Every few months I poke around and re-visit parts of the site that I don't use regularly to refresh my memory. I invariably end up clicking on the "Shared Favorites" link and am reminded why this feature is not nearly as interesting to me as it could be.

I keep a fairly trim favorites list and so when I see that someone shares 7 or 8 favorites with me I get all excited and click through. Invariably these folks have dozens (or more) authors favorited - which is fine but doesn't really do much for what I expect from this feature.

Some sort of weighting of this feature - it is more significant if I share 6 authors with someone who has only 10 authors listed than if I share 8 authors with someone who has 80 authors listed. It is even more interesting if those authors are more obscure (not that mine are but still...).

I fully support this request. I've kept my favourite list pretty short, in the expectation that any reasonable set of matches will indicate a large degree of compatibility between libraries, but those Thingamabrarians with upwards of 50 favourites really skew the results.

I wish there was more nuance to Author Favorites. Having the ability to rate authors as we do books would be something I'd find very helpful.

Right now I have half a dozen authors favorited, but there are others that I've enjoyed a lot and would like to keep in mind, but don't want to make the "Shared Favorites" unusable.

If Author Rating ever happened, I would like it to be able to:

.. show my ratings in my catalog, sortable
.. on Work pages, show the average member Author Rating, along with MY Author Rating (if its an author I've read and rated, whether or not I've read that particular book)

I've accidentally bought books on recommendations here, forgetting how much I hated the author's writing in some previous read. I would really appreciate that 'reminder' when looking at Works.
