Anyone read this yet? I started it a while ago and it's slow going but it's extremely interesting! I am only part way through so far and I am utterly amazed that we know so little based upon fact but rather much more upon speculation. (Intelligent guessing) LOL

Its in my to be bought list, so I haven't read it yet. It will be a plesant surprise if Dawkins has managed to keep his occasional rants toned down to evidence based discussions. There ARE a lot of gaps in evolutionary theory, but more links are being found continually.

I think you'll find that Dawkins goes on quite a few rants in this one too LOL He especially hates Bush and seems to look for opportunities to slam him whenever possible. It's quite entertaining for those of us that aren't that fond of him but Bush fans may have a problem with it.

I understand how Dawkins feels. Living in the state that spring-boarded Bush to the Residency, I know first-hand how utterly inept W is. He makes decisions based in what people tell him, and he only listens to certain people.

It's like dealing with my ex in a way. Even when all the evidence clearly points to "A", she (and Bush) chooses to state "B" (in their own context). Utterly frustrating.

Like the sign says, if you're not completely appalled, you're not paying attention.

I just finished listening to the audio version - it's abridged and makes a very good introduction to the complete book. Didn't notice any rants, but maybe I'm not sensitive to these things.

I havent read the book, just seen some reviews.

The reviews makes it seem like a must read for a good introduction to Darwinism, but I hadnt heard that it was particularly delicious on atheism per se.

Of course, given Dawkin's well known opinions we would certainly expect an atheist friendly exposition, but thats not the same thing as a direct pro atheist polemic.
