Surrey Museum Hooser Textile Studio and LibraryWeb site: http://www.surrey.ca/culture-recreation/2377.aspx Description: Explore the age-old traditions of spinning, weaving, and other crafts through demonstrations, hands-on activities, special events, lectures and craft workshops taught by experts for adults and children throughout the year.
The Studio houses several looms, including a rare working Jacquard loom, sometimes called "the first computer". Volunteers will be happy to share their skills and let visitors of all ages try their hands at spinning, weaving and other fibre arts.
Find out more about these fascinating crafts in the Hooser Library, which holds a wide collection of books and patterns, all previously owned by Surrey weaver Honey Hooser.
