Description: A Heritage Property
Completed in 1890, St. Brigid's is located in the Lowertown neighbourhood of Ottawa and was built to serve those of largely of Irish heritage. In 2006, the Catholic Church announced the church would close until private investors purchased the building and created the Irish-Canadian Heritage Centre. It is now designed to host art exhibits, plays and concerts. St. Brigid's interior includes Tudor fan vaults with pendants, murals, and period stained glass windows.

Renovations Update Facility:

There are now two multi-purpose spaces,
the KILDARE ROOM which can accommodate up to 150 patrons, and the
GRAND CANAL CONCERT HALL with a capacity of 700. Modern washrooms and a bar service provide an additional welcome to visitors who now come to enjoy local, national and international performers. Renovations also exposed the old rock foundation but have not impacted on the quality sound musicians are pleased to perform in.

Don’t be surprised to hear regularly scheduled Irish Music. As home of the Irish-Canadian Heritage Centre, Irish musical events are regularly performed. With its proximity to Ottawa’s vibrant ByWard Market, the centre adds another element to the downtown entertainment district.
