Sounds good, but not showing for me. Does something need to be refreshed at my end?

Edited: Jul 13, 2010, 1:25am Top

Not working for me either: something IS showing, but it's not right. Someone is listed on the Ancient History group under "private watch list" who isn't in my private watch list.

ETA: I'm seeing this on a few other groups too, but not all groups. Random people are listed next to "private watch list," but they're not actually on my watch list.

Fixed. Sorry.

Yup. Looks good.

Funny Quirk Found!

I went to check this out and the first Group I looked at was "Combiners!" - I see 509 members but I don't see any names (and I KNOW I have contacts in Combiners!) ... I then realize that the Combiners! group was changed to a STANDING group so the members thing doesn't really apply anymore...BUT then I also see a line:

"Recent members: No members. This group is a candidate for removal."

Now, Tim, I know you aren't thinking of getting rid of us! (even though we sometimes give you a hard time) - but maybe someone could block out the visibility of the members info on the groups that were converted to standing groups.

Looks like the thin edge of the wedg(i)e for the Combiners! group.

Jul 13, 2010, 9:12am Top

It would be interesting if you could turn this around and show me the groups that my connections are most on (weighted for obscurity of the group).

Jul 13, 2010, 10:13am Top

Good idea. I can do that. 10am? I can do it!

The main thing is that I now have an efficient group-member list, and can do Zeitgeist-y stuff. My main problem there is that I need to make a lot of junk for it—a page, special controls for paging through shared books, sorting it, etc. etc. Also, while some groups work, a group with 1,000 members is too many to efficiently and quickly make the top books for it. So a caching layer... It gets harder.

Shiny. Small but interesting. I like.

Stop working on features that require me to have friends!

Jul 13, 2010, 10:48am Top

13> Does this work for the top 50 similar libraries too? I thought it would, but I don't see anything for any of the groups I look at. It would be nice for those of us who don't use friends much on LT.

Jul 13, 2010, 10:58am Top

Does this mean "search group members' libraries" might come back soon too? {... crosses fingers and grins ... }

Just added that. Thanks.

Stop working on features that require me to have friends!

You know, I think I've just decided on the one legal use of sock puppets—if you need to make friends for yourself. :)

search group members' libraries

Yeah. I think it's doable.

Edited: Jul 13, 2010, 11:01am Top

14> No, it only connects to your friends or your interesting libraries.

ETA: Wow, Tim added a feature while I was saying the feature doesn't exist. That's surreal.

Edited: Jul 13, 2010, 12:14pm Top

I'm getting...

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /var/www/html/groups.php on line 550

...onn every group page where I think this feature should go now.

Jul 13, 2010, 12:18pm Top

18 > That's because Tim is your friend.

Jul 13, 2010, 12:40pm Top

Whipped off jjwilson61's suggestion.

>19 jjwilson61:

Are you still getting it. Give me a URL?

Jul 13, 2010, 1:13pm Top

It's nice to see what connections share the group with me, but it feels cluttery. I wish we could collapse it (with a show/hide link or similar). If that's not possible, I'm sure I will get over it with only a few days of minor, quiet pouting, and then forget that it ever wasn't there. ;-)

Also, while you are doing things on the group page, what ever happened to having the total member count in parenthesis after the list of recent members? I miss that.

>22 jjwilson61:

Fixed. Thanks.

>23 foggidawn:

The total member count is there now. It's not in parentheses.

#24 -- So it is. Now I feel quite observant. Thanks!

Jul 14, 2010, 11:02am Top

Should I now appologise to all my connections who've gained my 130+ groups in their Stats link?

And even given my relatively limited connections use, the long tail on '1 friend is a member groups' is already very very long.

Jul 14, 2010, 12:27pm Top

Good point. Sometimes it can be VERY long.

I added pagination, which should make it bearable.

Edited: Jul 14, 2010, 12:45pm Top

27> Bearded, eh?

I'm still not able to see information for anything except "All connections." Clicking on the other connections does nothing. (Firefox 3.6.3/XP)

Jul 14, 2010, 12:44pm Top

You have to keep track of them, or they run wild.

Jul 14, 2010, 5:25pm Top

The people or the beards?
