Inbred Hybrid Collective and MIXNYC present another Book Club Burlesque: Night Moves (December 22 at 8:00pm)
A book club burlesque inspired by City of Night, by John Rechy. Come explore the seedy side of the 60s. A variety show featuring the bizarre, strange, and subversive. The entire evening will be themed around the novel, City of Night. The book follows the travels of a young man (Rechy uses the term youngman ... (more)when referring to hustlers) across the country while working as a hustler. The book focuses chapters on locations that the boy visits and certain personages he meets there, from New York, to Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New Orleans. We encourage our artists to fully bring their own creativity to each piece. Inbred Hybrid Collective was established in 2005. Our mandate is: to stimulate a consciousness of the external factors affecting our human existence. The type of interventions associated with Inbred Hybrid Collective, achieved as artistic concept, constitute a provocation for the public to reflect upon the influence that this immersion has had upon them. Past books have included: Lolita, Valley of the Dolls, Less Than Zero, The Scarlet Letter, Archie Comics, the Brothers Grimm Collection, Siddhartha, Stranger in a Strange Land.
