Too long. Character development was extremely superficial for the amount of time devoted to it. The plot was barely there and some scenes were taken out of Private Screening and inserted here which was disconcerting.

I would advise that if you are not a Bush Sr fan to skip reading the ackowledgements at the endof the book, especially if you have any intention of reading the sequel. ( )

The first book in the "Kerry Killcannon" series. The book delves into the politics of runing for president. Kerry's oponent is using underhanded tricks to try and defeat him. Someone is trying to bring an old afair he had into the debates. Vice president Mason is using all the tricks he can. Also, a killer stalks him and plans to kill Kerry because of his suppoesed view on abortion.

The effects of special interest groups and how they distort the politics of an election are presented. ( )

Beach book. Elizabeth bought it & I needed another book, so I read it. Turned out to be a soap opera--inspite of a purportedly male author. It was a great read, so I finished it, but the story turned out to be pretty uninteresting. ( )

Decent legal thriller; I enjoy the characters in this book, some of which also appear in Patterson's other books. ( )

At eight in the morning of his last day in Boston, Sean Burke paced out tight circles on the corner of Kenmore Square, waiting for the abortionist, a nine-millimeter semiautomatic handgun hidden in the inside of his army jacket.

The intelligent, sophisticated narration of Alexander Adams lends an appropriate weight to this political thriller built around a beleaguered American senator's presidential run. "There's still a lot to do," the candidate declares. "And together we will do it." Well, maybe, if he can unburden himself of some hefty personal baggage, outlast a tenacious reporter who smells blood, and dodge a would-be assassin who's milling in the crowds.

Adams reads in eloquent, effective tones, allowing the action to dictate the pace as this 18-hour unabridged version reveals some all-too-familiar political maneuverings that ratchet ever higher, along with the rising sense of danger. (Running time: 18.5 hours, 11 cassettes) --George Laney
