Don Pinnock "Rainmaker" just published. about to read it. Will comment once I have.

So how did you find Rainmaker? Don was one of my journalism lecturers at Rhodes - his wife is a very successful writer.

i found the opening chapters compelling, then I slowed to a halt half way as I felt less in touch with the boy's emotional history: but I have to finish it before passing judgement. Yes I'm old friends od theirs: they are both prolific: the joke goes that when the Pinnocks want to throw a party thay publish a book to provide the occasion!
