'm getting a copy of that book (Stories in Stone: Travles Through Urban Geology) too!

Is librarything targeting us now based on specific information or just a freak accident?

Aug 5, 2009, 1:14am Top

I snagged Occult America ... I hope it actually shows up, unlike the one from May that I'm still waiting for!

Aug 5, 2009, 9:03am Top

I'm delighted to be getting The Brutal Telling by Louise Penny. This is my first ER, and I'm really looking forward to reading it!

Aug 5, 2009, 9:17am Top

I'm getting The Smart Stepmom and I won't be reading it a second too soon. I've been a stepmom for about 6 months and feel like I'm getting dumber about it by the second. :)

Aug 5, 2009, 9:34am Top

Congrats all!
None for me this month, but I have so many TBR books and some ARCs for review on my shelf to keep me busy.
Happy Reading!

Aug 5, 2009, 9:38am Top

#40 stretch - the mysterious algorithm...

There were 30 copies with 1051 requests (which seems like a lot). So, 2.8% of the requesters got a book (a 1/35.7 chance...maybe) and at least two of them (you and I) are geologists - probably not a huge population on LT...

Probably it managed to find users with geological collections, or even just the tag "Geology" - of which we both have unusually high use of. But, maybe it was smart enough to read the "About me" on our profiles... :)

Aug 5, 2009, 10:17am Top

I'm getting How to Be a Hepburn in a Hilton World.

What with that and the imminent return of Project Runway, I shall be a model fashionista by fall!

Aug 5, 2009, 10:25am Top

Nothing for me once again :(

Aug 5, 2009, 10:53am Top

The Spire by Richard North Patterson! I used to be a great fan of his so I'm looking forward to this one!

Aug 5, 2009, 10:57am Top

There were 30 copies with 1051 requests (which seems like a lot).

That's about average, actually. The really popular books -- like Lexicographer's Dilemma -- have a lot more. (2060 requests for 35 copies of that one)

Aug 5, 2009, 11:41am Top

#49 - I did a quick error-prone count, all I had time for, and found 64 books. The 1051 requests for Stories in Stone was the 14th (or was it 15th - I kind of lost count).

Aug 5, 2009, 12:19pm Top

Oh, it may be above the median -- I just meant it wasn't an outlier, which is what I interpreted "seems like a lot" to mean.

Aug 5, 2009, 12:22pm Top

Sadly, I won't be getting anything this month. But I was kind of expecting that- I've been quite lucky the past few months, so I suspect it's time to give someone else a turn :-)

Aug 5, 2009, 12:39pm Top

Nothing for me this month (month #2). But I had three in a row before that. Congrats ya'll!

Aug 5, 2009, 12:50pm Top

I am (this month) generally pleased with The Algorithm! After nearly a year of hoping and hoping but getting nothing, I am going to be getting my second ER: Where the Wild Things Were by William Stolzenburg. So far, The Algorythm seems to know what it is doing. I want everything but it sends me what I know best.

Aug 5, 2009, 1:29pm Top

Nothing for me this month...it's been a while. Congratz to everyone who managed to get what they wanted!

Aug 5, 2009, 2:15pm Top

I snagged a copy of Evil at Heart by Chelsea Cain. Yayyyyy!!!

Aug 5, 2009, 3:08pm Top

I'm not getting anything but I'm not (too) bitter 'cause I already have my 10 summer vacation books packed and ready to go!

Aug 5, 2009, 3:57pm Top

Virginia Brown's Dixie Divas is on its way to me! Looks/sounds cute :)

Aug 5, 2009, 4:05pm Top

Yes! Soul Catcher by Deborah Smith!

Aug 5, 2009, 4:41pm Top

I'm also getting Soul Catcher by Deborah Smith.

Aug 5, 2009, 5:56pm Top

I'm getting How to Be a Hepburn in a Hilton World. I admire Audrey Hepburn's style and grace so much; I'm looking forward to this!

Aug 5, 2009, 6:37pm Top

>49 lorax:.

My goodness, I am very fortunate then! This is only the second attempt for me, and my first ER awarded book.

Aug 6, 2009, 3:40am Top

Apparently I'm getting The Bradshaw Variations which is a bit odd as I don't recall requesting it - I'm careful only to request books I really want, and miss a month if there's nothing I fancy. And cos they are closed now, I can't check if I did actually request it or not. Oh well, I'll do my duty by it!

Aug 6, 2009, 10:08am Top

I'll be getting Things Worth Remembering by Jakina Stark. :)

Aug 6, 2009, 11:41am Top

That was fast! My copy of Homer and Langley by E. L. Doctorow just arrived on my desk. Kind of short. Should be able to read it this weekend, even though it means interrupting my reading of Through the Maelstrom by Boris Gorbachevsky.

Aug 6, 2009, 11:50am Top

I'm also getting Things Worth Remembering by Jackina Stark. I liked her first book so I'm looking forward to her second one.

Aug 6, 2009, 12:24pm Top

Finally received Kathy Reichs' 206 Bones. Started reading it and was immediately sucked into the story. She can tell more about forensic anthropology in a few pages without making you think she is lecturing you than I have ever seen. I have loved all her books I have read so far, and this looks to be another hit on my list.

Aug 6, 2009, 4:30pm Top

Aug 6, 2009, 5:14pm Top

I would have requested The Aviary Gate except I already bought it.

Aug 9, 2009, 1:39pm Top

Nothing, again, this month. I have a good feeling about August.

Aug 12, 2009, 7:34am Top

Hope you enjoy it!
Howard Shrier

Aug 23, 2009, 12:12am Top

I snagged Occult America too. I can not put this book down!

Aug 23, 2009, 7:45pm Top

Seven months, again nothing.

Aug 24, 2009, 7:35am Top

Received, read and reviewed the Doctorow--Homer and Langley. That might be the fastest I've turned one around so far!
