Where are you reading from today? My first book is The Traveler's Gift and the rest are just whatever I pick up including books to read to my kids.

3 facts about me …
1. I have two boys ages 5yrs and 8 months
2. I hardly ever read Non-fiction
3. I am 23 yrs old and still learning a bout blogs really

How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?
21 right on hand plus I can easily find books I haven't read yet if I just look in my packed boxes

Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?

Since my plans got changed on me I'm going to try for AT LEAST 12 hours But I'm hoping for the full 24hrs.

If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, Any advice for people doing this for the first time?

I have coffee right beside me and I'm my boys right in front of me watching mickey mouse club house so I know I won't be falling asleep. I'm planing on getting a breath of fresh air in a lil bit. I'm sitting in my recliner with my legs over the arm in the living room.

So far I'm on my second time of listening to mickey mouse club house and 2nd cup of coffee. I'm still reading The Travelers Gift. I've only read a measly 56 pages so far but my head hasn't fully been into it. As you can imagine it's not the easiest to focus on reading when you have a 5yr old and an 8 month old.

"If a thousand people believe something foolish, it is still foolish!"

"if you worry about what other people think of you, then you will have more confidence in their opinion than you have in your own. Poor is the man whose future depends on the opinions and permission of others. Remember this, if you are afraid of criticism, you will die doing nothing."

I'll check back in in about an 1 1/2 hrs.

"Do not run from power. Gather it as you would the finest fruit. Power in the hands of a good person is like a cool drink of water on a hot summer day. It refreshes everyone with whome it comes in contact."

"As children, we were afraid of the dark. Now as adults, we are afraid of the light. We are afraid to step out. We are afraid to become more."

Hour 8 Readathon Mini-Challenge: Drabble Time

Melissa's day started at 3:30 in the morning. She was excited about her first Read-a-thon but apparently her youngest son wasn't. He was hungery and he decided to wake her up less than three hours later to eat again. She was planning on getting up at 6:30 anyway to prepare for the day. So she went downstairs and started coffee. She got off to a slow start on reading but as the time passed she gain energy to keep reading. She finished her first short book later than she wanted. Then she went on to finish the whole 24 hours with a tired but happy smile on her face.

Book: The Traveler's Gift by Andy Andrews

Reading Is Fundamental (Read-a-Thon Mini-Challenge)

My youngest was in his little reclining chair and my oldest was on my lap. We got through Cowboy dreams, Funny Farm, and The Tickle Stories. At the end of Tickle Stories I HAD to rest my eyes for 20 minutes.

Read-a-Thon Mini Challenge: Early Favorites

The first book that I can Remeber LOVING would have to be Erich Segal's Love Story. I remember finding it mixed in a box full of my parents old stuff. I read it for the first time when I was about 13 and there was one summer that I reread it at least 2 or 3 times.

HELP!!!!! I'M STARTING TO DRAG. I thought that there was supposed to be cheerleaders that went around to everyones blog and cheered them on? Is anyone even reading this?

I'm sorry I get cranky without sleep. But sometimes it's just nice to know that your not wasting your time writing things when no one is reading them. Between my son waking up and my computer having internet problems it's been an interesting hour I'm really into my book but the words are blurring a little bit.

honeydew - I am so sorry you didn't get any cheerleaders. I am impressed with the amount you got done. Great effort - and great job of persevering in the face of loneliness in the depths of the night. When I read your earlier posts, you seemed to be doing so well, I forgot to check back. I'm sorry.

Poor Lulu. You definitely want to strangle her sometimes!

Well she wouldn't be so bad if she didn't mouth off so much and didn't act so big and bad. You have no idea how disappointed i was with finger lickin fifeteen because it revolved around her so much.
