Yeah, I know. The problem is that the message is already translated. That is, it'll appear correctly on every language's site. If I change it to singular, it'll be a new string. I thought it better to be slightly wrong than not understood.

Can't you change the time, then? Say 1.5 hours, and people will be happy if it's up a bit early.

Just say it will be down for two hours. It comes back "early", people are happy, and you've fixed the grammatical infelicity as well. :)
