I'm going to really miss this series. The culmination was everything the other 4 books were and more. All of the main characters return and each play their parts in the final quest by the Light to defeat the Dark and drive it forever from the world ... Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs

Notes: The last book in the series. It was very satisfying to read the ending to the story. After reading the Harry Potter series I think the HP books shine when it comes to building the relationships of the characters. The Dark is Rising ... Have now finished the Dark is Rising series...Which means I read The Grey King and Silver on the Tree.
Halfway to 50 in 2.5 months, and at the same time my kids finished the first quarter of school. ... deathly hollows

Wednesday, 8/29:
38), 39), and 40) - finished the Dark is Rising sequence. Greenwitch, The Grey King, and Silver on the Tree (I read The Dark is Rising last Monday). As usual, I finished it slightly confused...there is a _lot_ of symbolism, particularly in Silver. So is Bran ... ... just finished The Dark is Rising and enjoyed it. For some reason I read Susan Cooper's books out of order. I started with Silver on the Tree, when I was in high school, then read The Grey King and now I'm moving backwards.

Chi ... I finished Silver on the Tree by Susan Cooper which I liked least of the five in the series. The Light's quest just seemed to drag on and I just wanted it to be over.
I've just started The Thirteenth Tale which I've been looking forward to due to the mostly raves on LT.
#118, Bookmarq ... Just thought I'd post that I finished off the series at last. I found Silver on the Tree slow going after a good start. It just seemed like the difficulties that had to be overcome were becoming pointless. There didn't seem to be a reason for the tasks, except as something difficult for the ... "Stephen leaned back against the wall, twisting a bit of raffia between his fingers."
Silver on the Tree by Susan Cooper ... fascinated by the tidbits of information about genes/DNA and hasd fun picking out fact from fiction.
I've now started Silver on the Tree by Susan Cooper which I've been meaning to read for ages now, to finish off the Dark is Rising series. ... it down to get some sleep. The most interesting thing was finding out about human chimeras.
I'll now try to start Silver on the Tree by Susan Cooper which I've been meaning to get to for ages now. ... The first two were good. The last one was great!
Next up is Elantris by Brandon Sanderson.
After that maybe Silver on the Tree by Susan Cooper, Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures by Vincent Lam or Hide and Seek by Ian Rankin. Or ... ... "The only logical thing would be for Bran to go away, cease to exist in our reality"
IS an absolutely critical point in Silver on the Tree. Bear it in mind as the story progresses.
I find it very interesting the above comments that Will is too young/Innocent/naive. He is described as "old ... Interesting. I've now read through almost all of the sequence (last quarter of Silver on the tree remaining). Why? Do I connect with Will?
No. Do I find the events probable? No. Do I get sucked into the pages? Yes.
Sometimes I wonder if analyzing the book adds anything extra... Some books are ... ... else but me out there that has continued reading the last three books in the sequence (Greenwitch, The grey king & Silver on the Tree)?
Anyone else who's interested in discussing those?

More than half-way through Silver on the Tree, and now I know exactly what you meant when you said that! Everything that's going on feels so...heavy? I dunno, but I'll read and read, and so much will happen, ... Well, I am about to finish the Dark is Rising sequence, I've just begun Silver on the Tree, and I love them. They don't seem as difficult to read as they did when I was in middle school, though there is a lot of suspense and creepiness. And frustration. Am I the only person who wanted to yell "The ... ... ... all the time I tried a couple others. I tried The Golden Compass book on tape and didn't really enjoy it. I also tried Silver on the Tree which I had loved in school as an audio book and didn't like that one at all.
After that I kind of gave up on the audio book front, but I'm excited ... There are five books.
From memory, I believe the order is Over Sea, Under Stone, The Dark is Rising, Greenwitch, The Silver Tree, and The Grey King.

I read The Grey King first, then later read Greenwitch and The Silver on the Tree. Then my dad bought me Over Sea, Under Stone and I read The Dark Is Rising--those two were in a different style, older, as I remember, and my ...
