Description: The Texas Book Festival celebrates authors and their contributions to the culture of literacy, ideas, and imagination. The Festival is one of the premier literary events in the country, annually hosting over 200 Texas and nationally known authors. In 2009, more than 30,000 visitors participated in a weekend of vibrant literary events, panel discussions, book signings, fun events for children with the nation's most beloved kid's writers, and musical entertainment at the State Capitol in Austin, all open and free to the public. The 15th Texas Book Festival will take place October 16-17 in 2010 at the Texas State Capitol in Austin. In addition to the two-day Festival, the Texas Book Festival actively promotes the fun of reading to Texas' neediest children through its Reading Rock Stars program, which sends some of the nation's finest kid's writers to low-income schools, not to mention that the Texas Book Festival has given more than $2.3 million to Texas public libraries over its 15-year existence.
