[edit] Character
[edit] What is a character?
A character is someone or something that is mentioned in your book. These creations range from throwaway names to fully developed characters.
They are normally human, but can be human, alien, animal, or even a thing - Such as The Wailing Wall of Jerusalem.
[edit] Entering characters
When you are entering the characters in Common Knowledge - try to give them a name that uniquely identifies them.
Ex: Yanaba "Yana" Maddock-Shongoli, Col, of Kilcoolie, Petaybe.
The reason is simple: As you are entering characters, you will receive a drop-down list of existing characters of that name. If you (or someone else) have already entered that character, you can simply click on the existing entry to add it, linking to that character - and just incidentally not duplicate the carrie in the database!
[edit] Why bother?
Okay, so I've entered the characters. So what?
When you look at Common Knowledge, you will notice all characters are listed in BLUE.. these are hyperlinks.
Click on the carrie's name, and you will find yourself on a Character Page featuring that person/thing. It will show you the titles associated with that character (and perhaps you can follow the adventures of a minor character who turns out to be much larger than anticipated), the other characters associated with your carrie, 'AND', in the upper right-hand corner, you will find an editable box containing a description of that character.
Or giving you the option to enter the description.
Neat, huh?
