I read Greenwitch on Friday, and I read Caddie Ever After (which doesn't want to touchstone) yesterday. Next I think I'm reading The Grey King and Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography.

How strange. I finished Red Land, Black Land. Yay me! It was good. Next I think I'm going to read Greenwitch.

#73 "Greenwitch" by Susan Cooper The middle of the 5 books in the Sequence. The shortest but the most densely written so far. The Drews return along with Will Stanton and visit Trewissick in Cornwall for a week after the Grail, recovered in book one, is stolen from its museum home. A ...

190- my sister says that you should read over sea under stone (the first in the series) before you read greenwitch (the third in the series). :) edited to add touchstones

Greenwitch by Susan Cooper

37. Title: Greenwitch Author: Susan Cooper Notes: Book three in the Dark is Rising Sequence. This was my favorite out of the first three so far. Also the shortest.

byzanne in Penguin Books : Puffins (Aug 18, 2007, 4:00am)

I've recently got hold of old Puffin copies of Greenwitch by Susan Cooper and of Elidor by Alan Garner. I remember reading the series from which they came when I was about 10 or 11, I think. There is something special for me having old Puffins rather than more recent editions, even though ...

Eh, I prefer HP. They were alright. The Dark is Rising is better than Over Sea, Under Stone or Greenwitch. I haven't read the other two in the series.

... readable as a standalone book, I wouldn't use it as an entry point to the series, because you'll be all confused at book 3 Greenwitch without having read Over sea Under stone. But for what it is - young adult fantasy, DiR is still one of the classics of the genre IMHO.

... in the 1980's left a lot to be desired when it comes to characterization. Basically, she's a wimp, he's a jerk. #71 Greenwitch by Susan Cooper Color me still unimpressed by The Dark is Rising series. The only reason I'm going to finish this set is because I'm a completist and they are ...

Yes, how the choices you make shapes your future is a strong theme in may ways... I still don't agree on Greenwitch, anyhow, I thought it felt very much like stereotyped YA lit...

I've just finished Greenwitch and I think it's interesting how the Drew children are needed because of who they are rather than what they can do. They shape events by their innocent actions. They juxtapose Will who has all this power and knowledge to draw on. Even with the powers of the old ...

Yes, that's what I figured so I went on reading Greenwitch which I finished last evening. I started on The Grey King today. So far I agree with those who've said that the third book wasn't as good as the second. The characters missed in depth and personally I feel that the whole concept of ...

Are there someone else but me out there that has continued reading the last three books in the sequence (Greenwitch, The grey king & Silver on the Tree)? Anyone else who's interested in discussing those? *edited to fix touchstones, they didn't touch when I posted this*

I continued with the rest of the books in The Dark is Rising sequence. Finished Greenwitch last night and started on The Grey King this morning on my way to work. On my bedside table I have a copy of The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Fantasy. It looks promising, but I've only had time enough to ...

... read the fourth and fifth book in the Earthsea series but they aren't as loved as these three) The Dark is Rising and Greenwitch by Susan Cooper (my favourite two from the Dark is Rising series) Witch Child by Celia Rees I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith

There are five books. From memory, I believe the order is Over Sea, Under Stone, The Dark is Rising, Greenwitch, The Silver Tree, and The Grey King.

GwenLeo in Hatrack : Shared books (Aug 29, 2006, 5:07pm)

... That is an incredibly forgettable title to an incredibly memorable book. I read The Grey King first, then later read Greenwitch and The Silver on the Tree. Then my dad bought me Over Sea, Under Stone and I read The Dark Is Rising--those two were in a different style, older, as I ...

Also, Susan Cooper has some stuff in either Over Sea, Under Stone or Greenwitch.
