About the Press Club
The Atlanta Press Club has grown to become one of the largest and most dynamic professional journalism associations in the country. Our membership encompasses Atlanta’s burgeoning media community - print, broadcast and online, big and small, national and local media outlets. Over half of our 800-plus members are working journalists. The balance is public relations professionals, educators, retirees and students.
As a professional and networking organization, APC hosts educational and social programs every month. Our monthly programs take a challenging look at how journalists are doing their jobs. Recent topics have included "The 24-Hour News Cycle," "Covering the Suburbs," and "Anonymous Sources."
The Atlanta Press Club is the place to mix and mingle at some of Atlanta’s favorite social events. At the Holiday Author Party, more than 30 local and national authors are available to sign their books and mix with members. The Annual Gala is a night to celebrate achievement in journalism through awards and a special presentation by a keynote speaker. The ever-popular spring event, the Gorilla Ball, is a night of lunacy as local TV news stations and CNN compete for the coveted "Otto Focus Award" for outstanding bloopers. Our Mid-Month Mixers afford members an opportunity to mix and mingle at Atlanta's hippest bars and restaurants.
The Atlanta Press Club sponsors a series of televised political debates and hosts First Amendment programming. The Club also supports students through its scholarship and internship program.
Located at The Commerce Club, the Atlanta Press Club is staffed by a full-time executive director and assistant director. Our annual sponsors include CNN, Cox Enterprises, UPS, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the four local television affiliates.
