Too much empty chatter.... Too many similarities to her other books...... Magical Realism is one thing, this ISN'T Any type of Realism....

More and more Alt's books are becoming mainstream Chick-Lit, without much substance.....

Color me bored ( )

Home For A Spell is the ninth book in the Bewitching Mystery series.

Maggie, recovering from a broken ankle, is staying with her boyfriend, Marcus. But when Marcus decides to put off returning to college, she figures it is time for her to look for a place to live while hobbling around with a cast on her leg. Marcus' uncle gets a lead on an apartment and Maggie goes to check it out. The next morning she returns to sign the lease, only to find the manager has been murdered and floating in the pool. The office had been ransacked and a computer that the manager had gotten the day destroyed.

Maggie and Marcus start do some looking around the complex and find that almost all of residents are single and attractive women. That almost all the possible suspects have ties to a fraternal organization. The police find a flash drive for the manages computer in his office and ask Marcus, who is a computer guru, to attempt to recover any and all data on it and old hard drive.

Once Marcus has recovered the data it basically answer the question as to the killer is. Then pass the information to the police before anyone else becomes a victim.

I feel that Maggie missed a very obvious clue, but overall a well told story. ( )

Nice cozy mystery, as usual I enjoyed the antics of Maggie as she tries to muddle through life. The ending for this book seemed a little abrupt, a long lead in to figure out "who done it" then the book was over. Nice light read. ( )

I am getting less and less involved in this series as it goes on. The main character continues to annoy me and her love life bores me to no end. The plot plods along with little to no comic relief and, perhaps the most irritating, for a book that is often shelved with paranormal fiction or modern fantasy - There were no elements of the supernatural whatsoever! Book description
Maggie is back at work at the antique shop Enchantments. Unfortunately, she's hobbled by a broken ankle, which makes helping customers a pretty lame proposition. But just because she's sporting a bright yellow, sparkle-covered cast doesn't mean the rest of her life is slowing down.
Her boyfriend, the magically inclined Marcus, has some unfinished business that she feels guilty about distracting him from. And her best friend and upstairs neighbor is getting ready to tie the knot with her own boyfriend and move away. This leads Maggie to wonder if it isn't time to find her own change of scenery. First things first: a new apartment.
But when she finally finds a place to call her own, Maggie's dream of new digs turns into a nightmare after the apartment manager is found dead before she can even sign the lease. And Maggie finds herself not only searching for a new home - but for a frightfully clever killer...
