This small book features 80 pages of stories, each told in exactly six sentences, all of them titled "The Green Bike." My own story is included (#39). There were no other parameters. It's amazing to see the diversity when every story has the exact same title and length restrictions. Many mention tragic bicycles accidents. A few are experimental in nature. Others aren't about an actual bike, but use it as a prompt for the name of a pub or some other subject. Some are quite profound, and briefly so. Almost all of the stories fit on a single page. Dozens of short pieces with the exact same title? Not a coincidence. Each of the talented writers you'll meet inside (and many others who didn't make the cut) were asked to write a six-sentence story called "The Green Bike." No rules - just a title and a length. The best of the bunch are collected here - in six parts of course, along with the $100 prizewinning story by Josh Olsen - all for your enjoyment. A truly excellent read, and a must-have for any fan of the "Six Sentences" website. No library descriptions found. |
