I just had a bizarre experience. An ARC arrived via UPS that was cash on delivery. So $19 later I have this thing sitting on my desk and suffice to say I'm not a happy camper. Has anyone ever experienced this?

It's never happened to me, and, if it did, I would refuse the package and let the sender know why.

I know that some folks had ARCs show up postage due, but that's really outrageous. I would be curious to know the book and publisher.

It was Black Heron Press the book was Exit Blue by Ivan G. Goldman. They're claiming that it was a mistake and they're going to mail me a check. Suffice it to say I'll believe that when I see it.

I would just refuse delivery. That's ridiculous.

Wow. One book was $20 bucks?!? That's ridiculous. With mediamail it should have been under 5 dollars. (I've shipped stuff that way and it arrives in under a week)
Anyway... could be a mistake. New guy in the mailroom or something.

The OP is in Canada. They don't have media mail there. And if the ARC came from outside Canada, that $19 might have included duty.
