Join Eleanor Burns as she pays tribute to rural America's barns painted with quilt blocks. This fun tradition began in 2001 in Adams County, Ohio, where Donna Sue Groves painted a quilt block on the family's barn to honor her mother, an avid quilter. The local community joined in and soon painted quilt blocks on their barns. These barns have now become tourist's attractions with maps pinpointing each barn location. Learn a variety of new techniques as Eleanor demonstrates how to make the pieced barn blocks, each with a miniature quilt block pattern. Full color pictures of sample quilts will inspire and give guidance for fabric choices. The book includes patterns for twenty blocks ranging in size from three to eighteen inches. Bonus projects for one-block repeat patterns round out this fun Sampler quilt.… (more)

This is a wonderful quilting book full of great patterns, with well written instructions and inspirational photos. But it is also a great book to read and admire, perfect as a coffee table book too! I loved reading all the history that was shared in this book. Once again, Eleanor did a fantastic job.

Eleanor has continued to show how very talented and inspirational she is, as well as giving from the heart. This book is truly a gift to all quilters, from her heart. I love it. There is an excellent insight on history of American quilts, as well as excellent patterns, photographs, visuals...all to inspire. I found many patterns in this book that would make excellent gifts, as well as quilts for my home. Love it.
