I don't think I'd want to wear one of those uniforms (6) but i do want a waistcoat like Lirael ! And a library chief with a magic sword. Now that would command respect!
... especially from my school psychologist hat, and am a big fan of the Abhorsen trilogy. I actually like the second book, Lirael , even better than Sabriel.

6. Lirael by Garth Nix
The second book in "The Old Kingdom Trilogy".
... I hadn't read it until now when the paperback came out in 2003 and I had read and enjoyed the first two parts Sabriel and Lirael . It was a wonderful and compelling conclusion to this trilogy.

I have all read all three books in the series Sabriel, Lirael , and Abhorsen. They were all well-written and many students have enjoyed the series at the library that I work at. Great trio of books!
... a wormhole (through no fault of her own); and colonises a new planet. It’s a light, pleasant read with a happy ending.

37F.) Lirael by Garth Nix
An excellent second book in the Abhorsen trilogy. I really enjoy the characters, and I am intrigued by the dark things that are stirring in the world of these stories.

... of Atrix Wolfe by Patricia McKillip. Also Ombria in Shadow
The Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix, comprised of Sabriel, Lirael , and Abhorsen.
The King of Elfland's Daughter by Lord Dunsany.
I will probably have more to add when I'm a little more awake and coherent.
I always loved the YA fantasy book Lirael by Garth Nix because the heroine is a librarian, and it's described as a very dangerous and thrilling occupation.
... at this point (yes, my head is hanging), so I should probably read it, huh?
I'm also stalled about halfway through Lirael , and eagerly awaiting the paperback release of the sequels to Stephanie Meyer's Twilight.

The Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix
Sabriel
Lirael
The Abhorsen
These are what I would classify as dark fantasy.
Only 50 more pages to go of Lirael and am absolutely loving it!
>9 The other two books in the series, Lirael and Abhorsen weren't bad, but I thought Sabriel was definitely the best.

I've got to second Hermione's bottomless purse.

I enjoyed reading Garth Nix's Lirael ...and the rest of that series, of course. How about Garth Nix's necromancy in the Abhorsen Trilogy Sabriel, Lirael , Abhorsen? He presents necromancy from the point-of-view of the practitioner who is trying to preserve the natural states of life and death. He uses different sized bells, the ringing of which, has different effects. ...

In Garth Nix's Lirael , the main character, Lirael of course, is a librarian for a while. I love that library; it is rather dangerous!
Lirael by Garth Nix is a young adult sci-fi/fantasy book which features a fantastic library. The librarians have to wear special swords to protect themselves from some of the more interestings things to be found there and there are what are called "sendings" -sort of magical robots thingies to do ...

Garth Nix would be another great success in the YA category with Lirael , Sabriel and so on. Isabelle Carmody seemed to have to be moderately successful over here in the US, also in the YA category.
That is a really tough call... I think the Abhorsen Trilogy (Sabriel, Lirael & Abhorsen) would have to be at the top of my list. The world building was really good and I enjoyed the characters, the settings... everything. It has left me wanting more stories set in this world.

... I read Sabriel, which I had borrowed from the library. I enjoyed it so much I bought it, and the rest of the trilogy, Lirael and Abhorsen, as a gift for my daughter. I haven't gotten back to the other two yet. But they are on my TBR list.
